Standing at the beach edge watching as the cold crystal waters receded from the warm sand. Dakota sighed helplessly watching as litter was swept away back into the deep ocean. He never understood a persons reasoning to leave their trash on the beach it was disappointing to see that Hoenn still treated beaches this way. Seems like somethings never changed as in the past he also volunteered to clean up any trash that lingered about.

The oceans gentle breeze ruffled Dakota's black hair though the man didn't express any care. Instead he was quite pleased inhaling to enjoy the refreshing scent of the salty waters. He looked back to check up on Lilith to see how she had been doing and he smiled to see her working diligently. He asked Lilith to assist him on an impulse, but he was very grateful that he did so, it was great to have her around. Dropping the half full trash bag that he had been carrying around Dakota walked over to Lilith. "Great work. How about we take a break before we continue?" The man suggested, giving a quick glimpse around the area.

While there was still a number of trash lying about. With only two people trying to clean an entire beach he figured their work has been splendid.

[attr="class","hanatext"]There are always two sides to a coin, contrasting elements that will always work together to encompass the nature of the world itself. With nature comes beauty, bountiful and everlasting even as humans encroach on her space and trample upon her fragile blossoms. She isn't quite one to yield to their stubbornness nor their destructive tendencies but sometimes, her lack of a voice makes it hard for her to convey the harm that's been inflicted on her soul.

Lilith hears her call all too clearly, feels her pain even if she doesn't understand what needs to be done and it haunts her like a waking nightmare. Broken plastics and empty glass bottles lay scattered amidst a field of ripped flyers, a sinful battleground of waste and litter lost to the sand as crystal waves crash upon the shores of Slateport City. She remembers having been here not too long ago, thrown into a conversation with a stranger as she tried to catch a breather before continuing her journey through Hoenn - The beach had been much cleaner then, free of any leftovers and signs of human activity. So how exactly had things devolved so quickly?

People are garbage. She can almost hear the contempt in Yule's thoughts as the Alolan Vulpix turns her nose up at yet another aluminium can, her tails bristling with indignance as she flips it out of the sand. Then with a sharp turn towards the outgoing tide, Yule gently puffs her cheeks, a light blue ball forming in front of her mouth as she exhales and freezes a small patch of water.

"Sometimes, people are just... people." Stepping closer to the water's edge, Lilith can only offer her companion a rather useless explanation as she picks up the chunk of ice and examines the trash caught within. "They don't... really think much about things that inconvenience them..." Carefully breaking pieces of litter from the ice, she collects what should not remain and tosses them into her trash bag, holding it wide enough for Yule to kick another bottle in. Dakota's words almost drift over her head, the girl way too focused on her task as she tosses yet another soggy flyer into the bag.

But perhaps it really is time to take a break, a strained squint and a short bark from the vulpine signalling a possible tantrum on the horizon. Dropping her own bag, Lilith kneels down to scoop the Vulpix into her arms, bouncing her gently as she comforts her with quiet murmurs.

"Do people here just... not care about the beach? Or its pokemon...?"

It was understandable to see that Lilith had been frustrated. It was good to see that she cared, Dakota had many incidents where he caught people around her age thoughtlessly littering. Though he didn’t put much blame on them - he also wasn’t the best when it came to recycling considering it to be to much of a hassle. Since he didn’t recycle, the least he could do was pick up some trash that ended up on the beach. Lumi’s eyes brightened upon seeing Yule freeze a small patch, compared to Yule Lumi’s ice powers were relatively weak since she’d been born frail. The vulpix would chirp eagerly, and began to run around in a circle enticing Yule to play along.

His shoulders shifted awkwardly looking directly at Lilith who was clearly unhappy and she deserved to feel that way - but something about it made him uneasy. “There are people who don’t care but.. look” Pointing slightly up ahead, footsteps of other people trailed in warm sand. They had been countless others working to ensure that the beach would once again sparkle. “I think there are a lot more people who do actually care then those who don’t and that’s what matters right?” Dakota asked with a small smile, quickly swiping a hand against his forehead to wipe off the beads of sweat.

Crouching down next to her, he would hand her a water bottle. Drink up and rest for a bit” he would tell her as he continued to pick up small pieces of trash that managed to get buried under some of the sand.

AN INJURED AUDINO lays on a sand smothered rock nearby the tidal pools. Its breaths are as shallow as the waters it rests beside. Obviously, this Pokemon is injured; however, from what? It is hard to discern from a distance.[break][break]

[attr="class","hanatext"]Being naive sure is a blessing, how those words linger on her mind, a light grimace quietly hidden as she turns her face towards the sea. While there are those who also volunteer to help out with this clean up, she can never quite be certain of their motives behind their actions - To gain a few extra street credits? To earn a little extra money? To provide them a platform by which they can boast of their chivalry? At least those who don't really care about the state of the beach are open about it and in turn, she may openly hate them back.

Silence is the only answer she provides, a gentle nod of acknowledgement given as she places Yule back onto the ground and receives the water bottle with open hands. It isn't quite her business to go around bursting the bubbles of those around her. Whether they are ever faced with the true nature of reality or she is to be proven wrong about the kinds of people that exist, she finds it easier to get by in life when she keeps her cynicism to herself. And that thought is only reinforced as she watches the two Vulpix begin to prance around each other, with Yule finally tagging Lumi into the sand.

With how calm everything seems to be, she almost forgets why she's here at all. But just before she can truly take a moment to relax, her attention is snagged by a rather chilling sight - A lone, injured Audino moored amidst a lapping ocean tide. It's as if something possesses her within those few seconds, the girl rapidly scrambling to her feet and closing the distance.

Why do they always…

Though she's conscious of the scars that mar her skin, there's something about this situation that pushes her to remove her jacket, a child's understanding of discomfort meaning the prioritisation of providing the Audino warmth. Her gaze darts across the healer's body, grasping for any and all injuries as she tries her best to determine what she should do next.

Humans really are the worst.

Silence was the only response he was given. Dakota sighed softly, it was understandable but part of him wondered what Lilith had been thinking, for the short time he’s known the girl; she’s proven to be quite the mysterious individual. Not that there was anything wrong with it, but there was a small desire for Dakota to get to know Lilith more, maybe that way he could become closer in understanding her. He smiles gently when she accepts the water bottle, taking a moment to sip some of the refreshing water himself. He glanced up at the clear sky, watching as large fluffy white clouds lazily drifted by and nearby wingull’s soaring freely throughout the blue sky.

With how quiet things became, Dakota shut his eyes for a few moments it had been a few years since he had last visited the beach; he was happy to once again sit under the warmth of the sun and have the sun kissed sand shift under his toes. Since he had been enjoying the brief period of relaxation, it didn’t occur to him that Lilith had ran off somewhere, upon opening his eyes and noticing that the girl was once again gone was when he realized it. Catching her running towards the shore, Dakota rushed after her he wasn’t sure what had gotten into her but he was sure it was for a good reason.

Like before Lilith proved to be an absolute rabbit when it came to running, Dakota had a hard time keeping up, but once he got close enough he finally saw that there was an injured Pokémon. It was a little hard to believe his own eyes, an Audino out of all pokemon looked to be badly injured. Seeing how the pokemon couldn’t heal itself he figured that audino was to weak, the best solution would to help recover it’s strength. He wasn’t sure how to handle the situation; never really having to do any emergency treatment. “I think our best bet would to.. help restore it’s strength.”

[attr="class","hanatext"]Though her mind remembers that she isn't alone in this matter, Lilith's body betrays her with an instinctive flinch, her fingers grasping onto the Audino's hand as she tenses up. The person that stands behind her isn't one that offers a knife but rather someone who yields solid advice - While her heart struggles to open up, she's already searching for options on how to restore its strength.

"Life dew?" She recalls having her own burns healed away by such a move, a gentle Togekiss blessing them with kindness she's rarely used to receiving. "I don't have anyone that knows that…"

There's probably some other methods that she isn't thinking of, her hands quickly opening the bottle she'd taken and nudging the Audino to take a sip. At the very least, having some water in its system should help, right?

Life dew would be perfect for this instance. However like Lilith, Dakota doesn't possess a pokemon that knows the move. "The next best thing would be.." He speaks quietly most for himself but loud enough for Lilith to also hear him.

He drops down his backpack onto the soft sand, grabbing oran berries which had been sealed in a plastic bag. Dakota unsealed it giving Lilith a gentle nudge as he handed her the bag. "This should help her regain her strength somewhat." He explained, though he was upset he didn't have anything more useful.

[attr="class","hanatext"]Berries, of course. In the midst of all her echoing thoughts, Lilith had forgotten the basic healing properties of food itself. Carefully taking the berries from Dakota's hand, she splits it into smaller pieces just so the Audino doesn't choke while swallowing. It takes a while but eventually, all the berries disappear, graciously accepted by the blessed healer.

Ocean eyes flutter ever so slightly, consciousness returned as she soaks in the warmth of the jacket. Though it's small, there's no denying the light that flickers in Lilith's eyes, her lips tightening ever so slightly as she cradles the Audino in her arms.

"Hi there…" She hums, "you're gonna be okay…" No matter how many times those words leave her tongue, Lilith is never sure if she can trust them. "Are you able to heal yourself? Don't force yourself to if you can't…" And yet, something about Dakota's presence assures her that she can, that those words will not fail her this time around.

"Should we try to get her to a nearby Pokecenter just in case?" Spying the flattening of Yule's ears, the girl turns to Dakota for any further advice. The idea is one that she's seemingly uncomfortable with, but no amount of shuffling her feet or picking her nails will get her to abandon the best course of actions in ensuring a pokemon's wellbeing.

Dakota sighed out of relief when the Audino seemed to recuperate just a little by eating the berries, it was a reminder to always carry them around since they could be useful in unexpected ways. He silently observed Lilith as she cradled the pokemon, resulting in a smile from the man. He would then nod to her inquiry, “That would be the best option” Dakota would nod and pull out his phone to check the map, locating the closest pokecenter nearby. “Great there’s one a few blocks down that way” They would need to leave the beach, but it was a short walk.

Dakota would then rise, brushing off the sand that sticked onto his clothing. His vulpix was already headed in the way they needed to go, “Let’s get going”

[attr="class","hanatext"]Did she really make the right choice? Though Dakota assures her that she has, Lilith finds herself hesitating before the edge.

It's good for the Audino, not for us. Silence grips herself like a heavy veil, swathing her in a tumult of emotions as her heart sinks. One visit can't hurt. She pulls herself to her feet, consciously brushing the scars that litter her arms as she beckons Yule to follow. We'll be gone within hours anyways. She promises herself, already prepping any excuses she might have to leave early and cover as much ground as she possibly can.

"Okay..." She agrees, but she knows those words are empty. In the face of unforgotten memories, nothing she says can be taken as the whole truth. "Hope they're not too busy..."

Her steps are quick, hastened by the gentle wave of nausea that washes over her. Everything should be fine as long as she leaves no traces...
