Oscar groaned as he stretched his back, and that groan slowly turned into a yawn as he inhaled the morning air. It wasn't exactly ideal to spend the morning doing chores for Rocket, but money is money and rent isn't going to pay for itself. There have been an influx of poison types hanging around the outskirts of Slateport, and while normally their presence was tolerated their population has started to become a problem.

Too many Rockets working in the outskirts have been sent to the hospital sick, and Rocket was tired of paying worker's comp. Thus here was Oscar and Kaine Ikari, sent out to quell the poison types. It didn't matter how, it just needed to get done. Oscar pulled a sucker from a cigarette case he kept in his pocket before offering one to his partner. They were not yet acquainted, and Oscar found the best way to meet someone was to offer them candy.

"I can smell the fuckers from here. Lollipop? It'll help."

"not a fan of sweets." besides sucking on candy meant pulling down his mask and it was the only thing keeping the stench of the toxic gases coming from around town suppressed in his vicinity. while kaine was more prone to working solo he wasn't adverse to being a team player, even if his demeanor said otherwise. a group was only as strong as its many pieces and each piece could always work with others whether it be a specific one or multiple. plus this was also a chance to add to his small roster of helpers for jobs. poison types were always a staple of his line of work as well as seemingly to be a favorite among rocket grunts back home. why he couldn't say. "but your right. i can smell those fucks. hope you brought some antidotes, that is if they haven't cleared our surplus already."

As his companion rejected the candy, Oscar snapped his case shut. He rolled his lollipop in his mouth as he returned the case to his pocket, more for him. Kaine questioned him on whether he brought any antidotes, to which Oscar responded with a short nod. "Yeah I got a few on the way." Oscar handed the ninja two antidotes, which he absolutely pilfered from the pokemart. Purchasing is for suckers.

This left Oscar with no antidotes of his own, though he wouldn't need any. He pulled out a ball and opened it, releasing Sama the salazzle. Sama yawned and lazily looked to her master, wondering what sort of nonsense he was dragging her into this time. Oscar took a long draw from his sucker, "It shouldn't take long for them to come to us, especially if the reports of--hm--one sec. Sama, there!"

Oscar pointed to an empty oil barrel sitting next to a nearby wall, within which a strange being was poking its head out. It was doing a poor job of hiding, as Oscar had noticed it easily. As did Sama, who crawled over and smashed the barrel over with her tail. AN impidimp rolled out, who looked around frantically before getting up to run.

Sama was faster than the little tyke though, and lunged onto it. It held it down, snapping her jaws at the frightened creature. Oscar stepped to Sama's side and swatted her on the top of her head. "Chill, this one lives." Oscar pulled out a pokeball and dropped it on the imp's head. He had been looking for one for a while, it was nice to finally find one.

their conversation was cut short by the interruption of an impidimp stalking them. oscar was quick to dispatch it however and even more quicker to capture it instead of dispose of it. granted it wasn't a poison type but it was still an annoyance to say the least. as he watched the capture go down kaine reached down into his belt and released his scyther before pointing an the shadows of a dark alleyway that sat in the corner of his vision. "scyther over there." the large bug took one look at where its trainer was looking and dashed forward slicing the darkness with his large scythes. out from the shadows rolled a venonant that was paralyzed with fear as it was almost sliced into two. "hm..could use this for something." with that he took out an empty ball and tossed it at the fuzzy bug pokemon.

Oscar had little time to appreciate his new catch, as something charged at him from the shadows. Sama reacted quickly, meeting the assailant mid-charge to grapple it in battle. The two clashed, revealing the attacker to be a Nidorina. Sama scowled, feeling a rivalry toward the strong female pokemon. Oscar watched the two spar, unimpressed by Sama's performance. She was toying with it, side stepping every one of its strikes and throwing weak retaliations. He scoffed, finally having had enough.

"Just end it!"

Sama did so, whipping the pokemon across the face with a Fire Lash. The nidorina went flying, slamming up against the wall of a crumbling building. It could not get up, and so Oscar took the opportunity to throw a ball. It had potential, hopefully the catch would stick.

"...scyther. on your left." the bug didn't even take time to turn his body as he fluttered over and met an emerging swalot with a swipe of his claws. the pokemon's large body was enough defend against it as the scyther unleashed an onslaught of various cuts on the poor poison type until it was unable to move any further. kaine took out a pokeball and tossed it at the pokemon to catch it, a large poison type out to be of some use to someone in group in some fashion. maybe he'll put it in that strange machine they have that spat out shadow pokemon like gumballs, and if it died then oh well. "lots of them out here today. wonder if there's something that's attracting them." he commented as he picked up the ball and looked over to oscar catching his own pokemon. "any idea how long this is going to take?"

Another down. "This is fun." Oscar mused as he picked up his new soldier. Oscar turned his head to Kaine as he spoke, shrugging as the first part of his response. "No idea, but with all the weird shit going down lately are you really surprised?" Oscar placed his new catch on his belt, "I feel like it will take a while, but at least we're getting some good--"

CHARRR--

Oscar was interrupted by an assailant from the shadows, a monstrous snake that had its eyes on Oscar's face. Oscar was surprised, but didn't flinch. He knew Sama wouldn't let anything harm him. As expected, Sama Fire Lashed the Arbok in mid-air. It flew to the side, tumbling as it hit the ground. Recovering quickly, the beast hissed as it charged forward.

Sama went in for close combat, battling her vicious opponent up close. Oscar turned away from the intense battle, "So how long have you been in Rocket, I'm amazed he haven't met until now." Oscar peered down as the Arbok was thrown to his feet. He quickly threw a ball at it before returning his gaze to Kaine.

"i've been in since the beginning. kanto to be exact." it wasn't a secret he was going to hide but it wasn't information he would outright give to be written down on paperwork somewhere. if info ever got leaked out the less that's known about him within the organization the better, of course he still needed to reveal enough that they would even let him stay. he was only as useful as his skills after all and he did have to give the other man credit, his skill in taking down the poisonous snake sure was something.

"i joined that branch and after we took over i was moved to here in hoenn. simple as that." just as simple as it was to spot the scraggy hiding in the trash bin. his scyther was quick to rush over with a quick attack to knock it out of the bin and give it a good few slashes to knock it out cold so kaine could throw a pokeball at it and capture it. "i work in espionage and sabotage by the way. so if your hunting for some info or need someone dealt with you can come to me." advertisement helped him score a few more jobs. gotta make a living somehow.
