what he comes across is both a treasure and worthless. the gible is too small to make anything out of, not when his time is better spent elsewhere. but knowing what the pokemon turns into, having a garchomp himself, shows the innate potential and value that the pokemon has. after a quick thought, fernando decides to add the pokemon to his roster, if only as a place holder and eventual trade material. for most pokemon, he can buy his way into obtaining them, but for the more rare and elusive species, proud collectors prefer equally rare pokemon in exchange. for those types of trainers, fernando keeps his stock of surplus pokemon ready and waiting. strong arming his way into every transaction proves too tedious a task, and much too risky considering his current position.
a snap of his ball, and a small thud later, reveals the garchomp in his repertoire. faced against its previous form, the pokemon have no trouble subduing the smaller pokemon and leaving it in a prime condition for fernando to capture. "do you appreciate your progress?" fernando asks his pokemon aloud. the garchomp doesn't answer, instead staring the the unconscious gible. watching another of its species line laid out, belly up, vulnerable to the pokeball that comes, leaves the garchomp with mixed feelings.
"things won't be pretty but be content with knowing that you'll never be on the opposite end. you may lose on occasion, and even i will, but we will never take defeat lying down."
the garchomp huffs. fernando can't read the dragon but accept the answer regardless. the rest of the walk is uneventful at best.
