LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. parts of hoenn's seas darken with toxic waste, like oil spills. for this reason, head scientist, lucas lane, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with elite four, thomas benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

the contamination has spread inland. ON ROUTE 111, a vicious horde of scolipede barrel down the cliffs at an alarming speed. they STEAMROLL with zero concern for whoever may be in their way. numerous pokemon have been trampled to death, evident by the distinct puncture marks that make up the newfound spines at protrude from the insect pokemon's exoskeleton. even the most experiences ranger has trouble dispatching them, unable to make so much as a dent before the pokemon zoom out of range. find a way to slow them down before they bring this plague into mauville.[break][break][break]

Fortunately, Katherine’s Goodra is well prepared for an occasion such as this. It recognizes the feral pokemon thanks to its teammate who belonged to the same species, which means it simply knows what to expect.

The first STEAMROLLER is dodged flawlessly.

The second hits, and it hits hard. It’s then that the dragon-type’s ability comes into play. The GOOEY body of the Goodra slows down any pokemon who comes into contact with it, and it means that dodging their next attacks becomes much more simple.

Mauville’s gym leader used that to her advantage, administering the antidote to the berserking horde of Scolipede, or at least those near her. She is careful in avoiding their poison and only acts when the right opportunity arises.

Alakazam's body shuddered under the weight of the fallen trees it heaved onto the path. The faint purple glow of telekinesis grew weaker with every decayed tree it piled onto the route.

It was a flimsy barricade, made from wood that'd already begun to be reclaimed by the forest pokemon. Bug pokemon scurried out of the rotten crevices that dot the wood. Within seconds of the last tree trunk hitting the route a swarm of joltiks scatter, painting the route yellow with their countless bodies.

Stormy has organized herself alongside a group of rangers, utilizing the sticky-situation that a Coalossal was capable of.[break][break]

Her own Coalossal steps up alongside several others, spitting wide-arcing puddles of TAR SHOT in a line. The Scolipede tear through it and end up stuck as the hot coal cools rapidly. It not only burns them, but it holds fast and they flail with their legs up in the air, bellies exposed.[break][break]

they're moving quicker than any of the group gathering around him could even react. dominic releases his bronzong with a motion that belies his lethargy; the preceding days had made their toll on him known.

"SPEED SWAP," he orders the hefty pokemon. its eyes pulse a dull red glow for a long moment, and dominic watches as the scolipede are forced to slow their descent down the slope. hopefully this forces them to decelerate enough so as to not render any more pokemon to a paste.

the trampled pokemon render the endeavor as pyrrhic. still, noah twists the macabre sight as preparation for the upcoming war. it seems as if he hasn't been able to escape the violence after all.

as the scolipede roll like rotten cheese wheels, noah directs his machamp to spread its arms. four fists bloom as they crash against against magenta carapace: WIDE GUARD.
