Xander sighed, stepping up to the stage. Why had he signed up for this again? It wasn't like he had any interest in collecting badges. "Try something new." he muttered to himself.

"So...how does this work exactly?" he questioned the gym leader.

"It's just a Pokemon battle, right?" given all the cameras around them, maybe there was something more to this.

"You're making your debut arent you? We're gonna show you off, duh!" she tells him as the challenger was getting prepped by the gym leader. It was a different than normal beginning to one of her concerts. This seemed to be Xander's first gym challenge from what she was told so she had to make it special! [break][break]

"Now go through the lobby and I'll be on the stage ready to go!" she tells him as she send shim off with a small push and her gardevoir appeared with a teleport and whisked her away to her proper spot. Xander would be able to hear some cheers from the hallway as melody's gym became a more and more popular spot. [break][break]
As he made his way down the hall the cheers would grow louder and louder as Xander walked down a long dark hallway. Rock music was playing pretty loudly as Melody was on the stage playing a guitar next to her toxtricities as she was SHREDDING guitars alongside them and Xander approached. [break][break]

Melody stopped once xander reached the x meant to be where he stopped and looked towards him, her outfit was different now! Her jean booty shorts and white top were replaced a black jacket and black hair-tie and matching accessories. She looked up and wiped the brow off her set, damn he walked slow. The crowd cheered when she stopped as she turned on her headset to speak to him "Welcome everyone to the Sootopolis gym! Xander Belmont!" she announces. [break][break]

After they were done cheering again Melody then guided him "Alright Xander let's see what pokemon you brought to show off is the perfect partner for you." she says "Who are you gonna use first for our 1 vs 1?" she asked him as she was eager to see his choice between the pokemon who had signed up.

The spectacle isn't something that Xander's use to. He's not exactly the most energetic person either. So when Melody turns to him, likely expecting some enthusiasm, he's stoic.

"My Lurantis."

The grass type's Poke Ball is already inside his hand. A click and toss release the elegant Pokemon from the sphere. Graceful like a ballerina, she stands at the ready. A bright pink and white beauty that clashes with the rock n' roll theme of the arena.

"Let's rock."

Arceus, that felt so cheesy to say.

Nice! A lurantis! They were pretty cool pokemon, but she wasn't sure if it would've been that great of a choice against her first pokemon. Melody pointed her fingers to the sky and slow moved them out as the roof opened up and a shriek from the sky could be heard. Suddenly like a flash of lightning a noivern dropped down from the sky and let out a loud blast of sound from it's head. [break][break]

"Hope you dont mind me taking the first move!" she says throwing out a hand as she gave her Noivern the first order to start off the battle. "Airpod! Quickly use screech!" she orders as Noivern flapped it's wings to get some air and blasts a wave of sound at the Lurantis hoping to make it drop it's guard.

"It's all yours." he answers with a nod. Neither of Xander's Pokemon were well-equipped to handle a Noivern. It's going to be an uphill battle, and pessimism screams that he's lost before he's even tried.

Melody's Screech silences his angst before it can't get too loud. While the mighty shriek hits Xander mentally, its damage is physical for Lilly. Pink ears flatten against her head to combat the noise. It's not enough, but she pushes through.

"Crank up the heat, Sunny Day."

Lurantis fires a miniature version of the sun into the sky. It glows dimly before erupting into a bright light that blankets the stage.

"I'm doing this right, yeah? I'm not supposed to be dancing or anything, right?"

After the sunny day was sent out xander had asked her a question and she just kinda laughed at him "Only if you want to." she told him cheekily through the headset sending her voice through the speakers.[break][break]

The screech managed to reach it's mark as the lurantis obviously reeled back from it. Melody frowned a bit, ugh xander cmon feel the groove ya dingus! She wanted him to win given the fact that she knew him on a personal level but she wasn't going to go easy on him because of it. Lurantis set up a sunny day, the perfect backdrop to a hot and spicy rock n roll concert.

She carried on with her attacks as she strummed her guitar and set out her next set of orders. "Noivern! Accelerando!" she tells him as the Noivern let out a massive shout as he flapped his wings and took to the sky. [break][break]

Noivern swooped down towards Lurantis and fired off a series of air slashes at the floor and lurantis.

Okay, good. Xander wouldn't be dancing if he didn't have to. Subjecting the public to that kind of torture would be cruel.

When the Air Slashes came, Lilly was prepared to dodge. Sissonneing to the side to avoid the attack. The sharpened air sliced harmlessly into the ground.

Xander should be celebrating, but his expression remains neutral. Rather than praise Lurantis, he issues another order.

"Now, Grassy Terrain."

Lilly flings her arms up to the sky and channels the power of mother nature to her will. The stadium shakes as vibrant flowers and lush grass sprout from the ground. They were fighting at a disadvantage. Hopefully, the sun-terrain combo would make up for that.

Grassy terrain huh? It was a good idea honestly, Noivern was only fast while he was flying. For melody to take advantage of the floor terrain she'd have to have him land on it to receive it's benefits. Clever! But not clever enough! He'd actually have to hurt noivern to force it to land. But for now, "Noivern give em our signature move! Boom burst!" She calls out as Noivern's ears glow as melody takes her guitar pick and strums every string in a loud booming combo.

Noivern took this sound and mimicked it via boom burst and launched it right at lurantis. Hopefully she liked rock music.

The Boomburst lands, bombarding Lily with immense force and she's left reeling in pain. Xander grits his teeth, "Hang in there, Lilly." and she does. She pushes through the pain and prepares to unleash the final part of their plan.

Lurantis points her arm towards the sky. The artificial sun and lush grass beneath her feet bolster her power. Burning and brilliant, solar rays gather into a massive sphere above her sickled hand. With a piercing cry, the ball erupts into a column of light that reaches the sky.

"Now!

SOLAR BLADE!

Lilly swings, bringing the massive sword down atop the airborne Noivern.

His attack managed to hit it's mark, during Noivern's swooping in towards lurantis the beam of light built up too quickly for him or Melody for that matter to react in time. [break][break]

The dragon pokemon got slammed into the ground flat and some of the concrete cracked a bit with the sheer force lurantis was able to muster. However, a grass type move wasn't going to be doing much of anything to noivern's body. [break][break]

Noivern got back up and because Lurantis was so close noivern grabbed onto lurantis and melody gave her neck order "Noivern! super sonic!" as Noivern sent out wave after wave of erratic beats and sounds to confuse lurantis.

Solar Blade hits its mark, but the damage isn't what they hoped. He should be feeling tense, but Xander's face remains an imperturbable fortress. Anxieties tucked inside a tight bottle behind his heart.

Oh, poor Lilly, if only your trainer could allow himself to feel. Perhaps then, you'd stand a better chance at the plant killer before you.

Close and personal, Noivern reeled and unleashed Super Sonic waves. The amplified blasts of sound assault the plant's elegant ears, but she remains unaffected. She smirks. No escape now, Mr. Dragon, you've crept too close to a black widow of a flower. The luminous sun failed to damage, but perhaps the sharp sickles of an insect would.

Lurantis lunges forward, X-Scissor clocking her sickled hands in glistening green energy that attempts to cut deep the Noivern's chest.

Wait huh?! The pokemon wasn't confused? Damn it Melody hadn't realized Lurantis had leaf guard active and prevented it's confusion. Noivern being shocked from the confusion not working fell victim to lurantis's ploy. Melody however would remember that and apply it elsewhere in the future, she never thought about tricking an opponent like that. [break][break]

"That was really clever!" she said clapping a bit impressed with xander and Lurantis's little trick. "However.." she said as she strummed her guitar suddenly and noivern fired off a boom burst in the air above lurantis "It's gonna take a lot more than a few tricks to beat my Noivern Xander!"

And with one another Boomburst, Lilly goes down.

Xander frowned, wincing as the Pokemon crumbled onto the grassy ground from the damage. "I'm...I'm sorry, Lilly." he returned her.

"Go, Solaris." freed from her Pokeball, Volcarona's wings fluttered embers about the battlefield. "Solarbeam!" taking advantage of the sun that still shined brightly. The solar deity (because yes, Volcarona is a god, fuck you Solgaleo.) took in solar rays. Using the gathered energy, she launched a massive beam of light at Noivern.

Airpod managed to knock out xander's pokemon, melody was disappointed but made sure not to show it on her face. She didn't want her facial reaction to fuel xander's worries or anxieties. His next pokemon, was another one she hadn't really seen before, from first glance she could tell it was a bug type this time as it was much more obvious compared to the lurantis. [break][break]

So time for a flying type move! However, xander was quick on the draw and due to the sunny day fired it almost immediately into noivern sending him flying back and landing on the ground getting damaged twice. He got back up though and brushed the rubble from hitting the grass and concrete floor before flapping his wings and quickly taking off again. [break]

"Airpod use airslash!" she ordered as the pokemon raised both of it's wing arms and brought them down sending a barrage of air slices towards his opponent.
