Why did he have a feeling the placement of the structure was similar to how his own Gym was—

“How in the hell is there a snow machine so close to the place that is literally right next to a volcano?!” he exclaimed as he entered the Gym grounds, marveling at the… terrain change.

Ooh, looks like someone’s going after terrains too… he thought with a grin as he looked around, marveling at the snow. Quickly shutting the door, he looked around.

“Oh well. Sasuke, I hope you don’t mind the cold,” he rumbled as he threw out the two containment units—one that had his Scyther, another revealing a… Snom. That landed pathetically in the fluff. Oof.

“What the hell.”

The Scyther was confused—wait a second, what the hell? The white stuff was something he had never encountered in his entire life—having been used to hanging around a tropical area all his life.

Of course all good things came to an end when the snow was replaced with—with sand? Holy fucking shit, what?

“Whoa,” was all Alexei had time to yelp out before backing away from the point where the sand had emanated. It certainly caught the Scyther off-hand as well, and he looked around, confused for a few seconds.

“Don’t be distracted—“ he called out, before the Scyther let out a cry of surprise. “Get out of the way!” he added a few moments later.

The Scyther had a few moments to dodge—before blinking and barreling out of the way with a last-second use of Agility. Yikes. This weather was really disorienting!

At least there was a distinct giveaway on where the attacks were coming from. While Alexei normally didn’t bother with Dragon Rage (seeing as it was a highly situational move) for him to be caught off-guard, well, that was a stretch!

“Careful!” he called out into the storm. While the Scyther had managed to get out of the way the first time, the second wasn’t as lucky. He flinched for a few moments as he heard the dual-type let out a cry of surprise, getting caught by one of the two attacks—well, no pain no gain they said.

“Wait until it’s close enough! Then strike!” he called out.

As if I needed to tell him that twice! he added to himself as the Scyther rubbed its scythe-like blades, waiting for the moment to strike—

And there it was.

The Scyther kept its eye on the little dragon, waiting until the time was right—before flying in close and attempting a Steel Wing attack.

Who knew if it was going to connect?!

Oh, shit.

The Scyther blinked a few times—wait, where the hell had the little bugger gone—and looked around frantically. This was… the first time he’d met such an annoying Pokémon, how cowardly! The panicked look lasted on the Scyther’s face for all of 0.5 second before a blur came out somewhere close to his left—

And he was knocked to one side. Who knew the little shit could pack a punch?!

“Don’t get too reckless!” Alexei shouted from his current position. There were times that the Scyther could get in way over his head—and seeing that there was a chance to strike, he took it.

Back up where the dual-type had landed, he spread his wings wide, before attempting to swing them in a Wing Attack! But no, he wasn’t done yet.

Now that the chance was there, the Scyther followed up with a second attempt at Steel Wing, in case the first attack fails to connect!

While the Wing Attack (shockingly) didn’t hit, it was the Steel Wing that had connected—and the Scyther chuckled to himself for the briefest of moments. Like, five seconds was all the time he gave himself to laugh, because oh holy shit here came the little beast again, this time—was it on fire?!

Was the little shit on fire?!

Letting out a surprised cry of shock, Alexei watched as the Scyther stalled—before realizing what danger he was in.

“Sasuke, don’t zone out! Stop being so reckless and get the hell out of the way!” he called from his vantage point, before the Scyther sprang into action and propelled himself away from the incoming attack with a last-second burst of Agility.

But they weren’t out of the woods yet.

Seeing that the little shit was trying to tip him over, the Scyther than lashed out in the best way he could think of—attempting a Fury Cutter attack!

Ah, shit!

He’d missed!

How the hell could he miss?! Grumbling softly, the Scyther was bleeding complaints the longer this went on. They were on even footing now, but… well, there was something off about the entire thing—

“MOVE!” was all Alexei could holler from where he was watching.

Ugh.

Why did he tend to space out like that?!

The Scyther had already dodged earlier but had come forward for an attack—so it was time to go on the defensive. Rubbing its appendages together, off it went in another burst of Agility, rocketing away in a backwards skidding maneuver, attempting to get out of range.

It was time to play bait and chase… at least until he could get closer enough and strike that little shit with another hit!

Or well that was the plan…

Things never went to plan.

While he was sure that these things only happened in fiction, well, who knew that the Sasuke was going to trip over something as he tried to get out of the way—and ended up flying off from where he’d landed instead.

“Sasuke! You ass!” Alexei shouted, pinching the bridge of his nose while resisting the urge to roll his eyes as he broke across the field and rushed over to where the dual-type had literally fallen over and couldn’t get up.

Ha, ha. What a meme.

He could only roll his eyes as he pinched the bridge of his nose again before giving the Scyther a bonk on the head. “Idiot,” was all he could say with a sigh before recalling the overly-proud dual-type in a flash of red light.

Now… where the fuck had that Snom gone off to?

Apparently there was a section of the arena that now had… rather large piles of snow. Oh dear.

“What are you even doing?” he said with another sigh, pulling out gloves and picking up the Snom before bringing it closer to where the… wherever the Gible was.

Oh, wait.

Aha, was all he had time to think of, his face almost splitting into a grin. Keeping his face as neutral as possible, he sighed yet again.

“Okay look don’t fuck this up. I don’t know how the hell you can use that but… get moving. And by that I mean use Tailwind!” he said once he’d returned to his vantage point.

Looks like this was going to be a battle uphill…

The Snom, with no visible wings (how the fuck was this even possible) then whipped up a wind that gave it… a… boost. How? He had no idea, it just… worked that way!

As a preemptive move, the Snom then breathed out an Icy Wind around itself just in case the little Gible decided to come too close and take a chomp out of its shell. Hah. Frostbite.

At least the little Snom got some ‘revenge’ for the now-resting Scyther. However, it wasn’t over—at least, not yet!

Maybe it was a good thing the Snom had Ice Scales as its ability after all. While the first attack hurt (how rude, hitting a lady) the Snom had made up its mind to… waddle.

Well, if not waddle, hide under the snow!

After taking the brunt of the first attack, the Snom decided… well, maybe it was time to tip the scales somewhat in their balance. Even if it was unbearably slow, the little dual-type had somehow, somehow managed to avoid the second attack—narrowly. Too close to call, yes?

After that, it was another attempt to repel the strange white-furred Pokémon back with another Icy Wind attack!
