Doug wasn't too sure what he meant by 'like you', so he simply chuckled, nodding.

"That's one way to get into the cool kids club." He said, slinging his net over his shoulders and hooking his arms over it like a staff. "Cute buggers, man."

Ah, the Vivillion family. Doug wasn't much of a collector, despite being a bugcatcher, but he could certainly see the charm to getting every single one of the famous Palettes. He had seen a Vivillion a month or so ago, back in Slateport. He regretted not catching it now.

Oh well. There was always next time. For now, he could try and make his knowledge useful for Billi. He held up a finger as he spoke.

"A Vivillion's Wing Palette depends on the atmospherical and geographical location they are evolved. Basically, weather and place." He said, gesturing around the forest before turning his gaze back to Billi's Scatterbugs. "If ya evolved 'em two right'ere and now, they'ould probably both be what's known as the 'Garden' Palette."

That was true! These pokemon depended on the environment to give them a different wing pattern. But something in the back of his mind made him think otherwise. What if they were born somewhere else? Would that affect it? “What if they were born not here?” he asked, probably overthinking it as the tiny little hermit crab pokemon sat on Billi’s shoes, playing with his shoe laces.[break][break]

“So are you just searching for bug pokemon? Or anything specific too?” he asked curious about the other. “And… your accent is funny! Where is it from? It can’t be Hoenn can it?”[/b

It would be a pain, but hey! Now was as good a time as ever to be as far away from Hoenn as possible.

"Hn? Just searchin' for buggers; no specifics, so long as I don't have one aWready." He said, yawning and missing a combee passing far in the background.

His yawn turned into a snort at Billi's next comment, the youth smirking at the man.

"Yer pretty rude, ain't cha?" He said, before laughing."Just kiddin', 'course. I don't care. I'm from Viridian County, Kanto. 'Tis how everyone in my town talked, more or less. How 'bout cha? I'll assume ya ain't from 'round these parts either, since ya had to ask."

Billi didn’t think he was being rude and paused, “Oh sorry! I didn’t mean to sound rude!” he apologized! Not that he fully meant to be rude he was just curious because he’s never heard such a twangy accent before! His was more galarian thick but he didn’t try it, “OH I’ve never been there before! Is it big? Does everyone talk like that,” Billi asked curiously as a Carnivine was CHARMED by Billi’s bug pokemon.[break][break]

It slowly snuck around the corner trying to snap it’s lunch from Billi’s butterfree, but instead it was met with a sleep power which put it to sleep, and butterfree made it a nice perch. So cute bonded together, but the prey one that altercation.[break][break]

"Oi, look. Didn't ya want all o' those?" He said, finger pointed at a Vivillon that had just fluttered its way atop a tree branch, its colorful wings making it easily the most interesting thing in the forum.

"... But nah. Only us farmlands folk spoke like this. I think." Not like he had had the chance to explore all of Kanto.

“Oh yeah?” he asked because he didn’t know much about kanto! There wasn’t much information that he could just google and find out considering a lot of it was probably blocked out from the public. “hmmm oh yeah!” Billi turned around and noticed the vivillion with a bright blue pattern, “Ohhhh itttss sooo prreetttyyyy,” he grinned and walked up to it, petting it’s head.[break][break]

The Villion relaxed in his arms, “It has a very pretty ocean pattern!” Billi pointed out before bonking it on the head with a pokeball. “well that’s one down! So...like why are you in Hoenn? Like just left?”

Doug chuckled at the man's question, his good mood from earlier rather contagious.

"'fraid it's none of yer business, bucko." He said bluntly but with a good natured chuckle.

Didn't matter how good a mood he was in, that wasn't a subject he wanted to think about. Still, it was rude to just leave the man hanging. Well, more rude than his response already was anyway.

"Let's just say it was for a better future, and move on." He said, yawning before walking past the man, stopping short as his gaze fell upon a Roserade exiting from one of the many tall grasses nearby.

It froze in place as their gazes met.

Doug stared for a long time, calculating something. Or perhaps, remembering something?

"... Oh yeah. Somebody did want one of you, didn't they?"

The Roserade's petals seemed to drain of color as the youth brandished his net.

"Get in the bloody net."

That was off putting and dismissive, but people had their reasons, and Billi really didn’t bother looking more into it! It wasn’t his business and the man didn’t really seem like he wanted to talk about it much more. With his phone buzzing, work called, and he had to head home. “Oh I gotta go buddy! Sorry! But I hope I get to see ya again!” he waved farewell.

The other man began to say goodbye, and Doug could only wonder if his previous response was to blame. He hoped not.

"Same. I'll see you around." He said, raising an arm, slinging the net with a dizzy Roserade inside it atop his shoulder while waving with his other hand.

Watching the other man leave, the youth patted himself, taking note of all the net balls he had managed to fill...

Yeah, that seemed like enough. Time to head back to camp.
