the situation was teetering on the edge of being chaotic, with an overabundance of infants and children running or hovering - in gastly's case - about. she had given their respective parents or guardians a moment's reprieve, deciding to arrange the picnic and ensure the little ones interacted with pokemon outside their immediate groups.
the word 'behave' had been uttered for what felt like the umpteenth time, cait's sharp-eyed gaze remaining trained upon the multiple little bodies scurrying and slithering about. she couldn't help but imagine their own little ones eventually joining the fray; her future children fated to be surrounded by pokemon of varying sizes and types.
"pearl."
pearl was growing everyday, both intellectually and physically. her mind had quickly sharpened, the pokemon still a child but more easily comprehending the world around her. cait signed a simple 'are you hungry' with her hands, the psychic-type giving a nod before responding with a 'yes' - her movements with her paws clumsy but impressively accurate.
until she could develop a proper mental link, the woman had decided to rely upon simple sign language so that communication could become a two-way street. pearl picked it up fairly quickly and had even taken to learning her letters and words, the psychic-type proving capable of making use of such knowledge.
cait retrieved a warm berry tart from a woven basket, pearl happily accepting and consuming the treat as she watched her playmates indulge in a tussle.
"they're going to grow up fast," she said. "drowzee only take two or three years to become fully-matured adults, if memory serves."
