near the last known location of regirock's tomb, several trainers have stumbled across an ominous opening. inside, they will find the ruins of the legendary titan, riddled with traps, treasures, and the mystical unknown. no one knows what awaits them but one thing is for sure — a new arc begins. despite the thin veil of peace, the public still faces unease.
after the ultra beast war, hoenn begins to heal. the megalopolan invasion may have failed; however, it is clear there is much more at stake. a prophecy revolving around a cyclical meteoroid, the appearance of necrozma and a dangerous and viral alien threaten the safety of the region once more.
with rocket's new boss, the resurgence and reappearance of the crime syndicate's presence is imminent. the league has done its best to repair its reputation, and with the victory of a war under their belt, perhaps it is enough. but the seeds of distrust have already been sown in the ravaged land of this region, causing many to wonder what will grow?
his urshifu downs another wild pokemon as it runs with its tail tucked between its legs. kyle holds an empty pokeball, clicking his tongue as he fails to get the capture going for a pokemon.
the pokemon turns his head back to kyle, after which the trainer's expression mellows to his usual deadpan one. he shrugs as the urshifu walks back to his trainer, raising its head when the sound of wings fluttering above took its attention.
"guess we spooked the pokemon here enough," he tells his pokemon. "we're moving on."
he motions for his pokemon to follow with a cock of his head. it paces itself in accordance to kyle's walking speed before it seizes up in place, eyes staring at one direction.
"what is it boy?" he asks before leaning down to pick up a pebble. he throws it at a figure hidden by the wild's foliage to bait it to show itself.
Okay, so, Yijun's bag had been spilled in the bushes. Why? Don't worry about it. It was stupid and she didn't want to think about the last thirty minutes of her life. What mattered was she had been crawling around on her hands and knees looking for her ID. Ended up quite a bit away from where she started and had leaves in her hair. That's all of this plot-line she cared about right now.
"Aha!" A quiet puff of victory as she finally grabbed it, sitting up on her knees. A wide smile stretched her face only to be wiped away when a rock smacked into her head. "Ow!" Like a bull she surged to her feet and charged out of the treeline, ready to face off with whatever had dared to attack her. Looked like some dude and a weird panda pokemon. Covered in dirt and leaves and face red in indignation, the woman probably looked fucking bonkers. She flicked her eyes up and down the other but after a moment relaxed a little.
"Did you throw something at me?" Which, probably, but to be fair she didn't really have any solid proof. So. Before she could rally say anything more, the bushes rustled and out stepped a Medicham. The pokemon had a backpack in her hands and seemed to be rustling around inside. She paused when she spotted the new human and pokemon, lifting her hand to wave to them before offering the backpack to Yijun.
he shifts his gaze slightly away from her eyes as he scratches the side of his jaw with a finger before answering in a suspicious tone. "n-no..." throwing rocks was better than his previous impulse of letting his pokemon fire off moves, he argued to himself.
the urshifu gets distracted with the wild whismur. it shifts its body around with one swift kick, letting the winds from the attack's force aid the aerial ace. the wild pokemon falls from a single move, and the urshifu carries its unconscious body with its paws.
"what are you doing in the middle of the woods anyways?" he asks, suddenly concerned when he turns back at her. "are you lost, or, er... do you need directions to the, um, city? something?"
with how she presented herself-- dirty, muddied, and messed up-- kyle can only assume as much as he can contextualized with the setting and her appearance. he knows he can't assume though, but he's doing a poor work of it with his words.
the urshifu walks to kyle with the fainted whismur, to which the trainer gently touches it with a pokeball.
"Uh-huh." She narrowed her eyes, showing that she maybe didn't quite believe him. The bump on her head would be the physical proof of his lies in due time. The medicham, at least, seemed more content to watch what happened with the whismur and the panda pokemon. The fighting type even clapped her hands together and smiled, cutting off the nuzleaf that has run the small pink pokemon out of hiding. A solid force palm to the face knocked it flat.
"Well, what are you doing in the woods?" Yeah, this would probably go next to nowhere. Jerking her thumb to the side, where the medicham had dragged over the unconscious grass type, she snorted. "Same shit you're doing. I'm fine. I got a 'mon with Teleport." Her hand vanished into her pocket long enough to pull out a pokeball. She tossed it at the nuzleaf absently.
And now Yijun really looked this guy over. Close. He had a familiar face.... she felt like she had seen him before somewhere. Nothing was really ringing a bell, though, so she let it drop for now. Probably some guy she got blackout drunk with and screwed. Ah, ignorance. Not even recognizing an Elite Four member in the flesh. Shame on her.
"k-kyle?" he answers warily, before realizing that he's not in trouble at all.
the urshifu continues to look for targets in the area to beat up, akin to what his trainer and him did moments before meeting yijun. he spots an oranguru on a tree, watching. an initial surging strike at the trunk knocks it off from a height and the next hit knocks the pokemon out.
"are you out here training your pokemon too, yijun?" he asks her. he cannot tell with how he saw her medicham carry a backpack initially, although her dirtied state says otherwise.
the pokemon tugs kyle for him to notice his work and then points at the fainted urshifu. kyle throws a pokeball at it to capture it.
"Yeah." A pause, followed by a scowl. "Well, I was. I fell down a hill and spilled my shit everywhere." She glanced back down at her bag like it had personally offended her for that.
Medicham had decided to follow after Urshifu this time. She watched as the other pokemon took down the one in the tree, clapping and giving a giant smile. When the panda walked away, she leaned down and reached under the unconscious gorilla, struggling only for a moment before pulling out a squished and dazed Azurill. This was brought back to her own trainer, who only glanced her way before another ball was flung.
"I think I have everything, or..." the medicham got her attention, pantomining jingling something, which made Yijun huff. "Ugh, no, I'm still missing my keys. There's more pokemon back the way I came. Wanna help me look for them?"
it was the least he can do after he threw a rock at her after all.
a rattata comes running by. the urshifu makes a quick dynamic punch as it drives by, knocking it out quickly before repeating the same thing and showing it to kyle. he touches the unconscious body with a pokeball to capture it like it's some kind of reflex at this point.
as he pockets this pokeball, he takes out another one to release his mightyena.
"he's really good at tracking," people, he wanted to say. "but he hasn't done it in a while, so."
kyle shrugs, uncertain on how useful his mightyena would be for searching for a key.
"Oh, hell yeah." Yijun's eyes lit up when she saw the Mightyena, not hesitating in stepping closer and squatting down to be on the canine's level. "Can I pet him?" Even as she asked, she was already reaching her hand out to try and run through his fur. A pretty good way to get bitten, all things considered. "You can't catch these guys where I'm from and they're sooooo cute."
"Eh, his sniffer is better than either of ours even if he is rusty." And she shrugged it off. "They have a puffball key-chain on 'em, so maybe that absorbed my stank better than just metal."
Meanwhile, a Jigglypuff had stumbled upon the little clearing. It had witnessed the violence. It had seen what had been happening to those other pokemon. So when it got the chance, it turned around and ran as fast as it's stumpy little legs could carry it. Not today, Satan.
"yup! pet him all you want. he's really good with people. not so much with pokemon though, but that's probably just him being possessive of me or something. he gets jealous easy, i think."
he nods as he describes his dog and while his urshifu beats up a muk in the background with a few swift kicks from surging strikes. it melts into a putty before it walks over to kyle to tug a sleeve and show him his work.
kyle lobs a pokeball at it casually.
the mightyena proceeds to appear to nuzzle yijun, prodding his nose near her as he tries to get a hold of a scent. there's a soft smile on kyle's expression as he admires his pokemon's appearance.
the urshifu is distracted and doesn't pay attention to the trainers and goes to look for more pokemon to beat up.
Yijun was delighted with permission to pet. She digs both of her hands into his fur, ruffling it up lightly before stroking his ears. She even giggles at his nuzzling as he sniffs since it kind of tickles. "Do you really do that? Get all stinky about other people cuddling Mister Kyle?" She addressed the Mightyena before standing up straight.
While this was happening, Mona had found a Morpeko that was attempting to flee much like the Jigglypuff had earlier. Instead, it got a swift Force Palm to the skull and was carried over to Yijun. The woman nodded in approval before tossing a pokeball as well.
"Can you catch these guys in Hoenn? Or Poochyena. I've always wanted one." She grinned down at the dark type one again before turning back to Kyle. "One of my squad-mates had one and she was super spoiled. I was still soooo jealous."
