Lex glanced curiously at the pink pokemon that emerged into their path. There was something familiar about it. Killian Decker had something like this, yes? The vague memory of their encounter with Darkrai on the desolate beach bounced to the forefront of her thoughts. What wild memory. That day changed a lot for Killian, spurring a new obsession in Shadow Pokemon and Avatars. Either way, it got him more involved with her employers which she couldn’t complain about.

If Killian saw use in this pokemon, then it probably was one Lex shouldn’t pass up, “Thunder Wave,” the Jolteon obeyed. A silent, numbing spark of electricity pulsated towards the Hatenna.

The dual type convulsed in surprise, shuddering in place before its muscles succumbed to the paralysis. Lex tossed one of the Safari Balls, hoping that would be enough to secure a capture.

Her fingers wrapped around the pokeball after it chimed to indicate a successful catch, “Hm, that worked out nicely,” she mused to herself before tucking the Hatenna into the side pocket of her backpack.

It didn’t take long for the dup to run into their next encounter. A strange, meteor-like pokemon floated calmly through the air and into the path. The thief’s brows furrowed. She had never seen a pokemon like that before. Did that mean it was rare?

A flick of her wrist indicated the Jolteon was to proceed with incapacitating the pokemon. The same THUNDER WAVE shot towards the Minior. In a turn of strange events, the pokemon didn’t seem phased, “What the hell?” Lex stammered. This wasn’t what she expected.

The Minior vibrated in fury, it’s empty eye fixated on the Jolteon who looked about as stunned as Lex. Energy gleamed around the Minior, shifting into the shape of a series of mysterious stars. Despite the Jolteon’s efforts to dodge, the SWIFT struck her clear in the side. The fur on her back sparked angrily, lips curling threaten the meteor with a vicious snarl. In an obvious display of power, the Jolteon’s eye glowed yellow before a crack of lightning tore down from the sky in a menacing THUNDER that made Lex jump back.

The sheer power of Jolteon’s attack seemed to crack the pokemon’s thick exterior. Soon the rocky creature was glowing a bright, brilliant red. Now Lex was extremely intrigued.

“Again!” The Jolteon obeyed, another THUNDER cracked from the sky, zapping the Minior enough to send it falling onto the lush grass. Lex threw her empty Safari Ball, hoping to snag this oddity.

The Minior was hers. She tucked the Safari Ball into the same pocket of her backpack as the others. She was really flying through this safari trip, wasn’t she? Jolteon shook her fur clean of the residual static from the two Thunders in a row before stretching out her front legs and trotting down the path in front of Lex.

It took the dup a while to catch a glimpse of another pokemon. A flash of pink caught the Jolteon’s attention from the tree line. Immediately, the predator leapt towards the rustling bush. A series of snarls, snaps, and a jolt of electricity proceeded the Jolteon emerging victorious. It dropped the pink bird at Lex’s feet with a satisfied smirk.

The Oricorio wasn’t necessarily at the top of Lex’s Wish List but it was already weakened so . . . She shrugged before dropping another Safari Ball onto the avian. There would be somebody looking for one of these eventually.

The Oricorio took its place among the others in the side pocket of her back pack. The Jolteon reached up towards Lex’s hand, seeking affirmation for its effort today. The red head smiled down upon the Jolteon, reciprocating with a scratch behind the ears, “Yes, good job. We have one more than we can go home," Lex promised, giving Jolteon a firm pat on the head before she trotted back out to lead the way down the path.

A small cry from a nearby bush caught both of their attention. The Jolteon stalked closer, the fur on her back rising and sparking threateningly as it prepared to attack, “Wait,” Lex murmured, holding up a hand. Gently, she parted the branches. The cry was one of sorrow and fear, not from, a threatening pokemon, ”Awww,” Lex cooed, extracting a Happiny gently from the bushes. The baby was crying, and patting it’s empty pouch frantically. Lex knew enough about Chansey to assume the baby was missing something.

The pokemon’s missing stone was nowhere to be found, “Hm,” Lex held the baby pokemon against her hip, lips pursed in thought, “Maybe this will do?” she handed the Happiny the empty Safari Ball she had left. After a moment of consideration, the Happiny reluctantly took the Safari Ball and tucked it into the empty pouch. The pokemon wiggled in her arms getting use to the feeling of the new item. The normal type cooed happily, accepting the offer and Lex’s friendship.
