Staring intently as the tension at the water's surface began to stir, the fish pokemon Derek would have snagged ended up being plucked right from it's hook by a wild Braviary. "...Or not." Shifting his attention from the blow to his confidence after losing the bet, Derek gives his Garchomp the look before gesturing at the bird of prey that rudely interrupted his sport. "Kseniya, would you be so kind?" Unable to hold back the smile when his pokemon accepted the task, the wild Braviary took note of their intentions and struck first with an Air Slash.

No doubt it was powerful, but Kseniya was battle hardened, having been at Derek's side longer than almost any other pokemon he befriended since coming to Hoenn. The Dragon Rush she employed managed to catch even a renowned avian off-guard, causing it to flinch. "Keep it up!" Derek demanded, keen on ending things with their next attack. This time Kseniya opened her maw, using the powerful jaws she had to Bite down on Barviary's left wing. Thrashing about with the bird still proving to be quite the mouthful, it's reluctance to fall unconscious could only last so long.

But when they finally did black out, it seemed Derek thought to reward the bird's fighting spirit by helping find a comfortable patch of grass for it to sleep on. This left the trainer free to cast his rod out once again, with Garchomp moving back to join the Charizard at their trainer's side.

Thankful that this time the thing that went for his lure was coming from under, not above the water, Derek couldn't help but enthusiastically reel with all he had. The Skrelp that plopped ashore did not seem very enthused, especially what with how it spewed Acid in an attempt to defend, or maybe even free itself. Derek couldn't really say, but his pokemon seemed to know the drill. "If you're looking to fight, Kseniya here is more than able..."

Eyeing the little seahorse that was preoccupied with the landshark standing over it's tiny frame, Derek wastes no time explaining their options. "Or you can make things easier by joining us willingly." After a few scarce moments of pondering, the Skrelp seems to take Derek's proposal and offers itself up for capture. "Smart choice. I like it."

Patting the little one on the head before using one of his five spare pokeballs to keep it safe, the trainer gestures for his Garchomp to follow along back to town. "Now that I've had my fun, let's go see if we can't get ahold of anyone."
