The net sat heavy on his shoulder on this day. Heavy with pokeballs, that is!

"No excuses this time." He said to himself as he swiped his thumb under his nose, grinning at the forest. Last time he had been there, a swarm of Gigalith's at the city had derailed his plans.

Not this time. Today was bugcatching day.

"Awright, you." He said as he winked at Kama, the Scyther giving side-eyeing him as he spoke. "Let's keep the violence to a minimum, 'kay? We trynna' net new friends, not cull the local wild life."

Kama harrumphed, narrowing her eyes at him. He gave her a shit eating grin, reassuring her of the fact that he was not letting her live down that little episode back with the Oranguru.

Harrumphing once again, Kama took the first step forward into the forest, arms glinting.

"Kama." He said immediately. Finally, the Scyther rolled her eyes, before making a (fake) happy face at him and prancing ahead like a buffon. "No need for the sass, lady."

Back to the forest! For another day of bug hunting, also known as supplies. Well not always, but honestly Billi had plans for something in the future. His sewing had taken off and people liked his clothes that he made. Maybe it was because it was rare to find someone who used organic materials, even if it took longer to produce, but the results were great. Luckily for Billi, his bug type pokemon produced the fabrics, and the Leavany were always willing to keep themselves busy by spinning them, and cutting the fabrics.[break][break]

Plus the forest was his bugs favorite place to visit. So this time he had taken his butterfree out for the day. Her wings opened wide as she gave a cute “prrrreee” that gently flapped up ahead towards some nice lovely lilies that lined the shade. “Don’t go too far ahead I don't want a big scary predator to munch you up,” Billi called out, mentioning as she slapped in front of s sytcher.[break][break]

“Ohhh a scyther! Cool,” Billi stated as he watched from the side, and questioned why it’s demented smile appeared on it’s face. “Seems a little crazy,” he spoke to himself but walked towards it anyways.

"Ah, Dagnabit." Said the youth under his breath as a Butterfree bumped into Kama, prompting her to spin on her heel to face it, crazy look still on her face.

She froze in place when she realized she had an actual audience. Then her face quickly began to flush- and it only flushed harder when the straw hat wearing youth cracked up behind her, his laughter ringing in the forest as he pointed.

The demented smile fell off rather quick, turning quickly to embarrassed, grit teeth- before lung the Scyther had jetted out of the place, leaping into and disappearing in a nearby's tree's underbrush.

"C- come on, love!" Said the youth, barely managing through laughter and snorts. "I didn't mean it, promise!"

He hadn't even bothered to stop cracking up as he said this. Liar!

"Okay, fine, I did, but you asked for it." Said the youth, shamelessly victim blaming, to which the Scyther only replied with a loud growl and hiss from up in the treetops.

"Fine. I'll just do this myself." Said the youth, finally conceding before turning his attention to the Butterfree that had bumped onto Kama. "Sorry you had to see that, hun. What's a pretty girl like you doin' out'ere anyway?"

He planted his long net onto the floor and leaned against it, cocking his head at the Butterfree, before noticing the large, approaching blonde man.

"Hey! This one your girl?" He said, pointing at the Butterfree. "She's cute, mate! You met'er in these forest here? I'm lookin' to meet one myself!"

The blonde blinked as the stranger approached him, and the sytcher, while shy, hid away in a bush. It seemed to be a pokemon with a huge personality that couldn’t be muted and when it was flustered it tried to hide it’s weakness. Which was kind of cute, but Billi couldn’t relate. He wasn’t even sure he had a pokemon that was similar to that. Butterfree flapped her wings, “ffreee” she looked up at the stranger with bubbly round eyes, smelling more sweet nectar (assuming he fed his poke nectar) which made her sit on the strangers head.[break][break]

“Oh no I got Ruche through a trade! But I love her like all my buggies! She doesn’t normally get to come out here because I live down by Lilycove,” Billi commented as he quickly changed the subject, “What about her?” he pointed to the bush where the sytcher hid. “Oh it should be easy! Butterfree are really sweet and normally travel in swarms,” he nodded as Ruche flew back to Billi, ”butterfree,” she nuzzled Billi before flying towards a pond.[break][break]

As she floated over to the tiny pond a tiny water skitter startled her, and she released her sleep powder, and flew back to Billi, the threat fast asleep behind her, and she dragged billi over, “Oh ruche,” he pulled out his pokeball and tapped it, “I haven’t got one of these guys yet!”

"Trading? Nice find, mate!" He said, grinning. It was a very pretty butterfree. "Bit jealous 'ere. I don't often have much to trade with!"

He didn't capture anything other than bugs and rarely if at all repeats at that- trading was a rare treat for him.

"Yup, I know! Came ready fo' it today! Just gon' haf'ta net m'self one!" He said as he rolled his net swinging arm, spinning the large thing deftly in his hand.

He grinned as he did, the other's question making him glance up at the tree.

"That's Kama, ol' bestie o'mine. We met at the Kanto Safari way back when I was a wee 10year ol' lad." He said, before winking up at the tree. "She's the best. Gets flustered real easy, though."

He recieved a snarl from up above on the tree in response.

"Love ya too!"

He laughed, then snickered, then finally sobered up enough to school his features into a more serious expression, bringing down the end of his net's rod to the ground as he spoke.

"But all that aside, 'bout Lilycove-" He said as he cupped his chin. He hadn't been there in over a year. "Y'all holdin' up okay n'there? "

It was one of the settlements that had suffered the most devastation during the war. He expected to get an assignment there any day now.

The blonde eyes scanned around the other as the pokeball blinked, revealing it was caught, and the butterfree returned the pokeball to Billi, remaining by his side for a brief moment. As the other spoke, Billi crossed his arms, allowed his eyes to turn to the sytcher then back at the trainer, “Ten years?” Billi seemed shocked that he had a pokemon that long, and Billi hadn’t had one for five years. But his rotom was in the family for generations.[break][break]

Everyone kept asking him how he was holding up, like he was a wounded yamper. Though it was good to ask, but Billi wasn’t trying to get sympathy from people. It wasn’t his gig, but the feeling was….kinda….nice to have people who cared. Others were all ‘thanks for your service’ when he thought he was doing what any would do for their home, but apparently not.[break][break]

“Oh yeah I’m fine! I’m assuming you weren’t around at that time,” Billi asked inquiring about the mans location as he kept the thought of his Poipol to himself.

"Nah. Was in Slateport for most of it." He said, playing it off casually as he watched the Butterfree return with the pokeball.

The subject was one he doubted anyone in Hoenn enjoyed partaking in.

"Glad to hear yer doing fine, though." He said, patting the man's shoulder before moving past him, his eyes setting on the branch of a nearby tree, recognizing the silhouette hanging from it.

A Netball was produced from his underneath his jacket and thrown shortly after, hitting the static Burmy right in the 'noggin.

"So what'cha lookin' for in this forest anyway?" He said, turning around to face the man as he waited for the pokeball to capture the bugger. "Or are ya just seeing what pops up?"

Billi paused and turned to the boy, grinning to himself, it was nice that he dropped the subject because it was still a raw wound that he didn’t care to discuss in detail because he didn’t want to make anyone feel bad for him. Sure his hand and arm told a story due to the scars and the fact they gave out all the time, but hey, he lived his life trying to be more positive, even if he wasn’t.[break][break]

“Oh shoot you nailed that burmy in the head,” Billi was envious of the trainers prowess in throwing pokeballs and one shot capturing. Billi cleaned up after his pokemon all the time. Unfortunately. “I’m not the best bug catcher! But I’m out here looking for some bugs too! They help me make fabrics and stuff. But honestly that’s only if they pop up hahaha. But I really want more Vivillon. My dream is to have all the different wing patterns!” Billi’s eyes lit up at the thought. In the background a Delibird was delivering a PRESENT to a little bounsweet.

Angelo mostly did as a joke.

"Shoulda said so from the start, bud!" He said cheerily as he held out his hand towards the man. "Name's Doug. Doug Sullivan. Pleasure to meet'cha!"

His handshake if taken was a spirited one.

Net leaning on his shoulder, the youth gestured with his neck in a direction suddenly.

"You gonna capture that one?" He said, now clearly referring to the Centiskorch rolling about a somewhat safe distance away. "Got one awready, so I ain't 'in a fix to jump its bones."

"Now what's this 'bout capturing all Vivillion types?" He said, scratching at his chin with a grin. "Now there's a tall order."
