OMG!!! Melody was SO PROUDDD glitch maverick became a gym leader! In a nearby city that she could visit at all the time too! She made her way right over on too as she was one of the first people who signed up to the gym. Most people would wait in the lobby for the gym leader or whoever was meant to get them would wait. But melody was an impatient person so she bolted right through the doors screaming for glitch. "MI AMORRRR" she shouted as she ran down whichever hallway she could find until she found herself in the battle area.

it was one thing that he had to deal with the fact that he was grieving over his cousins loss. it was another thing that he had to deal with the fact that he was now doing mass amounts of paperwork and working an actual job. but the straw that was breaking the camperupts back was someone fucking signing up to his gym challenge using his dead cousin's name. if he didn't know any better he would have thought it was a cruel prank by that dumb bitch emma. they might have both been rocket but that didn't mean he had to like her in an capacity. it also didn't mean he had to tolerate her bullshit either.

so when it was the appointed time for his challenger to show up he wasn't sure if he was going to break her kneecaps or her hands first. what he wasn't expecting was the sound of Melody Miro 's voice ringing through the hallway of his gym or the bounce of pink hair to appear down below his balcony where his desk stood. "melody?" it couldn't actually be her, right? he knew she was dead. everyone there knew she was dead... if she wasn't then why would angelo say she had fucking... died? none of it made sense. he had to be mistaken. this had to be some sort of sick joke.

climbing down his ladder he felt his heart beating and his throat closing just a bit. he was mad and anxious all at once. but he couldn't show it right now. not when he didn't know what was going on. "what are you... doing here?" was his gym already fucking haunted or something?

She launched herself into his arms and gave glitch the biggest possible squeeze she could muster and planting a big ol wet one on his cheek. "I'm so PROUD OF YOUUU" she smiled before releasing him, what a strange question. "Of course I'd come to offer my support and I want to be the first one to challenge you! Hello?! My cousin began a Gym Leader and close to my own too! Of course I'd want to be one of your first challengers!" she said grinning from ear to ear [break][break]

"It's pretty nice in here by the way, did you design it? It's a pretty nice theme! Matches you pretty well" she asked curiously, and offering compliments. Melody had someone help her with hers since she wasn't the best at architecture. However she provided a pretty good description of what she had wanted.

he felt dizzy, like he was going to pass out or something because of all of this. but he had to stay cool, calm and collected. he would figure this out eventually but for now, his cousin was back. in front of him. and alive. and really that was all he could hope for. he'd missed her and grieved for her. had still been grieving for her. and yet here she was. but instead of freaking her out he just swallowed every bit of emotion that wasn't a positive one down into his deepest gut in order to deal with it later. he could scream later.

"i'll tell you all about it don't worry! we can compare notes on challengers!" that's right, just keep with the normal conversation. he could do this. "i designed it on my own with a little inspiration from Zac Ramsay if we're being honest. i entered one of his contests or whatever and it made me super curious about all of this." and that was the truth at least. "we've never actually battled each other." so there was going to be a first time for everything.

Was something on glitch's mind? Hmmmmm Melody stared intensely at glitch for a few moments before going NAHHHH to herself mentally. Of course glitch was just so happy to see her! Right? After all their last meeting was pretty crazy the entire time. [break][break]

Melody wasn't able to make sure for herself that glitch was ok, she just had placed faith in kyle lopez telling the truth. As melody remembered it, she had gotten separated from the group and had to defend against the pokemon who were fighting her with hypno as kyle went back to try and stop them from chasing him! [break][break]

The promise of sharing notes with melody for challengers was actually a pretty useful idea. Melody needed to know more about the people currently challenging the gym circuits as her show must go on challenge was pretty hinging on them answering the questionnaire honestly which was a pretty easy to see way to trick her. Melody smiled as glitch mentioned this being the first battle [break][break]

"Yeah I know! How exciting! I wonder who's gonna have the upper hand." she said putting her thumb and index finger on her chin as she took her place in the arena. "But only one way to find out right?" She threw out her first two pokemon onto their proper places gardevoir and toxtricity! The punk rocker and his princess.

if melody wasn't concerned about her previous potential death then neither did he. well. he did. but he wasn't going to be the one to bring it up. not when maybe he had been mistaken. after all as far as he knew no one at the excursion was a doctor or anything. but that would have to something he processed later. for now he could just focus on the task at hand, beating her at a gym battle. if she was ready to start this battle then so was he. taking his spot on the stage he grabbed two of his many pokeballs and tossed them up in the air. duo battles weren't his favorite thing but he was going to do his best. that was for sure.

"i won't go easy on you just because you're my cousin!" releasing two of his pokemon, the tyrantrum ruffles and the copperajah peanut butter. they would work well against her two chosen pokemon he was pretty sure. at least he could hope they would. he hadn't really been paying that much attention to the whole thing. and he'd never really worked with either of these pokemon yet. "start off hard with crunch and high horsepower!" they were going to go in charging with this whole thing, ruffles teeth glowing with dark energy as he raced forward to bite down on the gardevior and peanut butter following behind to ram into the toxicitry at full speed.

A good tempo! Glitch was smart to not give melody any room to breathe. He even used moves that would really strong against toxtricity so Melody played defensive at first "Toxtricity! Use protect!" she ordered as a soft green ball of energy coated the toxtricity due to PROTECT that was stalwart in it's defense against the high horsepower. Gardevoir on the other hand didn't move out of the way in time and fell victim to the crunch attack to which Melody let out a small smirk as it was her intent to let it happen. [break][break]

She didn't like her Pokémon getting hurt but it was a sure fire way to ensure her next tactic "Gardevoir! Let's put that baby to rest! Hypnosis!" Gardevoir's eyes flashed blue and it's gaze locked onto tyrantrum's and the psychic power began to try and work it's way into the Pokémon's landscape via HYPNOSIS. [break][break]

As gardevoir was working on that Melody took a second to switch back over to Toxtricity, "Toxic! Quick make sure he doesn't interrupt her with an overdrive!" The Pokémon then took a moment before strumming it's organ as it seemed to be powered up by it's PUNK ROCK ability and firing off an OVERDRIVE attack soundwave as an electric current followed and was aimed right towards Copperjah.

neither one of them were going to take this easily, not when there was a badge on the line and some confusion still in glitch's mind about what was going on. there was no time for pleasantries until after the battle. for now he needed to concentrate on what was going on. win or lose he wasn't going to give an easy badge away. "tank it ruffles!" after all an electric type move wouldn't hurt the dinosaur as badly as it would peanut butter. he took the attack in stride, electricity crackling over his scales as he prepared another attack. "double rocks let's go!" with his trunk peanut butter grabbed one of the rocks on the field to throw it in a rock smash at the toxicitry. while in turn they also glowed around ruffles, hitting the other rock in an attempt to create an explosion as they impacted.

No reply huh? Oh well then time to focus on the battle! The electricity collided with Ruffle's body and pulsed over ruffles as it damaged to Pokémon. Alright! At least that landed on glitch's Pokémon! However now it seemed like both Pokémon were now targeting Toxtricity. In all honestly it was a good move since the Pokémon's protect was down at the moment and needed time to recharge. [break][break]

He released the gardevoir from it's grip during the rock smash fired at toxtricity, and the gardevoir leaped backwards gracefully when the opportunity arose."Trace, copperjah!" as gardevoir's trace ability activated and gardevoir gained an aura of power around it due to sheer force. Toxtricity had little in options however as protect was down and it was not the fastest pokemon, but that's where gardevoir was to step in. The attacks were successful on toxtricity as the explosion managed to damage her toxtricity pretty heavily but melody gave gardevoir another command "Heal pulse toxtricity, toxtricity return the favor with a boom burst on them!" as psychic energy crackled on gardevoir's body and released a pulse of psychic energy to heal toxricity's wounds! [break][break]

Toxtricity got up as the psychic energy melded with it's body, not fully healing the Pokémon but doing enough to let it get back up. Toxtricity held it's hand up in the air for a moment as punk rock charged up the sound move again and fired an even stronger blast of sound at the two opposing pokemon via boom burst.

he really should have picked a pokemon with soundproof for this battle. it wasn't going to look good for him to lose like this but at least it would be to his cousin. though he would really prefer not to lose at all. but he wasn't down and out yet. not when this was just the first part of the battle and his pokemon were still on their feel "you're strong, i guess that's part of why they made you a gym leader too." since he was still figuring things out then maybe people would forgive him for being severely under prepared. but he wasn't going to let his nerves get the better of him.

"defense and shake." peanut butter shimmered as iron defense started to cover her body to stop from taking too much more damage and ruffles began to stop on the ground, shaking it up so that hopefully they would get a multi-hit too. the only unfortunate part was that there was a little more shaking and rattling than he would like with peanut butter getting a bit rattled too.

"Duh! But so are you!" She smiled as glitch turned the heat on toxtricity again and her smile slowly began to turn into one of panic. Toxtricity took the brunt of the attack and gardevoir was also hit by it, gardevoir managed to get back up with relatively normal damage done to it...but toxtricity on the other hand? Well his ass was laid out flat on the ground from the four times effective ground move landing on it. [break][break]

The battle is paused as melody rushed up to the toxtricity and hugged him. "Oh no im sorry toxtricity.." She said hugging him tightly as it gave a thumbs up to her and she recalled it back into it's pokeball. Melody rushed back to her spot on the battlefield as she put his pokeball away. He did very well for the situation he was placed into, she'd have to think of something to do about it's weakness to ground type attacks.[break][break]

"I shoulda thought harder about using toxtrcity knowing the theme of your gym huh? Oh well, time to think of a strategy to use against that. Oh by the way, are we allowed to use z moves and mega evolutions?" she says outloud as she was curious on the gym's ruling for it.[break][break]

"Onto the next song! Primarina!" she said out loud as her primarina landed with a beautiful flourish and they both took a bow at the same time. "I'm ready! Primarina! Lets give them a beautiful duet with gardevoir! A song of fire and ice!" she calls out as Primarina and gardevoir prepared their duet, Gardevoir fires a MYSTICAL FIRE empowered by SHEER FORCE as she drew a circle in the air with her hands and a blast of fire emerged from it and flew towards Cooperjah. Then Melody's primarina let loose a powerful note that froze the air in front of her before firing it at both glitch's Pokémon.

there was only so much that a pair of pokemon could do for so long and it seemed like his two were finally at the end of their ropes, especially with the icy wind buffetting at them. "i'd like for them to not destroy my gym to be honest, it took a lot of time and money getting this place together." glitch hated when his pokemon actually fainted so out went the pokeballs to return to him as they started to teeter and totter a little bit too much for his liking. "shit, two in one. you're good. and you've still got three pokemon left." that was a little bit worrisome. but nonetheless he sent out jerky and slushie. his hopefully ace in the holes with this fight. he wasn't going to let her keep the upper hand. "that just means we have to go harder than ever i think." that meant he wasn't wasting any time with this as ice began to freeze around slushie's gills and he raced forward with one of his strongest attacks. it was no more mister nice guy. jerky glowed for a moment, rocks lifting and racing towards the gardevoir. he needed to get rid of one of them at least.

"Fair!" she adds as even she feared that the megas or z moves would destroy her gym. Probably even bring harm to those who came to watch the matches as well and that was a no go! Back to the battle! [break][break]
Gardevoir was going to try and teleport out of the way, but this pokemon was a lot faster than the previous attack! The attack flew straight into gardevoir, her psychic powers shattering the rock before it slammed her into an obstacle but letting her fall onto her knees and Melody recalled her as she was about to collapse onto the floor. [break][break]

Primarina was then fired upon with a freeze dry which was super effective as well against the water type causing a good chunk of damage to primarina, however the pokemon at least seemed to be healthy as she tried to get some of the ice out of her hair. [break][break]
"Ah damn it, Gardevoir was knocked out huh? You're a lot better than I expected glitch!" she says "I can feel the care you put into your pokemon." she compliments him. [break][break]

Without hesitation Melody sends out her Lapras. "It's time to kick things into overdrive huh!?" she shouts as her pokemon cheered back in response. Time to focus down one pokemon! "Primarina! Give Jerky a moon blast and Lapras follow it up with a drill run!" she orders Primarina gathers fae energy in her hands and launches it towards jerky and Lapras leaps into the air and uses a drill run on the ball, causing it to coat her body in the same pink attack and rush towards Jerky.

better than she expected? what was she expecting him to be god awful at battling like he had been so many other things? well, truth be told he wasn't exactly great at battling but that didn't stop him from becoming a gym leader. it also didn't stop him from wanting to win this battle. as many questions as he had for melody he also just wanted to show off how good he was. even if it was for someone who might not have actually been his cousin. but if this was a deep fake then it was a really fucking good one.

"i've been working hard, after all it's been awhile since i found anything fun to do." though his work with rocket was kind of fun sometimes. but he really couldn't tell melody about that. could he? she was firmly in the league's pocket. and that had nearly gotten her killed. "slushie tank it! don't let jerky take the hits." arctovish were defensive pokemon. one that's face doubled as a shield. so as the pokemon slid in front of the dracozolt it's gills flared to take the hits. it sucked that it had to take both of the attacks but he wasn't about to let jerky get knocked out so easy this time.

as slushie slid backwards from the force a bit it's mouth opened wide, releasing a blizzard attack at them. "charge it out jerky! show them what you're made of." electricity crackled over the dracozolt's scales as it rushed towards the primarina, lowering its head to try and give it a real shock.
