Sabine's at the end of her rope, so to speak, and to hear Zeke continue to give his two cents behind her back drives her that one step further. Agitation makes her face contort into something far less prim, proper and regal and more human.[break][break]

"No? Are you kidding? I absolutely cannot do that."[break][break]

Not that he would know anything about how she had definitely stolen this from her mother. The Spiritomb must have snuck into the paintings, knowing Sabine was the puppetmaster behind this endeavor. [break][break]

And mother almost certainly didn't think that the Spiritomb belonged with her daughter - in fact, she'd probably be frantic that the Pokemon was even missing. She'd probably be blaming the servants or maids, assuming they'd stolen it to sell for quick cash.[break][break]

As if this ugly hunk of rock would net anyone more than a penny.[break][break]

"You're right, you're not an inspirational speaker, so shut up."[break][break]

Sabine exhales sharply, closing her eyes to try and recollect herself. She bends over to retrieve the rock, her face a mess of disgust, and she sets it on her desk. The bizarre ghost-type Pokemon flickers in and out of existence with its smokey head, and Sabine turns back around to face Zeke.[break][break]

"Well? Are you going to put that painting up on the wall or not?"[break][break]

She gestures to the blank space behind her desk.[break][break]

as she sets the rock back on the desk, zeke finds himself a moment to admire the art all around the room. the collection is all encompassing, across different eras of style. his gawking is interrupted only by sabine's apparent recovery from her outburst.[break][break]
"sure thing." it comes out with an air of feigned innocence, as if to say we both saw what just happened and we're not going to talk about it. "behind the desk, right..." treading across the room, he knows there is no use trying to preserve the eggshells he has been stomping on all afternoon.[break][break]he produces a hammer and a nail, uneventfully bashing the nail into the wall. spiritomb has settled down, or so it seems, entertaining itself behind him. "does it have a name? or is it just spiritomb?" his back remains facing her as he taps the head of the nail once more -- the painting is light enough to be supported by the one nail.[break][break]
the hoisting of the art has become a repetitive ceremony, a careful one that he has mastered. he hooks the painting onto the nail, softly taking his hands away to let it sit on its own. a few steps back and he's next to sabine, evaluating the straightness of the painting. "how's that, boss?"[break][break]

She averts her gaze, still quenching the warmth in her face that accentuate her splash of freckles. How embarrassing, to have been so unnaturally natural with a complete stranger. He doesn't comment on it, and so she doesn't either, instead choosing to flip idly through
a stack of papers while he assembles the painting on the wall.[break][break]

"Probably, she had a name for all of her Pokemon."[break][break]

But the name evades her, or she simply chooses not to tell him. Her attention lingers for a moment on the man's back as he lifts the painting up onto the wall. Green eyes flick back up to the back of his head, expression back to unreadable when he refers to her as boss.[break][break]

"ah shit, it is crooked, isn't it..." with a tiny huff, he stomps back over to the painting on the wall, carefully repositioning it on the nail. after a few moments of hovering and staring, he stomps back over to sabine, who hasn't moved an inch. "fucking..."[break][break]

as he walks back over to the painting, he ponders whether or not sabine's wealthy family has burned people at the stakes for smaller errors. judging by the contents of the painting, the family goes back centuries. another shift of the corners, another moment of hovering and leaning back, and he feels satisfied. the painting appears to be square, and he turns and grins back to sabine playfully.[break][break]

Sabine hesitates, glancing back at him with eyebrows creased together in some degree of surprise and disgust. Was he serious?[break][break]

"Uh-huh...."[break][break]

She watches him a while longer as he moves forward to adjust the painting. It takes a couple of tries, but considering he's easy on the eyes and she's in a better mood having seen the painting up and in it's proper place on the wall.. she doesn't mind watching him adjust and readjust it until it sits perfectly square.[break][break]

Zeke tips his chin over his shoulder to toss her a playful grin. Her eyebrow raises in response, sharp eyes studying his expression carefully. [break][break]
