Two feet fall softly on the decrepit platform that once was meant to be a research facility, likely followed by another pair. Erin steps away from the mantine that had carried her and the man accompanying her on the pokémon's back. The surface is firm and sturdy, despite the many holes that lead straight down to the depths of the sea.

"Let's start looking, Belle," she says, but what she really means is that the gardevoir she'd just called from her pokéball had to start looking in her trainer's stead. Then, turning to Wright, she adds, "Hope you didn't forget your scanner."

Rather than recall the mantine, Erin instructs her to follow them from underneath the metal and stone. She would follow the soundwaves generated by their steps.

With the lab in need of repairs because the damn thing apparently couldn't handle a little extra power, first off rude, Wright was back up on the surface again. Still something he wasn't use to after being in the sub for months. Maybe some of the others were right maybe he should get out there more... [break][break]

Though this time was a necessity, and since the Deedee who worked for him during the project was apparently busy Wright went for the next best thing. The witness! This couldn't possibly go wrong. Besides Wright didn't have any water pokemon to bring him to the surface so borrowing someone with one helped. Hopping off the Mantine he rolls his eyes at his new assistant, "Please like I would forget something so important," he chuckles as he takes said scanner out from his pocket, after all they needed specific metals not every metal would do. "Now lets raid the joint," hes excited as he is quick to head toward the lower decks of the ship. [break][break]

Those he is going to stop before he's fully out of sight, "Oh and just so ya know I ain't much for battles so if something gets in the way just do the thing," because clearly 'do the thing' had to be universal how could someone not understand something so simple.

Erin is no battle expert herself, but she's lucky enough to have gathered a team of quite capable pokémon. At the same time, she's aware that the same can't be said about every other person in R&D. Honestly, what else could she expect after being forced to take him to this place as Finn's replacement?

Before long, they would find themselves attacked from two flanks. One from the front and one from below. Her gaze flies from one to the other and then to Wright. "Did you get any readings?" She doesn't seem too interested in the threat posed by the wild pokémon.

[break][break]

The duskull isn't easy to spot, flying casually under the cloak of darkness between the building's columns up ahead. If not for the gardevoir's gift for telepathy, it wouldn't have been noticed at all. One of the psychic type's slender white arms is lifted, and a small sphere of pink energy concentrates on top of it. The sphere is released in the duskull's direction, and its eyes burn with pink-red intensity as it lands right in the pokémon's mask.

A second later, the duskull's retaliation in the form of a darker sphere disappears into a wall. The gardevoir is not there anymore. Bouts of

psychic

dwindle down the duskull's health in-between timely

teleports

. When the gardevoir is done, her trainer throws an unassuming pokéball its way.

As for the light emanating from the water, it really can be nothing but a chinchou or a lanturn. A lanturn, if the young woman's eyes are correctly identifying two slightly separated sources of light. One of the gardevoir's

teleports

has her disappearing underwater to summon a bundle of glowing

magical leaves

to envelop the lanturn.

Later, Erin's mantine would only need to catch the fainted pokémon and elevate it to one of the open areas on the floor, for any of them to take.

And still nothing, "Blasted thing," Wright grumbled as he played around with the scanner a few more times but it didn't seem to work, turns out reception doesn't want to cover a sunken ship! He was going to have to go in to some places for a job and increase that because this was so inconvenient. "As much as I would LOVE to say yes this blasted thing doesn't wanna work!" he exclaims clearly annoyed nor did the noise of the Duskull and Gardevoir help with any of that. Seeing the lanturn float up to the surface the Scientist walked over to the fainted pokemon and tried thwacking the scanner with it. No he didn't care that it was a living thing the scanner was more important right now. [break][break]

The damn thing finally discharged and charged up the scanner but still nothing. "Fiiiiine plan B, but while you were useless here ya might me decent fodder later," he picks out a pokeball to see if it'll captured the Light Pokemon his assistant's pokemon beat the crap out of. "Alright Zippy you're up!" he brings out his Rotom so that they'll go into the scanner and finally there is a slight beep. [break][break]

"Good news! I got the scanner works!" he tells his assistant before he crosses his arms, "Bad news we'll have to be up close to the metal we're looking at if we want to be sure is the right thing we're looking for. Which means more time here! Isn't that exciting?" he smiles honestly interested in the idea of exploring the haunted ship more.

Watching the doctor struggle with his device is as entertaining as watching a show on her favorite streaming service's comedy category. It's actually even endearing, coming from someone with a doctor's degree. Right until he comes up to the fainted lanturn and hits it with the scanner.

Her eyebrows are raised for a good moment, before lowering back to normal. At least it's all resolved with the rotom's intervention.

She's not sure if she'd call the prospect exciting, but Erin isn't opposed to it. "We'll need a light source, then." And out comes her chandelure, along with four purple flames that begin to orbit around its elegant form. The

will-o-wisps

would provide some much needed light when they venture down the darker parts of the facility.

Perhaps lured by the noise from earlier (sorry), or by the newly produced light, a lonely skrelp pokes its head out of the water. Belle is surprised by its proximity, for which the sphere of

psychic

energy is inevitable. Oops.

"So, doctor," Erin speaks up, addressing him by his academic title for once. "This has been stuck on my mind for a bit. May I ask about the topic of your PhD thesis?"

When they eventually stumble upon a mareanie, the gardevoir's

psychic

is deliberate. Not at all like the one directed at the skrelp, though both cases result in the same outcome: a weakened pokémon ripe for catching.

At the mention of light the doc watched as the other brought out the candle pokemon. "You sure you can trust that," he can't help but ask knowing full well the stories. Along with the fact that he has had friends in the field to study to see it up close just what the little thing could do. With that thought in mind he made sure to follow after as that little just in case the candle wasn't properly trained all while the Rotom Scanner was evaluating the walls to see if this was the medal they needed sadly getting only negative beeps. He smiles at the question as it wasn't something he was asked often. "Oh that, I haven't thought about that in forever as that was near over a decade ago," he chuckles a bit as he watches the two wild pokemon defeated with ease. "So I can't help but look for the best and how to bring it out, and even more how to make them better." he chuckles in delight at the thought of it. Wright paused as it moved though, seeming determined to keep fighting, "Ju Dee," he called and snapped his figures the little bug pokemon that lived in his hair popped out momentarily and used THUNDER WAVE to paralyze it. Well it had spirit he'll give it that, healthy color, and it seemed slightly bigger than the norm so why not. He took out a pokeball to capture it, "but enough about me what is it you do? Outside the organization that is, are are you completely devoted?" he asked curious to learn of his assistant of the moment.

Not even a second went by after he asked his question as he could feel the very ship shake underneath him. That couldn't be good, at the look of the cracks the Doctor was quick to move himself as something used EARTH POWER to create an explosion from underneath him. "Now would be a good time to do something Miss Caulfield!" he yelled as he was pretty sure his pokemon couldn't take on a ground type. Though from the water that slashed from the explosion came an evil water frog that looked like it had a grudge as it used WATER SHURIKEN and struck his partner. THIS WAS NOT THE PLAN![break][break]

Thankfully the shuriken exploded on contact rather than kept it's shape but it did leave him with a knocked out partner. Rocket would kill him if he left one of their own to die, uuuuuugggh how annoying! Stupid new more devoted rocket, it was useful for somethings but when he just wanted to run right now just completely problematic. "Zippy blow the castle back or something, Ju Dee discharge," he orders his pokemon, the Rotom quick to leave his phone before using OMINOUS WIND to blast back the Palossand while Ju Dee used DISCHARGE. Later on he would realize WHY this was a bad move being in a steal boat in water right after they've all been splashed thanks to the earlier explosion. But this was the reason he didn't frigging battle! [break][break]

So when the little bug actually used the move it hit EVERYONE. The two attackers, not like it effected one of them, Zippy, not that it hurt being an electric type itself, Miss Caulfield and her pokemon...... Yeah that wasn't his fault. "Oi any of you going to do something!" he yells at her pokemon which the Gardevoir takes her master out as they make it to the exit. As the weaken Greninja tries to attack them again Zippy comes in with an ELECTRO BALL to finish the job. Wright decides to take the specimen for himself as he throws a pokeball at it before retreating to the top of the ship. [break][break]

When he gets to the top the other trainer's pokemon clearly look upset with him. "Oi I already told your master I. Ain't. A. Battler." he points and accuses, "But with her in this condition we should leave now, now why don't the two of you behave and get into your pokeballs while that one takes us back to the ship," he orders ready to head out for now. He'll get the metals he needs later.
