The ear-piercing cries and scrapes of steel against stone reverberate in the area. Still, Aggron does not fall. THe horns collide and while the recoil from her attack deals damage, the hammer arm does not. Quick thinking from the trainer prevents it. "Disengage, with Protect!" And so as the arm fell it'd fall against a blue barrier of sorts Allowing Aggron to regain some manner of ground.

It's apparent the steel type is almost out now, for all her defense she'd received a bombardment of super-effective techniques from her opponent. He has half a mind to call the old girl back, but a look in her eyes reveals the Aggron had no intention of stopping until one of the two was unable to move.

"Understood. Rock Slide!" And soon a torrent of massive stones would appear above the drill pokemon threatening to rain onto it. This phase of the battle was nearing its end, but Miles hadn't run out of tricks just yet.

frustration leaks out in haughty roars, the HAMMER ARM falling flat against the barrier. this only strengthens his desire to win-out. his head tilts upwards as the rocks appear, cascading downwards to pelt against him.

he doesn't move.

they pelt against him, some furthering cracks in areas of his weakened armor. but this was nothing.

"this is it! bring her down!"

the titan crosses the distance between himself and aggron, his drill powered by a MEGA HORN. as soon as he collides, he gives the aggron another DRILL RUN.

she was on her last legs. they both knew it. now it was time for her to rest.

The Rhypherior charges and manages to pierce the aggron's defense finally, but not before she unleashes her last technique setting the stage for the third and final round of this bout.

As the Rhyperior pierces she roars eyes glowing that magnificent blue as she collapses winds begin to whip sand and dirt rise from the ground the blistering winds resulting in a full sandstorm. The stage has been set for their final bout.

The collapsed Aggron is absorbed in a red light and Miles offers a quick hand. "You're skilled Greyson, but I have no intention of losing here." Miles glances at the pokeball in his hand. Before the light fully reveals the shape Miles calls to the pokemon.

"Burrow." And so his third pokemon remains a mystery under the shifting sands.

The kid gloves were off.

as the last vestiges of aggron's defense falters, she soon succumbs soon after, falling unconscious. tank releases a deafening roar of victory before he too is recalled.

"that makes two of us," he says, grinning as the air becomes a sweeping SANDSTORM.

when miles releases his next pokemon, he narrows his eyes, but misses exactly what it could have been. but he does see the giant hole indicating that something burrowed down into the ground.

an idea forms.

reaching for an orb at his belt, he tosses it forward, releasing his next and final pokemon: a steelix.

he didn't have the faintest clue what could've been buried beneath them in the sand. but what he did know, is that it would regret that decision.

"chlo, shake up the earth and finish with a little magnet show!"

she responds in kind, her massive steel tail slapping the ground beneath her, sending rippling shockwaves down and around the epicenter as the third EARTHQUAKE this match goes off. if it was still under ground by the time the shockwave came its way, it would yield devastating results.

as it rattles the earth below, her form is surrounded in a neon yellow glow and she begins to levitate, her MAGNET RISE making her immune to ground based attacks. she keeps her eyes poised for her opponent to come emerging from the ruined landscape.

greyson heard the steady, rising beat of blood beating in his ears. he decided when this match began that he would not lose.

A final titan to close out the match. Miles smiles, A worthwhile opponent to close the set had been given, and close it Miles would.

It was a clever tactic, but the Steelix and his trainer had fallen for the trap. The pokemon of choice had indeed used the sand to bury itself, but to think it was biding its time roaming beneath the beach was foolish. "Fire Blast twice over!" The ground shakes on account of the steelix and once again dirt, sand, and stone scour the arena already swirling in the very same elements due to the sandstorm.

Sand Veil had activated and served as a cover for the pokemon and so when the Earthquake came Miles' champion in question had long since left the ground using its natural abilities to hide in the maelstrom of broken stone and dirt, directly above the Steelix now the dragon pokemon had ascended, Burning fangs bore out at the enemy and just as quickly Two Burning crosses fly at the massive Steel Snake one after the other almost point-blank, as the snake rose off the ground protecting itself from any attacks below.



Through the hail of earth, all would be able to see the flames spiraling toward the steel type mixing with the elements. All the while, The Garchomp landed eyes focused on the enemy. This was one of the many tricks the two had up their sleeve.

Miles had been seen as a fossil pokemon trainer. A man who prided himself on studying the ancient entities of times past and using those powers to fight. Up until recently those who saw the man like that weren't wrong. But with that identity came weaknesses, and for all, he has to protect, for all he cared about he had to abandon the moniker for something fiercer, something that played into his love of the ancient but could better capitalize on it.

In all of his excursions, Miles had been in the desert. He'd witnessed the absolute strength of the arid regions and the powers they held at their worst time and time again, and he'd survived through them. Through that, he'd made the most terrible storms his own.

Miles Sharp specialized in the desert's strongest weapon. The Sandstorm.

And today Greyson would learn how terrifying sandstorms could truly be.

it was a clever idea, using SAND VEIL to hide in the sandstorm. as it stood, short of being extra cautious, steelix had no obvious preparations against it. no defense. this was a territory that a garchomp ruled unrivaled.

but even predators could become prey, if they weren't careful enough.

chlo turned her head upwards at the start of a shadow. the first FIRE BLAST places itself directly against her chest, the hot flames spreading and superheating her metallic body to the point that the metal begins to warp. but as large as she was- she wasn't defenseless.

using her control over the MAGNETIC RISE, she pulls her nearly thirty-one foot long body out of the way, DODGING it. she feels the heat of the FIRE BLAST as it narrowly misses, but doesn't linger long thinking about it. the steel-type uses that time to put some distance between her and the sand shark.

then, she puts one of their plans to motion.

exerting her will into the ruined landscape below, chlo calls upon her STONE EDGE mastery, lifting dozens of fist sized shards of stone. once they enter her MAGNETIC RISE field, the electricity bounces along them like chain lightning, keeping them in place as they hover around her, their minerals calling to her.

her opponent was an expert hunter, that much was very clear. but chlo was no push-over. steelix weren't docile creatures. they were steel giants to be feared. to be respected.

now, she would be ready for his next strike, large eyes scanning.

notes + steelix DODGES the second blast! she uses STONE EDGE to create a asteroid-field of sorts around her, acting as a sort of psuedo-shield in combination with MAGNET RISE! she remains vigilant in her search for the garchomp!

The Stone edge rises and stray pieces slam against the garchomp's chest amidst forcing it out of the pokemon's preferred strike zone, It's not enough to stop the dragon, but it's enough to bide time. Though what comes from the opposing team's tactic is something very interesting.

It's more of an art piece than it is an attack. Tens of the twenties of stones now orbit the steelix like planetary rings or a field of asteroids amidst the storm. Still even that isn't enough to Stop the Landshark.

Push through with Iron Head! The scene that unfolds is almost cinematic. The rocks are too small to properly perch on, but to use as temporary holds to leap and propel from? they were perfect. The Garchomp would swing from stone to stone taking off into the blistering winds. Its reinforced skull glowing light in the storm clashing and bursting through any of the stones that threatened to hone in on and attack the dragon until it was once again within close Range of the behemoth. "Fire Blast!"

And once again flames burn from the corners of the pokemon's mouth before firing another massive burning technique at the opponent. Oranges and reds burning through the field changing the color of the storm itself as the attack flies.

the steelix centers itself, marshalling its thoughts for the coming attack. the sandstorm didn't bother her in the slightest. what were pebbles to a nearly indestructible creature? her species, evolved from the rock-type onix, needed no assistance in piercing the never-ending barrage of sand, dirt and debris.

that just left how effective the garchomp was able to utilize its ability to veil itself.

once more the iron snake pokemon catches a glimpse- a shadow- of something. her heart beats soundlessly in her chest, tension nearly as thick as her steel plates, weighs heavily in the air.

when the land shark emerges once more, she trains all of her focus on him. with reckless abandon, it begins to annihilate the small shield she had placed around herself, its thick skull making quick work of the fist sized rocks.

in preparation of the inevitable conflict, she hardens her defenses, a CURSE fortifying an already near insurmountable defense.

then, again, it prepares a FIRE BLAST, repeating what had seemed to work only moments ago. 

she struck.

with teeth grinding resolve, the steelix tail juts outwards like a nine hundred pound viper, a HEAVY SLAM centered at the garchomps chest and neck. it tears through the FIRE BLAST as it emerges from the dragons gaping maw, superheating the metal of her tail and causing the steel-type to hiss like an old steam engine.

she would need to take a little, to give a lot.

Miles can't help but smile.

Joining the tournament was a fantastic idea. How long had it been since he pushed himself, honed his own skills in battle. His stint as an official pokemon trainer was short, but not for a lack of skill. For all her weakness Miles was still raised by Gloria Sharp, a gym leader. And with that came training sessions, practices, battles that were constant.

And that fire.

The fire that one in the heat of battle can't avoid regardless of how much he wanted to run from it, how much he looked down on it, and what it took away.

His mother lost everything throwing herself into fight after fight. That fire cost her so much of her life, but here in this moment on the cusp of victory and defeat, he understands. He'd joined only wanting to bolster his power, he has things - people to protect a life that requires a certain amount of battle savvy.

And so now when partner garchomp is flung directly past him propelled not by his own speed but by the precision and weight of the steel menace across from them; Slate eyes glaring into its cold silver maw. Miles only feels anticipation, a drive to overcome.

Because he's still the son of a gym leader, and that means something.

He doesn't bother turning around "Pistri!" The Garchomp recovers at his trainer's call making its way in front of the trainer shaking the sand off. He'd sustained a hard hit that much was clear, but there was still plenty of fight left in him, thus the two weren't done by a long shot.

"I'll show you something special Greyson."

A hand brushes through his hair and from behind his braid a light shines piercing through the dust storm. A stone hung on a chain around the pokemon glows in unison.

"The storm calls - Mega Evolve!"

And he does.



"Show him your dragon rush. And burn him to the ground!"

A purple aura surrounds the landshark shaping itself into the form of a massive dragon before the coated beast spirals through the set defenses at speeds unimaginable. He decimates hundreds of astroids set by the magnet rise like a meteor unabashed. The pokemon's goal? Not to slash into but through the gargantuan steel type. To slam the creature with its pure might and speed. As the attack fades another burning cross forms spilling from its jaws, this one far more powerful than the previous would attempt to light the Steelix.

This was the thrill of the fight, and he hopes to make it last.
