Beckett picks another fight an Air Slash cuts through a Slugma knocking it out immediately, before another air slash flies deeper into the path connecting with a beast glowing just out of sight. The ground trembles, as the faint glow grows larger. Miles releases the pokeball his instructor so kindly flung him and just like the many before it the slugma fings itself trapped in a spherical prison.

Coron steps forward far more interested in what's begun to appear from shadows. The empoleon understands it's large, but 'large' and 'challenging' were oft mutually exclusive. The glow reveals itself to be burning embers from a coalossal. The titan stomps forward the ground quakes beneath its feet, more than enough to stir the Emporer to battle.

The rock type takes the first move firing tar at the group of four only for the filth to meet a whirlpool cancelling out the attack. The titan is a step too slow preparing its famed burn up, but before it can fire, a second torrent more forceful than the previous slams into the dual fire type's stone chest, the hydropump manages to increase the speed of the enemy much of the water becoming steam as strikes the creatures furnace-esque body, but before said speed can be utilized it collapses under the weight of the water.

Another Pokeball and even the titan finds itself imprisoned.

The researcher passes the Slugma's pokeball to the kanto era veteran before retrieving the coalossol's.

"How did you get involved with rocket." Miles would fight until Beckett felt assured in his abilities, but having traveled so long now, the researcher figured he was owed a question at least. He returns Empoleon for the moment prepared to reveal a new pokemon when the fights inevitably continued.

How many slights would the researcher be forced to take as he scrubs the ball against his shirt the man's gaze never once leaving the younger grunts eyes. Still, Beckett decides to answer to the darker-skinned man's surprise.

"It's a means to an end. This is my home Beckett." In fact he'd been born on Miles away, a small hot spring town to the west cradled beneath the volcano. "The league over the course of the conflicts brought to their doorstep have proven themselves incapable of protecting its people."

Another pokemon appears a growlithe, ready to fight. He has no personal interest in the fire type, but there's someone special who may and for that reason he chooses combat. A pokeball flies revealing a kabutops who, in a fluid motion, dispatches the growlite with a liquidation. Another pokeball and the process repeats.

He's careful with his words now, Beckett's been with the organization predating its arrival in Hoenn, he was a different breed. "I care little for 'world domination' Beckett. As long as the slaughter of innocents, land, and homes end I don't care who claims to be the boss." The region over the last 4 years had begun to destabilize. Hoenn had become little less than a warzone, through those tragedies people like Miles were built, He aims to stop those who would end up like him. The fact that he exists in this capacity is inexcusable.

Catching Growlithe

He has no words, because in his heart he knows that, it was a gut feeling he’d dared not speak into existence.

Theo Beckett lacks a heart, morality, ethics - these were meaningless, in his eyes. Items that were ready made to weigh one down. To fight him on this would be insubordination, and he can’t risk that, not yet.

He’s sized the man up too many times since entering the path, he could strike now in this position he has a good chance, the worst case scenario the burning cavern would serve as a shared tomb. But does he have the resolve?

He plays the scenario out in seconds, what’s his plan in the aftermath assuming there is aftermath. A cursory glance moves to kabutops its sickles shining in the light of the path.

a few AIR SLASHES soar, slicing drapion through the thick of its armor. its SCARY FACE matters little. they're not planning to run. another AIR SLASH travels, and the drapion's saved by a pokeball.
