Noelani breathed in the atmosphere of Slateport beach as he sipped on some soda and explored it. It was packed and colorful, filled with people from all kinds of walk and origin as all beaches like this tended to be. Yet at the same time it was nothing like beaches back home in Alola. The ocean smelt different and sand under his feet felt unlike the ones he had walked on to. It only stroked his feeling of wanderlust and want to see what else this continent could offer.

Chuckling he looked down at his starter “Feels a bit like when we first set off from Hau'oli City, Eh Kala?”

The bellossom’s response was a happy chirp and a twirl making Noelani release another chuckle. Though as much as he liked the lively beach the Alolan decided to explore a bit and as such made his way towards the edges of the shoreline leaving behind the more populated area.

It did take some walking but soon him and his starter had reached an unguarded section, though with how close a lifeguard post was Noel was reluctant to call it truly unguarded. Still at least it had way fewer people and umbrellas dotting it. In fact, he was able to see some wild Pokémon roaming around as well.

Noelani gave an appreciative hum as he eyed the two older girls walking along the beach and past him. It did mean his head was turned though and just as he was about to throw a wave in their direction as they glanced back at him his foot caught something and he stumbled.

Flailing a bit as he tried to regain his balance the tips of his ears turned a bit red as the female duo’s giggles reached him. Not that making a fool of himself would have deterred Noelani though but before he could carry on with his wave towards them the winning smile on his face twitched. The reason being the angry chattering coming next to him.

Looking down at the angry corphish waving it’s claws angrily at him the alolan could only sigh in amusement and resignation both. That only seemed to irritate the Pokémon more as it’s claw glowed briefly and moved to swing at his foot.

A glowing green blade interrupted it as Kala moved and intercepted the attack with Leaf Blade. Before the corphish could get it’s bearing and do a follow up attack his starter gestured with her other appendage and blasted off the crab back into the water as she conjured Petal Dance. The bellossom only gave an indignant huff and twirl as she watched the other Pokémon land a bit off and clearly knocked out.

Chuckling Noelani considered catching it but decided against it still he spoke to his starter “Well at least it has spunk.”

Another annoyed twirl was the response and with that Noelani turned his head back again towards where the female duo was only to see them gone. With a shrug of his shoulder He returned to exploring the beach.

Noelani looked at the curious sight and debated if he should intervene or join in. It did kind of look fun but should he really? Turning towards Kala he questioned his Bellossom “What do you think, want to join in?”

His starter responded with a so-so gesture which only made him nod his head. It was about what Noelani felt as well and it might have been amusing to get roped in with the Morgrem that was throwing sand balls at people from its shoddy looking sand castle but he ultimately decided against it.

Walking around the “danger zone” was simple enough though the alolan did have to dodge a few projectiles that the cackling Pokémon sent his way but it was no trouble. Him and his starter did share a parting laugh when they saw a man swallow one by accident.

Moving on with exploring Noelani decided to get closer to the shoreline allowing the water from waves to wash over his feet. Kala was enjoying the sprays of water as well if the chain of happy twirls were any indication.

The duo had been walking for quite a bit and area was getting more and more depopulated still Noleani decided they would go on till the shoreline thinned a bit more.

Not a lot of beach left and Noelani was starting to crave another soda due to all that walking. Still looking at his surrounding he noticed a pokemon trying to return to the water. Looking at it he then turned to Kala and shared a look with the bellossom before returning his stare to the octillery.

Finally, the pokemon noticed the attention it was getting and it also turned to look at the duo. For a few moments that’s all that happened and then an understanding seemed to pass between all of them. By the time Noelani said “Leaf Blade.” Kala was already dashing forwards with a glowing green blade emitting from her appendage while the octillery was forming and preparing to fire an Ice Beam.

Oh ho, seemed smart enough if it decided to open with an ice type move instead of the usual use of Octazooka. it’s what the ones he used to encounter in Alola opened up with usually. How very interesting though his starter was used to having to deal with surprise Ice beams by various pokemon. That’s why it only took a twirl at the last second for Kala to evade the beam.

Before she could land her attack though the other pokemon stopped it right in the tracks with the aid of Warp and using its tentacles to wrap around it. It did much the same with the other limb as well when Kala tried to use leaf blade with it. Octillery was shooting a mighty vindictive look at his starter so Noelani decided to ruin its day with a simple “Do it.”

With a cry that also sounded vindictive the Bellossom conjured a Petal Dance that engulfed them in a pillar of petals shooting upwards. It clearly stunned the octillery but before it could get it’s bearing Kala used Petal Dance again and then again and again.

It was on the third time that Noelani finally spoke up “I think that’s enough of Kala.” before throwing a pokeball in the direction of the ocitllery in order to catch it after Kala released it.
