A Pokemon opened the door for her. Somehow, that did not feel completely out of character. That woman certainly would be the kind to make Pokemon do menial labour for her – and to not put much, if any, value on personally greeting others at the door. So far, so good.

“Good morning,” she simply replied, figuring that the other wouldn’t. However, she quickly strode in, clearly unimpeded by this room belonging to someone else. She’d never had issues with crossing thresholds like this, as some others might have had. Probably was rooted in her view of the world, really.

Eyes scanning the room quickly, she found something she hadn’t expected much. So far, she’d assumed to be shown completed devices. These things, however, were apparently in various states of disassembly. But she did not allow that to actually deter her, and instead made her way to the chair. “I see that you have prepared quite the selection. Even though I can’t quite tell what all of this is just yet.”

Oh, so that was what they were. They did look a little familiar overall, especially now that she knew what they were. All of them looked like the kinds of appliances that could send a signal of sorts – and they all were probably at least opened up because they were usually camouflaged.

In short, this made sense, so she nodded. “I think I know what they do, but I have not actually used any of those yet. The point of a good con is usually to ensure the other party does not want to call anyone to inquire about you or something like this, so the applications were limited. Though I guess these are useful when taking over places or things like this, in order to keep communications from going in or out.”[break][break]
Briefly, she stood there, pondering. It was in part over her own words, really. “Though I guess it is a bit limited in those ways too. After all, once you cut someone off, that in and of itself can be a sign too. Guess jamming is only good when you are attacking in force already. Or just want to keep a secret what exactly happened. Though it would be quite useful just messing with people in general, I reckon.” As always, her mind was drawn more towards the application than the actual tech itself.

“Hmm, I guess so. Though I will need to learn more about phones to play that accurately. And it would have to be in an area without a lot of people. One phone malfunctioning can be a glitch, a lot of people losing access at the same time would be suspicious.” Vio was already in application mode with this, naturally. The other lady had given her ideas, but they seemed more theoretical for now. It needed refinement and field testing, at least in her opinion. She was always wary of any tool that could not be wielded with absolute precision, which was why she seldom used them so far.

Still, she traced the outline of the apparatus with her finger to familiarize herself with it. “Is it possible to use this selectively? Like only cancelling out incoming signals? It might be mundane, but usually the biggest issue with working a mark is the unforeseen disturbance, the distracting call. Would have the added benefit of basically being impossible to notice, really.”

“Well, I did manage to get you alone~,” she replied, teasingly. That kind of setup was just too good to ignore. But she decided to move on from that quickly, both to not overdo it and because she figured it would probably fly over the other’s head to an extent anyway. “But yes, it usually is possible to get them alone. It just isn’t always quite natural. Kind of suspicious at times, too, so anything that limits potential issues is always welcome.”

Fortunately though, the other had good news in that regard as well, outlining the ways this could be used. “That does beg the question though, how do I find out ahead of time what frequency to target?” It probably was something commonly known to people in the field, but she was coming from a more analogue background, so she figured that it was fine to ask, at the very least.

“Ah, so the frequency is determined by their number?” She had not considered this so far. In her mind, phones had always had the same frequencies on the same network or something. But giving each number an unique frequency did at least make superficial sense. Which was probably all she could hope for for now.

In the meantime, she did not make any further pushes on the teasing front, simply continuing on as natural. “I thought it was more difficult than that. But getting numbers is quite easy, most of the time. Something is usually up when they don’t give me theirs.” A chuckle followed, as she recalled a few of the choice individuals that had managed to do so.

Ah, so that was how it worked. Violet made some mental notes. It was quite a bit of detailed knowledge at once, so she would have to read up on it again later anyway. But at least knowing that there was something in that regard would serve her well enough. To her, the hardest part about figuring things out was always realizing that there was something to figure out in the first place and finding that first point of attack. After that, especially with the internet, things usually went smoothly.

“Got it,” she replied all but joyfully. Once more she picked up one of the smaller transistors for closer inspection. “But I reckon jammers are not all you have for me today, right? I guess the next logical step would be something like a bug. Usually, the information on a phone is not incredibly useful, but being able to listen in on conversations it a lot more informative to begin with, right? These tools probably can do something like that, too.”

“I can see that,” she replied, at least thinking that she had picked up on…the joke? It was hard to tell with Lulu. But making a bug that looked like a bug was on one hand quite on the nose, but on the other it was also something she very much would do. Kind of seemed like the oddball thing to utilize for someone that was a bit slower and blunter on the social side. Kind of nice to see that there was some sense of humour here.

Then again, she might have just been projecting, too. Reaching for the bug, she sought to carefully pick it up and bring it closer to her face for inspection. “It could pass for a Pokemon, too, which probably makes it rather useful. Does it move on its own? What is the range on it?” Ironically, she found things like this much more practical and interesting than any otherdimensional breakthroughs that Rocket might have recently had. This just seemed nifty. Which was always better than something awesome, but impractical.
