The kind of connection Azula and Maverick had was special but nothing compared to what he had with Kimba. But over the pass year almost two years, Kimba was becoming a fainted memory as the realization that he will never find her again come to fruition. It was rather unfortunate but at the same time, for the best. If Kimba was still around, he might have never had this good of a bond with Azula. And let’s be honest, Azula is a badass. Either way, the pair made their way through the Safari Zone. The sun in full shine.[break][break]

A few hours had pass and the two have yet to come across any good pokemon. With the sun baking them, a pound spotted near by was a welcome relief. “Are you thirty?” The trainer asked the fire and dark type, motioning with a nod to the pound, “Maybe a quick sip will help you hunt better.” The hound shifted to head to the pound. She came to the waters edge, muzzle parted as she started to drink some of the water. It was warm, but better than the heat of the sun. Maverick knelt down to splash water on his face, cleaning off some of the sweat that started to form. While the two cooled off, a tympole surfaced however was ignored by both pokemon and trainer.[break][break]

With both of them cooled off some, the houndoom and trainer turned their attention back to the task at hand. He already knew what he was looking for but wasn’t sure what else he should catch besides that dark and electric type. He knew a shiny would be a good trade. For some reason, everyone wanted one of those. But what else?

Speaking of shines. As the pair roamed the safari zone, a cry out made both Maverick and Azula paused in there tracks. They both looked around, unsure of what or where the cry came from. After a few minutes, the cry rang out again and this time the location was better known. “I think I came from over there,” the man told the canine as she darted in that direction. It took several cries before the trainer and pokemon found what it was. And when they found what it was, a pit in his stomach formed.[break][break]

“What happened?” The man softly questioned the oddly colored shix, the cat like creature let out another series of calls for help, “Please don’t panic.” The shinx coward away from the trainer as he approached, hold his hand out for Azula to stay back. After all, she was a canine and most felines are afraid of canines. His warm gaze flickered over the rope that was tangled around its legs, unable to move with them wrapped around so tight. “How did you get stuck in this?” He mumbled, reaching out to start untangle the ropes, “Traps are illegal here.” The shinx flinched, eyes closed as the man started to untangle the ropes being gentle to not hurt the creature anymore that it already was.[break][break]

After several minutes of him grumbling and huffing over untangling the ropes, the oddly color shinx was free. “There,” he confirmed with the wild pokemon, giving the creature a smile in hopes it would calm down some, “you are free.” The shinx let out a pleasant meow, slowly getting to its feet. However, it winched once weight was on them. “Take it easy,” he told the creature, reaching down to pick up the creature, “Here. Let me help you.” The shinx flinched once again but quickly accepted the man’s touch. It let out a meow, nuzzling his chest. The shinx began to purr the soothing down go happiness. “It looks like you might need to see a vet,” he explained to the kitten as he reached for a ball, “I’m gunna take you to the pokemon center. Then once you are healed, find you a home.”[break][break]

The shinx didn’t hear a word he said as suddenly something tapped its head, sucking the creature into the ball and locking in place. “Well…” the man groaned, “I got something shiny but not want I was looking for.” Only once the ball was a confirm capture, the man and his canine would continue their search for the electric and dark type they were after.

The man hasn’t even been in the safari zone for that long and already, he was off to a good start. In Maverick’s world, that doesn’t happen too often. Although he wasn’t sure why, he felt as though he has been cursed with bad lucky. Either way, once the shiny shinx was confirmed capture he shoved the ball in his pants pocket. Warm colored orbs flickered to Azula, head lowered to sniffed the ground once more. Surprising, there was not to many people here today but the scarred man was sure that won’t last long.[break][break]

After taking a few minutes to set Azula sniff the area, the pair continued to search for the one pokemon they wanted. And as they moved across the safari zone, a little bug and poison type pupped out from the tall grass. Man flinched, bugs not really his thing despite having a few himself. “Azula,” the man mumbled, nodding with his head towards the spider like creature, “Take care of that please.” Azula didn’t hesitate as she sent a flamethrower in the pokemon direction. Being a bug type, the creature fled the scene. “Thanks,” he mumbled, patting her head, “Let’s keep going.”

It didn’t take long for the two to run into another pokemon. It was another electric type, but not what he wanted. The shinx was peacefully minding its down business when Azula ruined it. The canine got low, sneaking down wind until she was close. And when she felt ready, she stood and snarled. The feline hissed loudly and darted in the other direction. His made the man laugh, shaking his head at his canine’s goofiness. “That poor shinx was just minding its own business and you scared the hell out of it,” the man chuckled, rolling his eyes as Azula pranced proudly over to him again, “What did that shinx ever do to you?” Azula let out a huff as Maverick patted her shoulder blade, sighing. “Well… I want to find that pokemon soon so lets keep going.”

As the man and his beloved canine strolled through the safari zone wilderness, the once warm blazing sun the baked him suddenly turned ccloudy without warning. Warm orbs flickered to the sky, brows scrunched in puzzlement as to the weather change so quickly. The last time he noticed such a weather change, disaster stuck. His heart raced. Was this Kyogre wrath once again? Was he about to almost drown again? But before the man could make any more assumptions, Azula let out a low growl as a cast form appeared before them.[break][break]

At that moment, he felt dumb. Castform was known to change the weather. It also appears that the man was still emotionally scarred from the disaster Kyogre put him through back home before he had to leave. The man let out a breath, feeling his tension release. He grunted as it stared at them curiously. “If I remember correctly, Castform has a fire form,” he mumbled out loud, hand rubbed his chin as he thought for a moment, “And if I have it forget rain dance and hail, it will only go into sunny day form.” Maverick pandered for a moment as the little grey creature floated closer to inspect the human and the scary looking houndoom next to him. Azula’s lips rose, baring her teeth as the little creature got close to her. And when the normal type was too close, she snapped at him. The cast form back away surprised, but started to giggle. “This could be my secret weapon,” he said out loud to himself again, letting out a stiff chuckle as it appeared not be afraid of Azula, “And it appears to be rather brave.”[break][break]

The massive six foot seven houdoom snapped her jaws again, snarling at the wild pokemon to try and intimidate it. The castform only giggled, swaggered back and forth thinking they were playing. “I’m gunna catch it,” he told Azula as he reached into his pocket and tossed the ball at the wild pokemon. Surprising, the cast form didn’t run. In fact, it floated closer as the ball hit and sucked it in. Maverick blinked as the ball fell to the ground. “Well than,” he mumbled, plucking the ball off the ground, “Well… let keep going.” It was only when the capture was successful when the man and houndoom would move on and the clear skies would re appear.

It seemed that everything that was in the safari zone has popped up but the one he wanted. The man had an idea what it looked like, but didn’t know much other than that. It was a new pokemon and a new trying to him. Warm colored orbs flickered when he heard the low warning rumble of his houndoom snarling at a little fossil creature that crawled out from its hiding. She advanced, trying to intimidate the creature. His made the man huff, shaking his head at the beast that thinks she is feared by all.[break][break]

After watching the canine attempt to scare the creature away several times but the wild pokemon seemed to not care, Maverick decided to step in before she got violent. “Just leave it her,” he mumbled to her, motioning with his head to head in the different direction, “Just keep tracking that scent. I don’t want to lose it.” Azula huffed as she moved way from the creature. Apparently, it still wanted to annoy her as it followed them. “Ignore it,” he reminded her when as it followed them, “It will give up sooner or later.” At least, he hoped.
