The fact that she had decided to remover her hoodie so casually, knowing full well she had nothing underneath, surprised the Alolan man. Her reasoning made sense, but one would normally hold back on revealing when they are with friends, right? Unless... She saw him differently? Was he just an object to help her from time to time?![break][break]

Obviously he didn't believe that. Balder did hope that's because she trusted him that much, or maybe even loved him, but it's hard to tell if she doesn't admit anything. If she doesn't confess. If only Stormy could reveal her feelings as easily as removing her shirt in front of him. But only time and the lady would tell what the truth was.[break][break]

The Alolan Man closed his eyes as she started removing the hoodie. Even though he had blinded himself, he proceeded to help her remove her shirt, trying to be careful not to hurt her in the process. Once it was removed and she was laying down again, the man resumed the massage, avoiding the parts she was hurting and was signaling him for.[break][break]

"Hmmm.... Ok gimme one second." The alolan man got up from the couch, grabbing the medical supplies and dropping it in the bathroom. Afterwards, he proceeded to take some lotion out of the pharmacy, and returned to the couch. "That's gonna be easier. Might help soothe your bruises and pain too." After saying that, he dropped a small amount of lotion in his hands, rubbed them together before applying both hands on her lower back, moving towards her shoulders then go down by passing on the sides.[break][break]

Stormy was not shy, and she did, in fact, trust Balder. So much so that she doesn't even linger long enough to notice that he's closed his eyes because she's already resettled with an exhale. With her arms criss-crossed beneath her cheek and her eyes closed, she exhales quietly as Balder gets up for a moment to grab lotion. [break][break]

"Mmm... your hands are warm."[break][break]

She smiles, contented, while his hands smooth circles into her lower back and up to her shoulders. Stormy shifts her weight to help relax her arms a bit more, giving him better access to pinch and smooth agitated muscles.[break][break]

He would soon find out that her skin is abnormally warm, even despite the coolness of the room and her severe lack of clothing. [break][break]

"Ooo-- ouch, that hurts like a son of a bitch."[break][break]

She gasps, reacting involuntarily to still him in some way by putting her hand on him- wherever that might be. Her hand lingers, however, before slowly drawing away.[break][break]

The fact she stated his hands were warm brought a smile to his face. She was enjoying this, feeling better from his massage. That was promising. The man proceeded to get up again, this time moving to kneel on the ground beside her so he can continue massaging her properly. As the lady moved, Balder proceeded to seize the opportunity to cover the new areas, focusing more on her sides that he hadn't really touched previously.[break][break]

But the more he massaged her, the more he noticed something. She was.... unnaturally warm. While his rubbing would indeed warm the skin and make it feel hotter to the touch, it shouldn't be at that level normally. As he was analyzing why he felt her skin to be that hot, the man lost his focus on the massage and where his hands were moving, which led to him touching a bruise.[break][break]

And Stormy felt that, as she quickly stated and placed her hot hand on his arm. As the man stopped moving, he expected her to remove it relatively quickly. Yet... she didn't. It was lingering there, sharing the warmth. But when she started removing it... Instinctively, the man proceeded to grab it with his own hand, wrapping his fingers around it.[break][break]

For a few seconds, the man kept it this way, unmoving and gently holding her hand. Afterwards, the Ex-Gym leader moved closer, leaning forward as he brought their joined hand to his mouth, dropping a kiss on the back of her hand before gently rubbing it with his thumb. "Did I say how glad I am that you're safe and back here with me already?"

Her hand is caught in his and he holds onto it, stopping her from retreating. Stormy stills, slowly curling her fingers to hold his hand in return. The woman tucks her chin as she watches him, her attention relaxed and soft, as if, perhaps, she's seeing him for the first time.[break][break]

But there is an ache in her chest that isn't a symptom of bruises or cracked ribs, and that feeling grows stronger when he pulls her hand to his lips. The warmth of his affection pressed to the back of her hand is comforting, but it draws out the slow, uncomfortable beat of her heart as she watches him.[break][break]

"You did.."[break][break]

Stormy's voice is barely above a whisper and her eyes glisten with unspent tears. One slips, falling over the bridge of her nose to stain the couch. She squeezes his hand before squeezing her eyes closed in an attempt to slow the storm of emotion bubbling in her chest. [break][break]

Feeling her fingers curl over his hand was a nice feeling, once again unexpected. Seems like she didn't want him away from her, keeping him as close as possible. That was a good thing right? It seemed like she was comfortable with him, trusted him. Which was a good thing, because she needed comfort and calmness after what she went through.[break][break]

The man kept staring at her eyes. Even though these eyes had seen lots of chaos and destruction, they still shone brightly like the gems they were, showcasing the beauty of her soul. The man was slowly loosing himself in them until the sound of her crystal voice brought him back into reality. And made him notice the tear she shed.[break][break]

Balder moved his free hand to wipe her tear away, before rubbing her back. "You don't have to hold back Stormy. Let everything go. You're safe now, with someone you trust. You don't have to contain anything anymore." To try and comfort her again, the man leaned forward once more, dropping a kiss on her forehead, hoping she will be able to relax and let go of the pain.

She's selfish, isn't she? What she's doing is a selfish thing, keeping him so close to her despite knowing how fucked up she was and how unpredictable she could be. She had no right to do this to him, to keep him at arms length and allow him to dote on her this way.[break][break]

But she does, and he continues, and she doesn't try to stop him.[break][break]

Balder swipes the tear from her cheek and resumes rubbing her back. The hand still clasped in hers she squeezes, her grip unsteady as she begins to tremble. He's talking, encouraging her to let go despite how hard she's trying to keep from spilling. And it is when he leans forward once again to kiss her forehead that she comes undone.[break][break]

"I'm scared, Balder. I'm so scared.."[break][break]

Because she was a curse, a bad omen, a danger. Everyone she had ever let get close to her, that she had ever held feelings for, they had given up on her or perished. Kim's voice over the comms returns to the forefront of her mind, announcing the loss of Lance Vollans. Just remembering it steals the breath from her lips, and she lets out a mournful sob.[break][break]

It seemed like she was still hesitating, thinking if she should let loose or not most likely. But the sharing he felt through her hand, the visible trembling... She was breaking down. And the kiss on her head seemed to have been the final key to her emotional lock. And now, she was collapsing.[break][break]

As he hears her say she's scared, Balder decides to act. Albeit difficult, he proceeded to lay on the couch beside her before wrapping his free arm around her body and dragging Stormy close, chest against chest. The man kept holding her hand too as he leaned in, kissing her neck before whispering to her hear.[break][break]

"You're not alone anymore Stormy. I'm here for you, you're safe and I won't let anything happen to you anymore. Everything will be alright." Balder proceeded to take the blanket beside them and dropped it on them, then squeezed her slightly harder, trying not to hurt her or squeeze areas where she has bruises. The man kept his head in the crook of her neck, hoping it would help ease her pain.

The moment her tears begin to fall, she is scooped into his arms and pressed close to his chest. He's whispering in her ear and pressing comforting kisses to her neck, but the damage has already been done. She tucks her chin, her cheek brushing his as he tucks his face into the crook of her neck. He's warm, but she's warmer.[break][break]

"You can't promise me that, Balder."[break][break]

Although she isn't struggling, she doesn't exactly relax in his arms. Fear and desperation push her to resist, to keep him at arms length. He's holding her tight, but she's holding herself tighter, so tight that she's breaking.[break][break]

"You can't promise me that everything will be alright."[break][break]

"You're right. I can't promise you that. There's never a guarantee on that front. But..." As he finished with that word, the man moved his head out of the crook of her neck. He then proceeded to grab her chin with his free hand to hold her, before Balder leaned in and pressed his lips against hers. A real kiss, unlike the one given the events of Blade and Bulwark. A kiss filled with his love and desire to help her.[break][break]

While the kiss only lasted a couple of seconds, to Balder, it felt like it had lasted minutes. The warmth of her body, making her lips feel even hotter. Their softness, reminiscent of a fluffy dessert with a hint of sweetness to them. But he knew he couldn't keep it going eternally and had to break the kiss. Before he grew too addicted and never wanted to break it off.[break][break]

Still, the man barely retreated, his lips ghosting hers and his breath hitting them. Looking straight at her eyes, he proceeded to finish what he had started saying. "I can't promise it, but I will do all that I can to make everything alright for you. I confessed before, but I'll say it again, properly: Stormy Silph, I am in love with you. You've lit the fire within me and it burns bright, consuming my very being. For you, I will do everything and stand against the world if needed. I want your happiness and your wellbeing above all." How would the lady react to this confession?

... but? Stormy swallows, a nervous feeling bubbling in her chest the moment he pulls away. For a moment, she fears she may have lost him, that she had finally broken through and successfully warned him about how dangerous it was for him to pursue her.[break][break]

But he catches her chin and with it, seals an unspoken confession. He is warm and comforting and safe, and yet her heart is pounding so hard it might burst. In it, she feels his passion and his truth, despite the tumultuous wave of panic that encourages her to deny it and push it away. She doesn't pull away, though, despite the alarm bells in her head.[break][break]

When he pulls away, her eyes are open and wide, surprise and fear burning deep beneath their ruby surface. His breath is warm against her lips, and the pressure of his kiss still remains. She exhales softly, her gaze softening as he pours out his heart, his truth.[break][break]

'Stormy Silph, I am in love with you.'[break][break]

The magnitude of these words and the power behind them are only magnified by what comes next, for his promises and vows and hopes. She listens, quiet other than the rapid, warm breaths she exhales against his lips. [break][break]

"Balder.."[break][break]

And, despite her better judgement and the fear that clutches at her chest with the cold claws of dread, Stormy chooses to be selfish. She bumps her nose against his, clumsy, but she moves with the intent to close the distance between them. [break][break]

He could feel how hard her heart was beating due to the fact that their chest were pressed together. But hers wasn't the only one beating so hard, his was too. An answer to her plea, her quest for safety and comfort. Balder proceeded to squeeze her hand slightly harder while rubbing her back with his free arm.[break][break]

Her breathing is intense against his lips. He could smell a faint sweetness from it, mixed with the smell of the ramen they ate earlier. Maybe it was because it was her, but the smell was enamoring. Slowly getting addicted to it too. But her actions, they surprised the man. Their noses touching, booping as some would say. Yet, she stayed there, closing the distance further.[break][break]

"Yes? There's no pressure for you to reply, you know. I'll wait for as long as you need. But I won't leave you, and will stay by your side until the end." He moved his arm to wrap it around her upper back, squeezing her harder against him and possibly crushing her chest against his own. And thus he proceeded to take the opportunity to get another kiss in, making it last longer then the previous one.

Oh, how her body and her heart aches while cocooned in his arms. [break][break]

She presses her forehead to his, allowing herself to relax into him, to let him hold her and provide her even a moment of clarity and security. His breath is warm against her cheek, and as his hands travel to hold her closer, she lets her arms find purchase holding him, too.[break][break]

And she remains like that, focusing on the slowing of her heartbeat and the rhythm of his breath. He reassures her and follows up his promise with another kiss, seeking out her lips and stealing from her any attempt to chastise him. He was promising her he would stay, but would he? [break][break]

Stormy melts against his kiss, studying his face for a moment before letting them drift closed, half-lidded as she indulges in his affection. [break][break]

The ramen has since been forgotten - twice now, and the hum of the television melts into background noise.[break][break]

Her forehead is warm. Comforting and relaxing. She was slowly letting go of all her worries, the man could feel it. And when he squeezed her harder, she proceeded to try holding him back too, breaking their hand-holding. With his newly freed hand, Balder started to rub her back again, going as far as he could reach up and down, sometimes rubbing the side of her hips and thighs too.[break][break]

During their kiss, the Alolan Man observed her, watching her eyes try to analyze him before she focuses on the moment, savoring it to the best of her ability. Thus, the man proceeded to do the same, focusing on the kiss so he could feel everything properly. He wanted to convey to her that he was there to stay for as long as she wished, but it was hard to do.[break][break]

The TV channel changed to another one, maybe because they stuck the remote by accident, and was now on a new song going "Never gonna give you up, Never gonna let you down.." The perfect song to indicate his feelings, isn't it? Too bad he can't sing it. After a while, Balder broke the kiss, ghosting her lips with his own before moving to her neck, dropping multiple kisses down her face until he reached the farthest he could go on her neck and continued to kiss and breath gently against the location.

In between each pause in their embrace, she takes a small breath. Where his hands wander and coax, she feels renewed warmth and relaxation. They make eye contact as she crosses that bridge to indulge, and his reflected warmth gives her a flicker of hope. However, the more his hands wander, the slower she moves, though a lot of that can be attributed to the aching muscles she's cursed with.[break][break]

The TV switches channels and it breaks the tempo temporarily, as does the way Balder parts from her lips to pepper her skin with warm, tingling kisses. He focuses on temptation and she can feel her breath hitching in her throat as she tilts her cheek away to let him wander. But just as he pauses, lingering on one spot along her collarbone, Stormy lays a hand on his forearm, squeezing and stilling. She catches her breath and puts a little bit of space between them as she leans away.[break][break]

"I can't--"[break][break]

She studies his face a moment, and her cheeks are warm with affection, but she shifts to reach for and replace the sweater, tugging it over her head. Her hair is still damp and gets caught in the collar. She winces during the process, pushing still-sore muscles.[break][break]
