Hmm, this was a bit like Mt. Coronet, wasn’t it? Evette had the luxury to travel a lot and on her own terms, so she had seen quite a bit of the world already. And this place had a bit of an uncanny resemblance to the one she had seen in Sinnoh. Well, kind of. Not really. Structurally and geologically, there probably were differences. Though, more importantly, they differed in how they were perceived. Mt. Coronet had always been intrinsically linked with the culture of that region, more or less dominating its development due to being so ever-present. But people of Hoenn barely even knew the name of this one.

It was one of the reasons as to why she had come here. But she still could not shake the feeling that these two mountains were more similar than they maybe appeared at first glance. She jotted that down in her notebook, before standing up from the stone she’d sat down upon. Briefly, she dusted off the black skirt she wore beneath a white blouse and pink blazer. Then, she noticed her Zorua nudging her leg, as if to direct her attention a certain way. And then, there, she noticed a young girl with a Luxray. She didn’t really say anything, but she waved at the fellow travelers nonetheless. It was just proper, in her opinion.

Missus? That was another greeting to for the list. She’d seen a lot of those, but a lot of them were also quite different from what she was called back in Kalos. Evette was collecting titbits of trivia like this to fuel her own curiosity. Granted, a lot of people would deem it kind of pointless. But to her, it was more of a hobby to begin with. And where she came from, hobbies were not required to make complete sense most the time.

“And a good day to you, young lady. It is rare to meet other travellers on roads like these. Are you a local?” She did wear red, after all. That was quite fitting for a path associated with fire. Though her actual reason for thinking that slightly different. A girl looking this young clearly would have to be from around. It was just how those things worked. “Do you know this area well?”

“My, like that one over there?” Evette nodded towards the side, where a small Magby was investigating some rocks. It was half hidden behind that, she’d only gotten somewhat lucky in noticing it earlier, so she pointed it out to the girl. That one was certainly cute, but she didn’t think it would fit her too well, so she’d decided against approaching it.

But it would fit the little girl in red quite nicely, she figured. Plus, while the girl was probably distracted by that, she had time to quietly call forth her Noivern, which she pointed towards a Ghastly that was coming hovering down from the mountain. Granted, she didn’t know for a fact that this girl might be scared of ghosts, but she took no risks with that. Hence, her Noivern would swiftly glide over and hit the other Pokemon with a gust, which Eve followed up with a Pokeball. These ghosts were much more fitting to her, she felt, so she wanted that one.

Evette Moreau CAUGHT THE GASTLY!

Wonderful. The ball wobbled a bit, but ultimately the Ghastly was caught. As far as she knew, this one had an absolutely wonderful final evolution, so she’d actually train it for a change. It was already worth coming out here for sure.
Eve stored the ball away for the time being, a bit lost in thought, before turning back towards the little girl. Last she’d noticed on the periphery, that one had been trying to befriend the Magby, which certainly was a rather nice was to go about it. Eve usually went with the battling route, but she knew that it was more for her own convenience. She had a lot of respect for those who could just talk Pokemon into joining them.

And those who at least tried, even if it mean the Pokemon would run away. Which kind of seemed to be happening there, sadly. Sighing a bit dejectedly, Evette watched the shy Magby turn and run – but after a few moments, she grew alarmed instead. Not contend with just running away, the little Pokemon cried out its name in a fashion that, at first, she did not understand.
But then a mighty Magmortar emerged from atop of another boulder – and it immediately shot a lavish lava plume at the nearest threat to the Magby it perceived.

Luckily for the humans in attendance, that was a nearby Foongus, which was pretending to be a normal mushroom nearby, but was set ablaze almost immediately. Then, the Magmortar turned it’s arm cannon towards the young girl. Acting quickly and not waiting for anything else to happen, Eve acted on her own. “Noivern, Dragon Pulse!” she ordered, while throwing a ball at the Foongus, hoping that it would accept at least a temporary capture in order to not, well, burn to a crisp. But that was up to the little one. Eve’s main attention was on the Magmortar, hoping that she could keep the little girl safe, presumptuous as that might have been.

Granted, she was not entirely sure what to make of this mushroom Pokemon. But Eve would make it work, certainly. She always did, after all.¬ Though that might end up involving letting this little one go at one point. Would not be the first time.

Fortunately, in the meantime, their combined efforts had been successful in driving back the flamethrower Pokemon – or at least distract it long enough for the other girl to fling a ball at it. That was fine, too. Eve would never beget another’s capture, even in a team effort like this. Plus, the girl had wanted to befriend the Magby. That had not worked out. But instead, she would now have a bigger version of it. That was nice as well.

“Seems like we got through this well enough,” she eventually noted, rubbing the back of her head. From the corner of her eyes, she could see another Pokemon that had evidently watched the scuffled and now approached carefully. A Vulpix. It did not appear to be hostile, but it still had that glint in its eyes. A bit of a challenge. The kind that Pokemon sometimes gave prospective trainers, when judging them.
After all, a lot of Pokemon apparently desired to be caught, to fight and to grow. At least that was what she saw in this one. It lowered its head with a light growl. Noivern, picking up on that, came to the ground, facing it.

The two briefly looked at one another. Then, the little one suddenly started to charge the larger Pokemon. It was fast, certainly, but it didn’t have a lot of weight behind its head-butt.
Noivern met that in kind. There was an impact, the sound of it rather dull and, fortunately, without cracking or wetness. The Vulpix bounced off, while Vulpix glowered. Then, it lowered its head again. Thinking that she caught on to the reasoning in play here, Eve threw her ball at the Pokemon to see if she was right and that it would accept capture.
