His words have Skyler turning around just in time to see the middle finger pointed in her direction, which only makes the earlier grin resurface, sprinkled with no small amount of self-satisfaction.
An eyebrow quirks up at his invitation for her to lead the charge, as it were, attention snagging on the mocking grin taking over his lips. The sailor makes a show of looking around, as if searching for something, then turns to Angelo again.
“I see no ladies here, Angel. Guess it’s just the two of us.” The sparkle of amusement that comes to the surface is reflected in the the flash of her silver eyes, there one moment and gone the next when she turns around to start walking further down the corridor.
They walk unimpeded for some time, on the lookout for any possible threats. Skyler’s learned not to take anything in this place at face value; it’s clear that there’s been human hand in some of these challenges and she’s not too eager to fall for another trap. Her sense of direction, already a pitiful thing in and of itself, is put to the test when it seems as if the corridor almost twists around itself before leading them to what appears to be a pit, its murky bottom almost twenty feet below them.
The crackle of electricity can be felt even from up here, and Skyler has to put her hair up in a ponytail when it begins to seemingly gain a life of its own. She groans at Angelo's terrible pun, giving his arm a mock punch.
"That was terrible. Don't do that again." Yet there's an answering grin on her face, which fades as she sweeps her eyes over the very clear challenge before them. Her feet take her to the very edge of the pit, and she leans ever so slightly forward, studying the pillars with a thoughtful look on her face.
"I think it sounds wonderful." There's only a small part of that statement that is dry with sarcasm; the other is fraught with an undercurrent of reckless, dangerous enthusiasm.
"Those pillars don't look very sturdy, but I'm not going all the way back to the crossroads. Not when I'm already here." And really, was it so different from that river crossing in the very first day?
"Race you?" The flash of teeth is brief and unexpected, a subtle declaration of war and a warning, just before Skyler takes a couple of steps back. Then she's running and launching herself at the very first pillar. Her flight is short before she lands with both feet on the column, wobbling a little when the construction immediately starts to crumble under her weight.
"Shit!"An ominous 'crack' spells out her doom. There's barely any time to do anything; Skyler manages to jump onto another pillar just as the first one disappears into the waters below, leaving behind only a plume of smoke and irritated Eelektrik down below. The crackle of electricity seems to heighten, Skyler's blond curls gaining aversion to gravity as they start to stand up in the air.
The second pillar starts to rock under her feet and she jumps to the next one, hoping Angelo is doing somewhat okay - and that thought nearly costs her landing as she overshoots slightly and only manages to save her ass because she uses the same momentum to jump onto another pillar.
"Fuuuuuck!" This time she starts to fall before her feet reach the pillar and for a moment she's completely certain she's about to meet with an electrified doom - then her arms shoot out and she manages, barely, to hold on, wrapped around the wobbly column like some sort of blond Aipom.
There's one column left - and that catches her attention. There is
one column left. The last row has only the one, and once it is used, she knows, it will also probably crumble into the infested waters below.
Skyler uses her arms to pull herself up, already feeling the cracks in the pillar under her, eyes hunting for her adventuring buddy.
They'll have to do this at the same time, otherwise-
Otherwise one of them will fall down.
"Angel!" She cries out, doing her best to catch his attention. She would point to the last pillar, barely holding on as her perch starts to wobble dangerously.
"Hurry your lazy ass!" Once in position, they would hopefully jump over to the last pillar together - and then, if luck was on their side, reach the door relatively unharmed.
