the question is addressed to the urshifu, who was distracted with a bed of flowers. it turns blankly to kyle and nods, though the uncertainty with its movements brings kyle to believe that his pokemon was just on auto-pilot.

"ike."

the repeat of its name in a neutral tone scares the urshifu like a child with an uncharacteristically nice parent. it leaves the flower bed and approaches kyle nervously, unsure if it's in trouble or not.

ike ♂ - unseen fist - surging strike / aqua jet / aerial ace / detect / iron head / dynamic punch

ike was definitely ready now. he hops from one foot to another with hyperactive energy as they continue their stroll through the wilds.

eventually, they spot someone that might be a challenge. kyle stares at the grimmsnarl for a moment before realizing that it has moves it can learn that's unique to it. that alone was enough reason to catch it.

"use-"

before the command can even be said, the urshifu lunges into action. a quick strike with its foot on the wild pokemon's chest leaves the grimmsnarl momentarily gasping for air. the urshifu follows it up with an iron head, leaving it unconscious right afterwards.

"o-okay."

kyle tosses a pokeball without any other questions.
