he had, a lot of shit he needed to catch up on with Miles Sharp since the last time he had seen him. after all the last time he hadn't been a gym leader. so really it felt like everything was different. especially since he had apparently found something that would be fun and useful for his gym. even if glitch was a bit doubtful. "that seems really strange that a weird fossil thing would just be hanging out here. i'm always here and i've never seen a fossil... and i've been looking a lot." but if miles said he saw it then he wasn't going to argue with it. not when he needed it. plus some bonding time would be fun. he liked hanging out with his fellow rockets for a good time. at least some of them. and he really wanted to introduce miles to Chu-e Choi at some point.

"well! i have a fun announcement!" he clapped his hands together nicely as he still looked around, poking at a bush that might have had a pokemon in it. of course it came up with nothing. a fossil wasn't going to be hanging out in a bush or whatever. "you know how there was a gym vacancy? well, i applied... and got accepted!" he'd only shared the news with a couple people so far. and now he was scrambling to get more pokemon that could be viable for his gym theme of ancient beasts. he had a few but more was always better. absolutely more was always better.

An eyebrow raises as his fossil hunting cohort prepares his announcement. Glitch always seemed to be up to something or another, he was a jovial sort and easy to get along with despite or perhaps due to his eccentricities. It's true the rocket simply grew on others and Miles was no exception. And so when he finally decided to spill the darker-skinned rocket couldn't help but feel more than a tinge of happiness for his acquaintance. "I didn't know you had any kind of interest in the league challenge, and now you're a gym leader? Once again you prove to be full of surprises Glitch, congratulations really." Miles offers a rare smile before his eyes focus back on the route not forgetting about the reason for their excursion in the first place.

In all honesty, this was great for the rocket. It could serve as a way out of the life if Glitch wanted it to, and even having that option was something to celebrate, not that they'd take it. "I'll be sure to drop some flowers by on opening day, though I must ask, what's the theme of your new domain?" All gyms had something of a theme in the old days they were type-specific, but the challenge had evolved long since then, leaving an assortment of new combinations for leaders to attempt. Glitch was certainly a creative type and Miles could only imagine what tricks he had stored for his unsuspecting challengers.

of course Miles Sharp didn't think glitch was the type to do a gym challenge, and that's because given under any other circumstances he probably would have turned his nose up at it. but after doing a contest himself and realizing how good of a spot it put him in to actually gather information from rocket how could he say no? "i did one of Zac Ramsay's gym challenges and it was pretty fun, so i figured why not?" after all he was a personable fellow. he was really good at what he did and that was gather information and win people over. it was fun. "ancient beasts of course, fossils and old as hell pokemon." it would quickly become obvious why he was out here now with that answer.

"i opened the gym and realized i was short a few pokemon. unless everyone wants to battle the same three pokemon i've got of course." and that would get boring and predictable fucking fast. and then of course he saw it, one of the reasons he was even out here. the last pokemon he needed for his galarian fossil collection. with a squeal he stomped his feet some and pointed as the ugly thing lumbered in front of them. "it's here it's here it's here!" holding onto the pokeball in his hand he tossed it, much like a softball player would at home plate in order to catch the beast. his excitement levels were over the fucking moon.

"As good a reason as any." That much was true despite his feelings on the league as an organization. Miles listens to the man quietly allowing him to gush about his position and how it came to be more than content to let his acquaintance talk. His cheerfulness was pleasant in spurts and he'd more than earned it. When the fossil comes he pulls a Pokeball only to hear the fossil gym leader cheer about the very odd-looking fossil pokemon. He minimizes his own ball with a good-natured huff and allows the leader to snag the quarry, though he wouldn't let up on the next. His eyes watch a rimbombee pass through unleashing an aromatherapy perhaps as a means to pollinate the wildflowers in the area, regardless the move was soothing and Miles had no reason to combat the fairy-type pokemon. It reminded him of a Milcery's Aroma Veil almost.

"I absolutely loathe to say I told you so, after all, I'm not so petty a man to weigh it over you of course." He notes the gym leader's former disbelief concerning fossil pokemon existing in this area, "However, if I were one named Glitch Maverick I'd be very quick to apologize for any possible misconceptions about what pokemon are found here." He teases lightly waiting to see if Glitch's pokeball was sufficient.

"Oh I have a piece of good news as well." In truth it was this news that kept the man's spirits up for a good portion of the week. "I have something of a... date this weekend." He says it casually hesitating momentarily before revealing the news to his coworker returning the unused pokeball to his pocket.

he held the pokeball up triumphantly at Miles Sharp when it finally clicked shut. "this was the last one i needed for the galarian collection! once i've got it trained up it'll be perfect for my gym!" he was so excited right now as he gently placed it in the same pocket as the rest of the fossil pokemon he had. he didn't bother only carrying six pokemon at once. after all he was a rocket why the hell did he have to follow stupid league rules? if he needed a pokemon he wanted to have it on hand. not wait around until he could get to one of their pc's that monitored what pokemon every single person had and stored.

"i'm sooooooooooooo sorry miles that i didn't believe a fossil was walking around this place." even though he really wasn't sorry entirely. it was just one of those things. but he'd humor his new friend just a little bit because it was fun. "with who? who could you have possibly met on the sub that you want to kiss? because i'm telling you some of them look like eligible bachelors but i've seen their porn histories." and some of them were really gross and weird. but if that was what miles was into he wasn't going to judge. glitch just hoped he liked sharing a bed with those anime waifu body pillows.

“Apology accepted.”Despite the fellow rocket’s sarcasm Miles gives a curt response playing on Glitch’s elongated one all the while watching his younger retrieve the new capture.

Upon opening the discussion of his upcoming date with Stormy Silph Miles would roll his eyes. “I could think to name a few.” He’s honest, but with no plans on revealing who exactly on that submarine seemed like a halfway decent partner as unkempt as many of them were. “You’re too hard on them, and a personal note, perhaps it’d be better to keep your nose out of your colleagues personal data, search history especially?” Advice that’d most likely go unheard, not to say Miles wasn’t in the slightest bit curious, but he liked to think of himself as a professional and what his coworkers sought in their spare time was no business of his moreover it’d be harder to look many of them in the eye if he knew what freudian nonsense went on in the back of their brains.

As he speaks the duo would come across a sleeping Pangoro and while he had no personal interest in the pokemon some extra muscle to help around the labs and his personal life would be appreciated, and so on a whim he lobs a ball saved for a fossil in an attempt to capture the fighting type pokemon.

“As for the who, that’s a secret. I will say it’s no one in base.” he gives the man that much at least before continuing. “I’m worried, dating outside of rocket.” He confesses, “I don’t want to subject someone I care about to the dangers of our lifestyle, but it’s so rare to connect with someone like we did. I’ve also admittedly been out of the game for my fair share of years so I’m at a bit of a stalemate.” Miles’ way of asking for advice without asking for advice.

Glitch had been in rocket longer than he and so there may have been a hidden jewel of knowledge within the new gym leader.

glitch could sympathize with dating outside of rocket. after all the guy he had a massive crush on was the sweetest guy in the world and he wanted him to have nothing to do with rocket. he also didn't exactly want him to know that he was in rocket either. he had a feeling ciel just wouldn't understand. so he would just keep it secret. "if they didn't want me to find out they would look at it on a secure connection and not just the regular hook ups. it's not my fault i just stumble on it." maybe it actually was but he wasn't going to talk about that. he just wanted to blame them for not using cyber security while cybering.

"the guy i'm sort of seeing has no idea i'm in rocket. it makes things easier and whatever to keep up appearances outside of the sub." at least that was what he was telling himself. he also told himself that it was perfectly normal that a giant fairy type would just appear as he was talking about ciel. talk about luck. especially since it was one he wanted for his gym. with a flick of the wrist he tossed the pokeball at the creature and tried not to think about how much risk he was putting ciel in. "you just have to ask yourself if the risk outweighs the rewards. and ask yourself if you can protect them if the time comes." that was something Miles Sharp would really have to think about. how far he would go for them if the need arose.

A small steel type would rise from the dirt below its head peeking out just in time to watch a grimmsnarl find itself enwrapped in red light, soon after a second ball would follow encapturing the curious steel type. "Rocket Agent, Gym Leader, and VPN spokesperson. what's next for Glitch Maverick I wonder?" He doesn't even flinch in his sardonic response to his coworker's lack of cyber boundaries.

Glitch's advice on the issue at hand is far wiser than he expects from the eccentric gym leader. It was tame - solid, speaking to the possible severity of the situation. And there's doubt in the fresher coworker's response. Could he protect her? Shit, most of the time he felt like he couldn't protect himself. To his credit slowly Miles was acquiring strength he could feel it in each training session in how he responded to events around him now. That said he'd been unable to protect anyone who mattered before, it was how he ended up in Rocket in the first place. The thought lingers more than he appreciates.

"Very apt advice. If I didn't know any better I'd say you've done a fair share of thinking on the conundrum yourself." and he had; seeing as he was in the same situation after all. Rocket's were people just as much as anyone else and with this job, career, or whatever it was that they decided to call it, it was without a shadow of a doubt dangerous.
