Though, it had not been without merit — his missions with other rockets had shown proof of that. Blood had stained the 14-year olds hands on more than one occasion, forcing him to accrue a body count higher than many had in even a lifetime.

Call it out. His thumb brushes over the edge of the sphere, smooth. With a click, the sphere opens to reveal the form of a fox-like feline who some might characterize as cute. Especially as it flicks it's ears about, gazing at it's surroundings with wide, almost comically-large eyes and then purrs as it bounds over to Jayden, rubbing itself against his legs before rolling onto his belly.

[break][break] Instinctively, Jayden softens as he finds himself crouching down onto his knees to give in to the small pokemon's demands for a bellyrub. It is why, for a moment, 's words catch him off guard.

[break][break] He blinks. "Tools," he responds without preamble, remembering the words burned into his skull by many before him. "All Pokémon exist for the glory of Team Rocket." The familiar phrase rolls off his tongue, knowing very well the Team Rocket motto that has been branded onto his skin since birth.

His eyes first narrowed into slits of disappointment, something dark and looming in the shadow of his gaze. How many times had his father taught him exactly how not to hesitate — a knife slashed through his skin, held down beneath a water tank —

[break][break] 'Mischa, do you think I hesitate? Do you think your mother would?'

[break][break] It is wrong, and yet Jayden can't help himself.

[break][break] There is a sigh from and though quiet, it is enough to make Jayden flinch.
