The thrum of Naganadel's wings seems to unsettle the poor Safari warden as Gavin pays for his ticket wordlessly and strides inside. It's not the first time he's seen the man this cycle; he doubts it'll be the last.

He's tired, irritable, and grateful for the looming presence of his tamed Beast as he ventures further in. So far, nothing has dared approach thanks to the alien insect that trails after the scientist.

In the end, it's not a brave opponent but a sleeping one who breaks up the monotony of Gavin's safari trip. While traversing a snowier route through the wilds, his boot collides with an unmoving mass.

Snom squeaks as its rest is disrupted, throwing up a reflexive mirror coat in the vain hopes of defending itself from threat. Gavin's foot is not an attack, however, and the attack fizzles harmlessly.

The Ultra Beast's heat wave, however, is incredibly effective.

Gavin scowls down at its unfortunate form and tosses a Pokeball.

A Darumaka's flame wheel offers a brilliant burst of orange in the snow-white of the landscape, and Gavin's surprised when a Galarian Darumaka ends up wheeling nearby. He knew their evolved forms to be capable of spewing fire, but he'd never witnessed it from the little ones.

He's in a hurry today, with no patience to wait around for especially interesting Pokemon, so he signals to Naganadel.

It offers a heat of its own with another heat wave, almost as if it were showing off, then spews a wave of sludge toward its opponent to drown it in toxin. The Darumaka falls and does not rise.

Gavin throws a ball.

Shielding his eyes from the glare of sun-on-snow, Gavin spies a Wooper off in the distance and directs his Naganadel toward it.

The Ultra Beast is an efficient hunter, trapping its prey in a ring of toxic spikes before drenching it in venom. Wooper were somewhat resistant to toxin, but the sheer volume of poison supplied by the alien insect is more than enough to overwhelm.

Wooper shoots mud into Naganadel's eyes with its last bit of energy, enraging it. It buzzes angrily about as Gavin evaluates Wooper's fallen form and attempts capture.

The war has rattled him to his core.

He is steel and shadow, closed off from emotion as he directs his Naganadel into battle. If it has any emotions or misgivings of its own, the alien creature does not express them as it drives its stinger deep, administering a venoshock that renders Arctozolt unable to fight.

The Pokemon's body is cold as the ice that encases it, though it is not dead. ~~Yet.~~ Gavin makes sure of this before retrieving one of the safari balls from his coat.
