A massive horde of Pikachu were blocking off Route 111, specifically the area where the mountains bottleneck the route, leaving no effective way to get by on foot. Any attempt at using a Ground-type would have the Pikachu respond by beating them down with Iron Tail. Otherwise, it was an invitation to get electrocuted by the invasive little pests.

Now, this was a great opportunity for Team Rocket, as it meant that if operatives could capture a horde of them, then they'd get free power. It was no secret that a Pikachu farm made for an excellent way to maintain power. Especially if they pulled another Slateport Invasion, and effectively pulled the plug on an area. Still, even if not for that use, just having off the grid power for their hideout was a boon.

The bad news was that for this particular operation, Andrew Fisher, 'The King', known by his handle DarkWingsGod, was involved. Online, the man was known primarily for being an incompetent buffoon who screwed up everything he did, while taking zero responsibility for it. He thought himself a professional, and had an ego to match, but none of the skill. His fame online was more like people rolling by a horrific car crash, unable to look away from the spectacle.

As Andrew waited for his partner, he continued to play his gacha game. This was where the money he claimed was going to debts and taxes was really going. If he had actually used that money to pay off his debts, then he wouldn't be here. But alas, the manchild would never learn.

Beneath Andrew's feet, quaking earth announces the presence of Gavin's Steelix. The metal titan explodes from the earth in a shower of dirt and rocks, the detritus swirling into a SANDSTORM as the serpent coils. Gavin himself arrives a moment later, sliding from the back of his Corviknight and adjusting the goggles that shield his eyes from the grit.[break][break]

He's surprised to realise that his mission partner is already on the scene, given the lack of Pikachu captured.[break][break]

"You could have started without me, you know." Gavin's drawl is muffled by the fabric over his mouth. It's clear the sandstorm had been a part of his plan. "Get off your phone and start grabbing."[break][break]

He turns away without waiting for an answer, already tossing a pokeball at the fleeing form of a Pikachu. A small horde of electric mice swarm the large serpent towering over them, but their electrical assault fizzles harmlessly against its hide and their iron tails are nothing more than the bites of fleas.

As the rumbling of the earth got Andrew's attention, he looked down. "What the fuck?", he uttered, before the Steelix exploded from the earth, sending out a shower of debris in its wake. King and Queen, who accompanied him, would both be hit by rocks. As the rocks made contact with their bodies, they would immediately take on a brilliant glow, their forms shifting. With a flash of light, they would both emerge as Nidoking and Nidoqueen respectively.

"Okay, no need to be a dick about it!", Andrew carelessly called out to his superior, as his Pokemon began to charge the Pikachu.

Much to the surprise of the streamer, he would find the Thunderbolts fired off from the yellow rodents did nothing to the bodies of the Poison-types. What he didn't know was that upon evolution, they both gained Ground-typing to compliment their Poison-typing, giving them an immunity to the electrical shocks. It was as if the man had an instance of pure, dumb luck.

King would begin to violently kick the Pikachus with one-two kicks, sending them flying with the second kick. Meanwhile, Queen would grab oncoming Pikachu in her maw, Crunching down on the vermin, before chucking them aside with a spit.

"Eat this, you little shits!", Andrew cackled as he began chucking Pokeballs at rodents that were sent flying by the attacks of the Nido duo. "You stupid fucking idiots!", he jeered. It was clear that the manchild was getting a sick satisfaction out of watching the duo lay waste to the yellow-furred mice.

Gavin scowls, utterly unimpressed by his fellow Rocket.[break][break]

"I didn't realise you were so sensitive." It's not an apology; Gavin's tone is edged with a sneer. "You needn't be so proud of yourself for handling a few rats."[break][break]

One of the bolder Pikachu goes for Gavin rather than his Steelix, and the metal serpent knocks the unfortunate electric-type flying with a swing of its own iron tail. Due to its sheer size, the attack manages to knock out another Pikachu with the arc. She appears to be enjoying herself as much as Andrew, her golden metal flashing in the sun as she twists to catch another in her jaws.[break][break]

The underboss taps their unconscious prey with pokeballs with far less fanfare.

At this point, Andrew was too enamored with the carnage taking place around him to hear what the other man had to say. What was clear was that Andrew was getting off to this. It was practically bullying at this point, what his Pokemon were doing. Even so, he had a job to do, and what he was doing served that purpose well.

A Pikachu would attempt to rush up to the Nidoqueen from behind, lunging at the blue beast with an Iron Tail. Mid-attempt, the Nidoking would intervene, ramming the Pikachu with a vicious Poison Jab. The Pikachu was sent flying as a result, landing near Andrew's feet. "I think he got the point!", Andrew remarked, followed up with his usual annoying laugh, as he casually contained the Pikachu with a Pokeball.

Another Pikachu would fire off a Thunderbolt towards Andrew. The Rocket, barely noticing in time, stumbled back, and barely got away from it. "Yo, what the fuck!?", exclaimed Andrew. He would bring out his Pinsir, Stag, to act as further muscle. Landing near the Pikachu, Stag would grab at the rodent with all this Strength, and slam him to the ground. Andrew would quickly work to contain the rodent.

As the other ignores him, Gavin is similarly content to block out everything but the mission at hand. Steelix is brutal in her efficiency, and she coils herself around the Rocket to protect him from the electrical discharge.[break][break]

Things pick up when the Pikachu begin to catch on to the fact that their opponents are immune to electric attacks, and the wiser ones begin to retreat. They've gathered up a fair handful of the rodents already, enough to suit Rocket's needs, but Gavin's ambition leaves him unwilling to abandon a task half-finished.[break][break]

"You." He doesn't know Andrew's name, hadn't cared to ask. "Circle around and cut them off. We're going to block their escape."

Steelix slowly uncurls, her iron tail quivering like a rattlesnakes.

Andrew would spot the wiser of the pack beginning to retreat away from the battle, seeing as they couldn't harm their attackers with Electric attacks. Gavin didn't even need to tell Andrew to start circling around. He would recall Stag and Queen, allowing King to continue his rampage. "Keep kicking their yellow asses!", he told the Nidoking, who nodded with a maniacal grin.

Andrew would do as Gavin told him, making his way around to try to cut off the fleeing Pikachu. If Gavin were to look, he would see that Andrew was anything but physically fit. His run was more akin to a girly skip. It was one of those things he was rather infamous for online, one of the many traits people made fun of him for.

But he managed to make it, and bring out Queen and Stag, who would resume their offensive against the Pikachu, Stag throwing around Pikachu with all his Strength, while the Nidoqueen would grab up the rodents in her maw, crunch down on them, then spit their unconscious bodies down onto the ground for Andrew to collect.

Meanwhile, King would notice a couple of Pikachu managing to find Thunder Stones, evolving into Raichu in the process. The newly evolved rodents would attempt to attack the Ground-type. One of them was still foolish enough to try to use a Thunderbolt on the Nidoking. One, however, was smart enough to try to rush the distracted Nidoking, and smash him with an Iron Tail.

Weak.

Gavin's lip curls as he observes the other before pointedly turning away to deal with his own half of the field. Those Pikachu that didn't flee seemed to grow wiser under duress, a brilliant flash heralding the evolution of a Raichu moments before it discharged its excess energy across the ground. Gavin curses as he feels his limbs seize up under threat of paralysis.

Steelix, immune to the effects of the electricity, is unaffected — she knocks the Raichu away with a slap of her massive tail, but it's too late.

A stiff hand fumbles a ball at his belt, red light bursting to reveal a resplendent Alolan Ninetales. Steelix's sandstorm is replaced by a flurry of snow and ice that cloaks the delicate fox from view, but not so much that it doesn't see Gavin's sharp hand signal. Lifting its chin, almost smug, Ninetales throws back its head and emits a mournful howl. The sound of healing bells chime eerily through the route, and Gavin feels the stiffness abate from his hands as the paralysis is cured. Gasping relief, his next silent signal comes much smoother, and a pastel pink mist billows forth.

"Damn rats," Gavin mutters under his breath.
