As soon as the man heard it, he knew what it was.
It grabbed his attention instantly. His entire body shifted in the direction of the cry, listening intently to both its tone and for the return call. After the howl died out, a moment of silence filled the air. The infernape turned to his trainer, trying to understand what the human was doing. Maverick didn’t meet his gaze, instead his eyes were in the sky in concentration. Another howl erupted from this canine, loneliness in the depurate cry for its pack. He let the howl die out again, seeing if the howl would be returned.
Nothing.
Reaching into his pocket, the man tossed out his own creatures. The first was the white spotted mightyena known as Rurik. The canine’s head titled to one side, eyes shifted from the infernape to his master. Next creature that maderized was his mate, Willow. The white mightyena snuggled up against Rurik.
“I need you two to howl,” the man explained to the canine’s,
“I want to draw the pokemon to us.” Rurik wasted no time, throwing his head back and letting a low beckoning howl slipped through his parted muzzle. Willow soon followed her mates lead, letting her voice mix in perfect harmony. The two let their howl die out, ears flickered when a howl responded back. Maverick grinned.
Turning his attention back to Sovar, the man snatched his ball out of his pocket.
“I’m sorry Sovar. We will continue you training later. Great work today.” With that, the scarred human recalled his fighting and fire type and shoved the ball into his pocket before turning to his creatures.
“Alright,” he mumbled to the love birds,
“Try to get it to come to us.” Rurik throw his head back in another howl, this time calling to the wild canine. Silence filled the air after. Did he lose it already?
Just as the worry that he lost the pokemon, Rurik’s call was replied back. But this time, the howl was a lot closer. And in no time, a four legged figure emerged from the brush and revealed itself to them. Three pairs of eyes turned to the mightyena as she seemed to be caught by surprised. Maverick could see the fear and panic in her eyes, taking a few steps back in defense mode. Swiftly, Maverick lowered himself.
“Easy girl,” the man spoke softly in a low tone, hand extended out,
“We won’t hurt you.” His gaze flickered over her, spotting that she was favoring her left front leg.
“Are you injured?” He asked, knowing damn well she can’t reply,
“We can help you.” It might seem stupid to most, but many pokemon can get the gist of human language so it seemed well with to talk to the wild pokemon.
“Please,” the man pleaded, head shifted to his two mightyena’s before he turned back to her,
“We won’t hurt you.”Rurik stepped forward, standing proud like an alpha but friendly. Willow let out a few whimpers before leaning into a playful bow. White bushy tail wagged in the air. The wild mightyena let out a series of whines, gaze flickered to the two canine’s like her to the human that knelt before her. She looked like she was about to bold. However, she suddenly lowered herself to the ground in complete submission. The wild pokemon whined hysterically, ears folded back. Willow darted up to her, licking the side of her muzzle before she licked her leg. Rurik followed, nudging the side of his face to the wild creatures before looking to his master.
Taking it as a sign that they are good, the man raise to his feet and slowly approached the injured pokemon. A mixed between a growl and whine slipped her muzzle, Rurik letting growl overpower her to indicate he wasn’t having it. She rolled over to her back, revealing her belly to the man. Mostly would take it like she wanted her belly roughed, but Mav knew better. He knelt down to her and gingerly examined her leg. A sharp whine was her reply. The trainer let out, putting his hands up.
“I’’m not a vet, but it appears you didn’t break it. Just sprained it or maybe pulled something.” Reaching into his pocket, the man pulled out an empty pokeball.
“But I would feel better if a true vet looked at it.” He opened his hand in front of the mightyena’s face, the ball rolls in his palm.
“Let me catch you to get it checked out.”He was leaving it up to her. The mightyena rolled back onto her paws, weary eyes looked up at the trainer that knelt before her to the ball that rested in his hand. Rurik nudged the ball with his nose, trying to explain to the canine what his master wanted her to do. The wild creature stared at the ball as if an internal struggle was going on that he could not understand. After several minutes, the mightyena created forward just enough to lightly tap the ball with her nose. The ball popped open, sucking the creature in before closing behind it. Maverick grinned, standing up as the ball began the wiggle.
“Thanks for your help you two,” he praised his own mightyena’s, the pair snuggling each other while they waited with their human,
“It looks like you might have another pack mate.” Did a delibird gift him a mightyena or did a delibird gift this mightyena a human who would help?
