[attr="class","athread"] The soft autumn winds were nothing like they were back home. For one, it was still incredibly warm out. Normally around this time, Ruby would already be covered head to toe in cold weather clothing to at least attempt to stave off the cold of Galar's rougher winters. But here in Hoenn, it seemed like it was always warm, excluding that apparent freak snowstorm they got shortly after she had first arrived.

Ruby let out a soft sigh, eyes closed as she rested beneath one of the trees in the park. Meditating had taken up a much larger part of her time since the war ended, taking the time to heal both body and mind was important. The scars from the burns she had received along her back were very visible reminders of the horrors of war. Luckily, it was moments like this that she truly got to relax. To just stop her worries and stress, to just take in the moment.

Feeling the soft grass beneath her hands, the wind blowing through her hair, the sounds of the city echoing in the distance. This world was beautiful in so many ways, sometimes it just took time to step back and see it all. The world just had its own way of healing, there was no shame in taking time to heal in her own way.

Her eyes opened slowly, looking at her two pokemon attending to her. Darling and Dear, two of her most loyal pokemon were simply keeping watch and making sure she wasn't disturbed. Dear was standing tall, taking this duty quite seriously, whereas Darling was waddling around in a small circle, apparently building a little crown of flowers. She couldn't help but chuckle quietly at the sight of them, slowly standing up to her feet.

"Come on guys, let's get going." The two suddenly snapped to attention, albeit plus one flower crown atop one head. Slowly stretching her back, Ruby glanced out across the park. Before she could recall her pokemon and have another teleport her back to her hotel, she suddenly paused a little bit as a familiar face seemed to appear in view.

Now... where had she seen her before?

seldom does dahlia have time in the midday for herself. there are periods where she wonders if she should have been a coordinator or a battler instead. perhaps, it would have been simpler then. less names to keep track of. less numbers to categorize as passwords or phone numbers.

still, she savors the breathing of a brief break. on the ground, the commissioner sees a spare pokeball on the park's court. leaving her seat from a nearby park bench, she strides over toward it.

her stoutland rushes forth, clutching the ball in its mouth. it's empty, dahlia can tell. the button releases nothing.

seeing a girl nearby, dahlia is quick to ask as she approaches: "did you drop this?"

She still could have sworn the woman was familiar in some way, but it didn't click until she was approached with a random empty pokeball and spoke too. Her voice itself was what finally made it click, the look of recognition flashing in her eyes. This was Dahlia Goode, commissioner of the League itself. Her only other time she had saw them in person was during New Years, where she was being injured by the jellyfish-like beast... Perhaps not a good moment to bring up. [break][break]

She finally cleared her throat, collecting herself and waving a hand dismissively. "Oh, uh, no that's not mine. I didn't see who dropped it either." Explaining she had been meditating, and thus had her eyes closed, might be a tad bit weird. Not exactly everyone really understood, but at least it wasn't anything crazy. [break][break]

"But, excuse me, uh..." Ruby paused, suddenly wondering just what she was going to say. This was the Commissioner! She couldn't just eat up her time with nothing important. However, the more she thought about it, networking was indeed important. The more people she knew, the better things might be. She was already friends with a few people higher up, was asking for one more impossible? That couldn't be too bad, right? [break][break]

"I'm uh, Ruby Walker, ma'am." She'd politely reach out a hand, offering to shake as she continued to speak. "I don't believe we've ever actually had a chance to talk in person! If you uh, remember me, that is." The slight nerves were probably apparent but Ruby continued to push through them with a soft smile, intent on trying to make a good first impression. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

the stoutland gnaws on the device instead. settling down with a hearty thump, the wet sounds of slobber and tooth sliding against cold metal commence alongside doggy play.

"oh!" dahlia quickly exclaims. the name rings familiar. another name in a list of others printed deep in the documentation of the incident. "if you mean remember you personally, i'm afraid i was slightly," she pauses, lips creasing into an uneasy smile, "incapacitated then."

as the park rustles with taillow wings, she ruffles the fur on her stoutland's head. long ears flicker happily around her hand.

"it's a pleasure to 'meet' you as well. enjoying the day so far?" she asks. "have you been faring well since our 'first meeting'?"
