Of course it was a bloody Slaking. What else could it be?

Doug ran his lightly bandaged hand through his locks of hair, sighing at the sight of the fat, lazy pokemon splayed across the intersection in the middle of town, almost as if it had strategically chosen its resting place to most efficiently inconvenience every single citizen of Petalburg.

"Can ya believe this guy?" He said as he let his hand fall back to his side, huffing. "Couldn't even be a Snorlax, huh? That would've been too easy."

At least Snorlax's stayed asleep for the most part. If you were clever, you could get them out of the way with a Teleport or something without them even noticing.

A Slaking though? These big jerks were mostly awake, just unwilling to cooperate. And if you got too close... Well, you would be lucky to make it out in one piece.

Specially when dealing with one possessing no food or grass within his literal, immediate vicinity... Like this one.

"Well..." Said Doug, grasping a Net Ball, frowning at the large, arrogant monkey thing before throwing a look at Noel. "Might as well get to it, eh?"

A bit of odd chances but Noelani found himself working again alongside Doug again. Now that he thought about it, he been meeting the kid quite a lot recently though the bandages were a new thing for sure. For now, though he decided against commenting on that and instead focused on their current task. Another day of adding to the portfolio of Odd Job Workers.

Snorting in agreement the alolan added “Tell me about it. But hey it could have been worse like a wandering Tyranitar or something.” a small shudder at the memory did accompany that.

Observing the lazy pokemon Noelani took out a pokeball of his own and released Kala with the Bellossom quickly settling in a chirpy twirl and giving out a wave to Doug. Directing his attention towards the other trainer Noelani was quick to ask “So how do you want to do this? Kala here could try luring him with Sweet Scent but well” pausing he gestured towards the Slaking as if that explained everything before counting “…. you know. Though there is another method we could try if you have a reliable way to put him to sleep.”

Recently a few faces had finally managed to catch up to Noelani. Which meant that not only had things been wrapped up but the alolan also had access back to some old partners of his.

Doug simply shrugged at Noel, grinning.

"No need to run it by me. If ya got a plan, go for it." He said, holding onto his Net Ball for now. Noelani was pretty clever, from what he remembered, so he was fine with letting him take the lead.

"Just be careful to not be too obvious, eh?" He said, side eyeing the still splayed Slaking wearily.

The big fatsos might have been known for being, well, slackers, but they were also terribly clever. If it saw or heard them coming, it would definitely do something. It had to know what it was doing right now; the chances of its guard being completely down were few.

As if to confirm this, the Slaking's massive hand suddenly moved, arching through the air slowly... until it reached its stomach, scratching it lazily.

"It is the living, breathing visage of an Apex Predator." Said Doug, equally over dramatic and dry as he snorted.

Nodding along at what the other trainer said Noelani simply responded “Alright be back in a sec then.” with that he then moved back down the route they had come from. His destination was actually a clearing a bit into the wilderness but well the Slaking was lazy not dumb so it might have suspected something if he just saw the alolan veer into the trees suddenly.

So, after a bit of back tracking Noelani ended up half circling until he was some distance away from the wild pokemon. Turning towards his starter he spoke “Alright start using Sweet Scent. The smell should be enough to lure him hopefully and as it does you can lead him towards the clearing we talked about.”

Receiving a nod from the Bellossom was all Noelani needed before taking another detour and returning to where Doug was. Looking around the area for a moment he turned to the other trainer “Okay. I’ve laid the framework for my plan. Hopefully the scent Kala is spreading will hit here soon. Though that alone I suspect would not be enough. So how about we make this place uncomfortable to laze about for the Slaking by causing a commotion?”

That would be his suggestion and hopefully being hindrance would make them pokemon leave. Noelani was banking on it’s lazy nature to not attack them but instead just moved towards the temptation that Kala was trying to set up.

Slaking quite enjoyed the smell that the Bellossom was producing, but as should've perhaps been expected of a pokemon quite literally named the king of slackers, it made no effort whatsoever to move closer to the other pokemon, simply content to sniffle in delight at the wonderous fragrance.

Course, if it absolutely refused to move about but could equally not resist to sniffle the air for that delicious scent...

Doug blinked, an idea beginning to form in his noggin'.

"Actually, might not be necessary." He said, scratching at his chin in thought. Usually, he would be certain the Slacking would see such attempts coming and react in a... less than pleased manner. Since he seemed distracted, if not moved by the sweet scent though...

Doug signaled towards Noelani, mouthing the words just in case as he fiddled through his pokeballs.

'Got. any. Sleep. powder?' He asked. 'Cover. me.'

So far, the plan was half working seeing as the Slaking was at least interested in the smell that had started to drift in. Not it helped Noelani seeing as it proved too lazy to go after it. Rubbing at his chin he settled on thinking what to use to cause a discomfort that wouldn’t get them attacked but beyond causing a lot of noise and other side distraction he wasn’t coming up with anything too solid.

Mulling Doug’s question, the alolan quickly responded “No sleep powder unfortunately. One of mine does know Sing but well that could take a bit to take effect and I’m unsure how reliable it would be.”

Releasing another hum Noelani took out a pokeball and released an Alakazam. He gave Myrddin a grin which only prompted a roll of his partners eyes as he established a psychic connection. Noelani’s grin stretch a bit more as the Alakazam grumbled some more in turn. He knew the psychic type had missed him though just as much as he had missed Myrddin and well the undercurrent of impressions and feelings being sent were proof of that.

The alolan wouldn’t embarrass his pokemon like that and state it out loud though, keeping it mental was enough. Shifting back towards the other trainer Noelani addressed him “Alright I’ll follow your lead and if things go south well Myrddin is here for the brute force approach.”

"Yeah, let's hope it don'get'ere." Said the youth dryly, not interested in the least in seeing what a rampaging Slaking looked like.

Nodding at the Alakazam as it was brought out of its pokeball, he palmed two Net balls from under his jacket while pulling further and further away from sight, before finally throwing both out.

A Venomoth and a Vivillon appeared, the youth giving them a few seconds to get acquainted with their surroundings commanding their attention with a few hand gestures.

Trying to be silent as can be about it, the youth did his best to convey his instructions to his pokemon through charades before giving them a questioning waggle of the brows.

They both stared at him dryly, glancing between one another before staring him down.

"Go put it to sleep!" He hissed under his breath with a huff, pointing at the Slaking in the distance.

A short moment of realization later, the two bugs flew high in the air, before approaching the general sweet scent area, humming in delight at the fragance even as they both began to drop sleep powder over the general area, the scales being drawn into the air currents of the Bellossom's move.

The Slaking either did not realize this, or welcomed both the sweet scent and the sleep aid, because he snorted both up with gulps of breath.

Loud, powerful snores that simultaneously dragged in and pushed away everything around the king of slackers soon filled the area.

Eyeing the asleep Slaking Noelani resisted snorting in amusement in order to not inhale any stray Sleep Powder. Not that he actually had to worry about that as Myrddin could easily redirect the powder with his mind something that he was already doing with a few ones that had drifted towards the group. With that done it meant it was time to relocate the lazy pokemon to some other place far away enough to make him not wonder back here.

Rubbing his chin in thought he turned towards Doug “How far do you recon we should move him? The clearing I directed Kala to is close but I don’t know if it’s not too close and it would make the Slaking wander back here.”

As he was speaking his Alakazam got to work and with a simple flick of his hand enveloped the Slaking in psychic energy and then lifted up the pokemon in the air effortlessly with Telekinesis. Noelani’s eyes flickered to his pokemon to see if there was any strain which prompted the psychic equivalent of indignant huff directed in his mind from his partner.

Knowing Myrddin would be fine with the strain the alolan once more addressed the younger trainer “It shouldn’t be a problem regardless of how far we have to go though maybe you’ll have to administer Sleep Powder again if we go on for too long. For now, you can lead the way towards the clearing or any location you have in mind and we’ll follow along.”

With the Slaking asleep and in the Alakazam's psychic grasp, Noel's query was a good one. Doug simply shook his head, scratching at his hand.

"We're takin' it to the nearest Ranger's HQ." He said after a moment of thought, nodding at the other young man. "Best to leave it to the pros. Can't have it wakin' up while transportin' and who knows how far we can go on foot alone."

The rangers were experts at this kinda stuff. With the Slacking asleep they would surely be able to handle everything from here. Their job was done.

"Let's go, Noel!"

Ah Doug did have a point with his suggested location and the fact Noelani hadn’t mentioned the ranger HQ was totally not because he had forgotten about it or thought to contact the actual authorities, no sir. Nodding in confirmation he added “Sure let’s go deliver them this large order.”

As soon as he said that Noelani would then nod towards his Alakazam and signal that it was time to move. Huffing an agreement Myrddin would change the direction and float the Slaking closer to the group. After that they would begin their trek to the nearest ranger HQ which didn’t take admittedly that long to reach.

They were obviously noticed and two rangers came out to greet them before they could get too close to the HQ. Waving cheerfully at duo Noelani would address them “Hello There! Where do you want this bad boy put away?” the sound of the Slaking touching the ground accompanied him saying that. Even if he wanted the alolan resisted the urge to slap the body of the pokemon to further accent his point and instead settled with grinning at the rangers mischievously.

Scrambling the rangers contacted someone before they got started at securing the wild pokemon. At this point both Noelani and Doug’s job was done so they were free to leave. Turning to the younger trainer Noelani rose a hand “Well that was fun. With how things are going I guess I’ll see ya around Doug.” before parting way with the other trainer.
