The Destined Battle [GYM]
POSTED ON Aug 30, 2020 23:50:20 GMT
For most trainers, the fourth badge was not a momentous challenge. It was the half way point sure, but there wasn't anything to celebrate about it. For Oscar, this might as well be his eighth badge. Months of training and hardship all lead to this moment, a final confrontation that would decide his destiny. That may sound a tad dramatic, but it was exactly how Oscar saw it.
Upon winning this badge, he would qualify to become a Beast of Rocket. You may not know, but that is all Oscar has wanted ever since he rejoined long ago. And here he was, standing at the precipice of success. He shook as he entered Rustboro's gym, now knowing what to expect. Apparently the gym leader used fighting types, which Oscar was no exactly equipped to take on effectively. Yet that won't stop him from making the attempt.
Oscar signed up with his league alias, Samuel Osmin. He second guessed his pokemon choices about a dozen times before finally deciding on Grievous the Blaziken and Obi the Exeggutor. They were an excellent team, even if they hated each other's guts. He waited patiently in the lobby, his heart beating like a steady drum. He could not believe he made it this far, yet here he was. Would this be it? Or was he doomed to fall after coming so far. No, he could not think that way. Pessimism would only bring him weakness, now was the time for confidence.
He was called forth, and as Oscar entered the arena he noted that it seemed--different. For one the battle field was enclosed by an enormous cage. Fitting, considering the type specialization of the leader. Oscar let out Grievous and Obi, and as soon as they realized they were fighting together the two let out a deep sigh. Oscar tsked, "Yeah yeah get your hate out now and get on the field. We got a badge to win." The two exchanged a series of glares before nodding solemnly and entering the cage. Oscar stood on the perimeter and waited for the leader to come forth.
No turning back now.
