he sees an emboar from a distance. the image of the tepig he saw the day before comes to mind all of a sudden, and while nothing especially bad happened to the said pokemon, he's still uneasy with the presence of the emboar itself.

kyle takes his mightyena and yanks it over his shoulder before relocating, retreating from his hangout spot further away from the emboar. his mightyena wasn't really suited in fighting it despite the fact that kyle knows that it can probably take it.

the mightyena barks, although he's kept quiet with kyle forcing its mouth shut with his hand.

kyle stops from running and drops the mightyena on the ground without checking if it'll land on its feet. unfortunately, it doesn't. kyle takes a moment to catch his breath while his mightyena immediately flips itself over and fluffs his fur right back.

a curious ponyta wanders by and watches the duo take a breather from the emboar scare. its eyes meet with kyle's, and unlike the last wild pokemon, the elite four doesn't feel the least threatened with this fire-type at least.

he goes back to controlling his breathing while the ponyta wanders off to find another place to scurry to.

the cry of the ponyta is heard as soon as it gets off the view. kyle wanders cautiously to the source of the sound, his mightyena following behind him closely, until he sees the cause of panic for the wild pokemon.

the pyroar is quick to switch his attention from the ponyta to the pair, having seen them as threats before his next meal. it releases a mighty roar, wherein kyle's pokemon responds with a challenging bark in response.

kyle wants to yank the tail of his pokemon just for that reaction. he already knows what was going to happen soon, and any disturbances would just be a hindrance to his own safety.

the pyroar lunges at the dark-type, taking the challenge. its larger stature allows it to effectively take down the mightyena easily. unfortunately for the wild pokemon, kyle's mightyena knows how to handle larger threats effectively.

it quickly retaliates with a crunch by its neck. kyle panics, wondering if the attack is lethal or not. deciding that mulling over it wastes precious time, he quickly throws a pokeball at it. endangering wildlife was not what he was planning for today.
