He’s still a grunt, more engaged now, but not quite seasoned. When he’s given the instructive to accompany theo into the path there’s no complaint, a curiousness perhaps on what business the man had, but he’s not one to question in such a benign situation.

[attr="class","beck"]not even the TAILWIND can suppress the horrible STENCH that soon drowns them. theo coughs, immediately realizing the source to be a pokemon. it's too grotesque and unnatural to be anything but.

so, with a click of his tongue, crobat flies forward, sending an AIR SLASH that parts through the fumes to find a garbodor. it recoils in pain but retaliates with a SLUDGE BOMB that's easily avoided. the gunk lands on the ground near them, sizzling.

one final AIR SLASH sets up the pokeball that's thrown. garbodor is consumed just as a fletchinder attacks.

"this one's all yours."

Eyes glaze over the battle an assortment of quick moves from the flying type pokemon strike true quickly felling the noxious opponent only for the battle to drive another wild pokemon into combat. Miles slides a pokeball as the fletchinder seeks battle, eyes moving from Theo who has long since stepped aside expecting the researcher to show his worth. As the pokeball flies toward the fletchinder Miles calls out his first technique, "Aqua Jet." the red light transforming into a cascade of water immediately slamming into the fire type. As the fletchinder's forced back the water fades revealing an Empoleon in all its majesty. The fletchinder manages to recover retaliating with a flame charge, but the Empoleon refuses to back down taking the burning charge unflinchingly. Miles has a second technique prepared, "Whirlpool." And so the bird is consumed in spiraling waves steam rising in the burning path for seconds on end as the water and its captor crashes down against the path's warm floors. As the steam rises, the tailwind helping dissipate the wet smoke the fletchinder is revealed unconscious before the two, or it is until a pokeball flies enveloping its form.

"If I may, why exactly have you called me out here sir." He asks now, if only because he'll be able to better assist his older coworker if he knows what exactly the point of this excursion is. That said some training never hurt, especially as the organization's eyes seemed to be on him as of late.

theo watches the empoleon make quick work of the wild fletchinder, not giving much else of a reaction besides a nod to move forward. he stops by his thrown pokeball, picks up the garbodor, and pockets it in his blazer.

"they say you have potential, sharp. something about you being smart. but like all other scientists, you're also expected to fight when asked."

Theo has never struck Miles as a man of the arts, no he was just a man who struck Miles, sometimes with a bear paw or perhaps with his own hand if the situation called for it.

He follows suit retrieving his own capture pocketing the device, but deciding to keep the Empoleon out as the path was filled with hostile pokemon, and who better to engage than the water type. He also perhaps subconsciously wished to have his own protection around his enigmatic superior.

Any more compliments and I’ll begin to think you’re fond of me. he feels particularly brave if only because the organization sees value in him and value meant protection to some extent at least.

Eyes flit to new targets before moving toward Empoleon who was set to engage. He focuses on the smaller one once again the salandit crumpling upon impact with an Aqua Jet. He wishes to watch his instructor to become more aquatinted in the art of combat by watching someone superior fight. As for all his knowledge combat still feels foreign to an extent.

potential comes in many forms, and while sharp clearly possesses some in the field of research, science, and study, he also clearly lacks some in fields that involve anything physical, that much had become obvious after their short training session in the submarine.

He's a hair away from saying it, Beckett in the way he moves reminds him of middle management, if not something more severe. Still, he's forced to serve lest he block the few blessings he'd received from the organization.

The Salazzle doesn't stand a chance a hydro pump spirals through the air slamming into the fire types chest at Miles' command blasting the pokemon into a wall. A pokeball taps the lizard's head as its consciousness fades before enveloping it in that familiar red glow. Miles only now offers his thanks in the form of a nod to the water type, for handling the order with a swiftness, a swiftness that would serve as Miles' response to his instructor's comment.

He retrieves the ball holding it in his palm for a moment somewhat remorseful for subjecting the pokemon to its fate, one that'd be controlled by Beckett from here on. He doesn't hand the pokeball to Theo, no he throws it with more force than he cares to admit, and with slight hope the orb connects with Beckett's forehead.

"Are we set to continue... Sir." What he'd be forced to take on next.

[attr="class","beck"]befuddled, theo ducks his head just in time to hear the pokeball whizz right by him, barely avoiding smacking into his head. he hears it fall into wet dirt with a splat.

"you need to work on your aim. those noodle arms need to do better."

sighing, he turns to pick up the pokeball, wiping it against a bit of dry land before pocketing it. it's only then that he hears something, rolling high on his perception check, but he makes no motion towards it.

he wants sharp to react on his own.

"They intend to sir." He doesn't look back empoleon at his tail, From the shadows of the path another pokemon attacks, but it's been long since spotted. "Whirlpool." As the Pignite jumps to charge and slam the emperor with its skull it'd get caught in the torrent and redirected into a wall. Waves continue to assault the fire type until it finally submits to unconsciousness. Another pokeball flies and as it's done before the red light envelopes.

However, in its wake, a second pokemon appears, a Bulbasaur already on its last legs. Its body isn't made for this habitat; how it got here was anyone's guess. Miles is no monster, he prepares a second Pokeball to catch the critter lest he leaves it to suffer and die.

Capturing Pignite

[attr="class","beck"]the shriveled bulbasaur will not be granted the mercy of simply being captured. at the sound of a click, crobat flutters forward, lathing onto the grass-type before sinking its fangs into it for a CROSS POISON.
