These baths are not as comfortable nor as warm as the hot springs in Fallarbor, but Gavin will take what he can get. Heat saps at sore muscles, shoulders pressed against the rough stone of a bath's lip. His scarred chest glistens.

"Genesect's back around."

A lazy amber stare shifts to outline the profile of Emma Wolfe. Stunning.

"After what it did to Choi and Zeraora, I'm not keen to see it again." His lip curls. "But if it does show up, we'd better be ready to fight."

The water, the darkness beneath it despite the comforting heat it brings, only seems to fill her with dread. It beckons regardless of the tightness in her chest, and as she sinks deeper into its depths to let it claim her, she sighs.[break][break]

The woman's dark hair is tucked into a mismanaged knot at the back of her head. Strands fall like ink against her skin, clinging to anything it touches. She sinks until the water brushes her chin, until she closes her eyes and leans back, accepting her fate.[break][break]

Her eyes open, and for a moment he's lost in their golden hues. He blinks, focuses.

"I don't know."

It's honest in a way he likes that he can be, with her. Emma Wolfe is a confidant he'd thought he would never have in an organization that discouraged against getting close.

He doesn't hesitate to get close, slides along the edge of the pool until their shoulders touch. The contact is grounding, and for a moment he's content to parse his thoughts in silence. Then, "Depends on what it does, I suppose. It's a fascinating bit of technology, but if it's gained enough sentience to start attacking people — our people—" His muscles tense. "I don't want to see it hurt someone else."

Above their heads, the vents rattle.

He shakes his head. All he knew was that it had turned on Chu-e Choi the moment his fellow underboss had entered the room. He recalls how its eyes had flashed red warning moments before it had lunged for Chu-e's throat.

The horrible clang of steel-on-crystal as something saved Choi from death.

Emma Wolfe is on her feet in moments, but Gavin is quick to follow.

"It could be nothing," but he's already reaching for a pokeball in the neat pile of shed belongings. An Eelektross takes shape along the pool's edge, sparks of electricity shocking skin when it draws too close. "Check the vents."

Utilizing its ability to levitate, the eel swims through the air and opens the vent covering with a wild charge. As it disappears inside, Gavin reaches for a towel and hastily wraps it around his waist.

"Maybe it's that Ferroseed priam conrad shoved in there..."

There is a depth to her tone, a thoughtfulness as she whispers up to the ceiling. It is clear that there is temptation, a niggling of curiosity. Whatever that beast was that lived in the vents, she had a desire to conquer it.[break][break]

Gavin reaches for the towel and she ignores the sparks of electricity that had snatched at her bare skin. She wastes no further time in wrapping herself in a towel as well, all efforts to relax in the baths gone.[break][break]

He quirks a brow at her scolding, but doesn't contest it. She's not wrong; some of Rocket's control over their Pokémon was shoddy at best.

"Ah, Priam was helping with Genesect," he clarifies. His eyes are on the vent above, narrowed. "Considering it nearly killed someone the last time we tried? No."

His Stakataka takes shape, dominating the space with its bulky presence.

"Eelektross hasn't come back, so that's — good?" He checks his phone. "No word on our channels, either."

Whether Priam had been helping or hadn't been was of no interest to the woman. The fact that there was still a rogue Ferroseed stuck in the vents that the boy hadn't retrieved was matter enough to justify her statement. [break][break]
