They made it through.

Out of the freezing cavern... and into an icy purgatory on Earth.

His blood ran cold as they came into the open area. What appeared to be an open hole in the mountain. It lead to nowhere, unless you could somehow climb the tall walls of ice and snow.

A task that had proven too much to the many children and young men whose bodies they could see spread all over the snowy floors, huddled together for warmth.

To no avail.

Not a single one seemed to take so much as a breath.

"... Frozen alive." Said the young soldier hopelessly as he took a step towards the bodies... before being cut off by a sudden giggling that echoed in the stormy night.

Doug yelped as his Volcarona lurched forward and shoved him out of the way right before a beam of ice turned him into yet another one of the many statues spread along the length of the caverns.

From the mountain of frozen bodies, a small, feminine silhouette slowly rose, her red gaze settling onto the two men.

She was willing to play games with them so long as they did so by her rules.

But she would not abide by them touching her decorations.

"Billy, get offa' me!" Said Doug as the man grabbed him, kicking his legs. "I know how to bloody fight!"

The Officer hadn't been bootcamped into the dirt by both Noah and the drill sergeant just to be babysat through a fight with some wild pokemon.

With no time to oppose further as the Ghost type began her concerted offensive, Doug swiped his arm wildly as icy gales were released towards them, shouting.

"Dagnabit! Mothra, Fiery Dance!" He said, offering a quick solution to the blizzard being unleashed upon them, his pokemon releasing waves of flames against the ice, the clashing of the two forces exploding into a mass of lukewarm mist.

There really wasn't time to argue any further, now that things had come to this. Just roll with it, ignore the heavy dread weighing on your chest at at the sight of the corpses, and push forward.

"Fine! Keep yer eyes peeled- last thing we need is for it to sneak up on us!" He said, looking around everywhere- to no avail. The haze created by the clash of ice and fire was thick. He could not even see Mothra anymore.

"I'll have Mothra deal with the mist- when the lass is revealed, smash it!" He said, before shouting into the miss. "Make some weather, love!"

A shrill screech came from the mist as the bug flapped her wings powerfully, again and again, swaths of wind sweeping across the open area and until the mist had been blown away-

Revealing the Frosslass to be floating directly in front of them, her hand raised towards both men, trembling with frozen energy.

The Froslass attempted to swing her ray about to follow, but it proved unwieldy at best, sailing across and arching chaotically, creating icicles wherever it touched.

The ghost released a shrill screech as the Corviknight's talons clamped around its hollow frame, her body thrashing about wildly as hex and curse threatened to burst out.

Unable to see her properly from where they stood, it was impossible to throw a pokeball at her and be done with the ordeal.

Her power was overflowing, and it would soon be too dangerous to cling to hear.

"Throw 'er down! Mothra will finish 'er!" Said Doug to Billy, hoping to take care of everything with their next moves.

Forcefully thrown into the floor before it could dematerialize, the Froslass smashed into the floor, bouncing off it roughly from the impact, and got immediately swept up into a wave of flames as Mothra swept past it with its wings spread wide, a blaze tailing behind her.

A pained shriek cut through the air as ghost flailed on the floor, surrounded by flames, pain wracking at its supposedly dead form. Flinching at its cutting gasps, Doug quickly reeled back his hand and threw the pokeball into the fire, nailing the pokemon in the head.

Whether it had been weakened enough by their attacks, or it chose to stay in the safety of the pokeball rather than face the fire, the pokeball soon settled, the fires being dissipated by Mothra shortly after.

It was done.

"... We are done here." Doug said soberly, patting Billi's shoulder as he turned his gaze towards the rows of frozen bodies.

"Yeah. I'll call in all League staff in the area." He said, releasing a drawn out breath, squeezing his fist tightly. He could barely force himself to look at the bodies.

"Thanks for yer help, Billi." He said as he reached up to tip down his hat, sighing. "Ya can leave the families to me. It's my job, after all."

He didn't look forward to being the bearer of bad news... but somebody had to do it.

Forcing himself to turn around and look over his shoulder to the bodies one last time, the youth clutched at his chest and shuddered, staring into the terrified, blank gaze of one of the borderline statues.
