A solid crack, and then deafening silence.
A flash of light came up from the other side of the field a moment later, shining upon the opponent's slumped form, before the smeargle turned Scyther was returned its pokeball.
Doug released a long held breath as the pokemon was wrapped in a light, it sinking in that yes- it was over.
"Thanks! Not gonna be forgetting that guy anytime soon, I can promise that." Said Doug with a sigh of relief. "You okay, Kama love?"
He recieved a stubborn harrumph from somewhere on his side on the arena, though he didn't really need it- he could hear her panting and huffing just fine.
He laughed.
"Didn't quite go as ya planned, did it?" He said teasingly, drawing another huff. "Hope ya learned something outta this, cause I certainly did."
Still smiling, the youth returned the pokemon to her net ball. His steps soon began echoing along the arena as he approached the man. Formerly, richest man in Kanto, now richest man in Hoenn.
Fernando Silph.
These two men couldn't have been from more different backgrounds if they tried- and they still managed to share quite a few tragedies, somehow.
"Thanks for yer personal attention, Mr. Silph." He said, scratching his cheek as he came to stand before the man, his phone's light on him. "With all three of yer jobs and the way things are goin' in Hoenn, I was surprised to actually get to see ya in person."
Computers usually did the battling for the man, so others who had actually challenged the gym claimed. He rarely appeared; some theorized he did so only when dealing with opponents of high importance or renown.
Doug was neither, so that was one theory down.
Doug stared at possibly the most powerful Kantonian man alive, thinking.
"Yer probably too busy right now, so I won't waste yer time, but..." He said, before shaking his head. He grinned at the man. "Ya'll probably be seein' me 'round here a lot more often. Lots more challenges to take on out'ere in the battle frontier. I hope I get to talk to ya more freely one o' those days."
He wanted to know. What the most important Kantonian man alive thought about his home. What he had planned. If he had planned anything.
"Thanks for yer time once again, Mr. Silph. I'll see ya around, hopefully!"
