When looking into the lore of Hoenn, something spoke to him. An apparent abandoned ship that held a lab. And being a man of science himself he was curious just what had happened and what was worked on. With his Jellicent having brought him here Pryde decides a little exploring is involved. A crashed ship, lodged between uncaring stones and battered by eternal ocean. A crashed ship often meant death at sea. Why, that's how his wife had gone. What a tragedy.

Bill's Minccino Laurence trailed behind, its eyes wide as it surveyed the spots of rust, decay and corrosion. Its fur was as white and spotless as always.

Pryde pays little attention to the man that has come with him, far too fascinated with the abandoned work place. Once sign catches his eye as he moves to the wall, ignoring the fleeing Luvdisc as Pryde lifts his jacket enough for his Rotom to illuminate light from his arm to make things easier to see. "Sea Mauville's 10 slogans for a cheerful and fun workplace. 02. Don't bring Pokémon to your workplace." he reads aloud fascinated. [break][break]

"Are you interested in science at all Father Bill?" he questions, passing the time as they look around. Might as well use more than just their previous mission to get to know the man.

"Science? Why of course," Bill said, unclipping one of the shrunken sphered from a small holster on his belt. "It aids progression, makes us stronger, and gives us a greater understanding of the world around us." His eyes flicked between the derelict signage. the rusted balustrades, and the waterlogged posters. "Nothing brings us closer to Arceus than science."

A blade poked out of the wall near the sign, slicing delicately through the corner of the poster before retreating back into the metal, leaving it untouched. Bill approached and knocked twice on the wall. The Honedge popped back out and Bill pressed the Pokeball onto it before re-clipping the device to his belt. "What about you?" he asked, eyes tactfully avoiding Pryde's new arm.

"Can't say I think science will bring us closer to some supposed 'god,' but as one of Kanto's Former Head Scientist I do enjoy getting answers to the unknown," he comments as he continues to search the lab. Pausing as he steps into some odd sand. All to see it try to wrap around his foot making the old man snap his fingers. Jellicent knows it's place and aims a NIGHT SHADE at the Sandygast that dared try to attach itself to it's master. [break][break]

After Pryde would use a pokeball in order to capture the sandcastle, before looking to one of the desk, most its notes to old and water damaged to make out.

"There is nothing more powerful that Arceus," Bill said offhandedly. He said it with total conviction, the way a man might say that the up was up, same as it was yesterday. "So anything that makes us more powerful brings us closer to Arceus." It was a clear connection, and one that most found difficult to argue, let alone refute.

As the pair looked over the desk, something bumped the floor below them. Likely some sea creature swimming through the flooded lower floors. "What is your specialty, Pryde? I imagine that a man like you, with an interest in the unknown, would gravitate towards an exceptional field."

"If you say so," he replies back not entirely interested in the other's 'god.' Though as he thinks back to the Lugia that now traveled with Cillian Quinn, maybe he should start taking the beliefs in these legends more seriously. "Pokemon Biology is where I specialize in, but I dabble here and there wherever I am needed." He'll move over to a new desk seeing a book that seemed a bit more legible than most. Somehow slightly surviving the harsh conditions. The sudden movement in the shadows goes unnoticed at first. "What of you? Besides spreading the word of your god, what else do you do?" he ask as he opens the book, curious. [break][break]

He pauses as the speaker systems in the room seem to come back to life despite there being no power. ~M̷̩͕͊͊̑.̶̡̓̀.̴̼͋.̵̝̗̿.̵̩͓̮͋̀̈́m̴̳͂y̴̢͗͌̓ ̸̥̿w̸͇͇̲̿̚-̴̮̀́w̶̳͕̪̒̉o̸̾͜ͅǫ̶̗̓͐͘r̶̦͝k̷͓̅͌̚~ a distorted voice creeks out. Though its disforestation make it near impossible to understand. That is when a Cofagrigus could come from the shadows in an attempt to grab at the living scientist. However Pryde's rotom get's to work activating in his defense as it uses DISCHARGE to first make the ghost back off in pain. [break][break]

After it would have tried again, but this time Jellicent gets in the way using WATER PULSE before following up with NIGHT SHADE. Once more the speakers seem to crackle as if it wanting to say something, but Pryde cared little for it's words. A pokeball is tossed to have the ghost to become another pawn to work for him.

"I'm an earner," Bill said, opening one of the deep drawers of the moldering desk. Inside was a sheathed knife and a row of test tube samples, their contents long since separated into distinct layers. "Churches are very profitable. People pay for security, and for something they can believe in. Especially in Sinnoh, where the legends of Arceus are so strong."

Bill took out the knife, unsheathed in, and looked at his reflection in the wide blade. "Tell me more about your biological research. Is it theoretical or practical?"

Around them the ship groaned and crackled, as if complaining about their justified ransacking. Bill closed the knife and slid it back into his pocket. "I'm always eager to see what our scientists are working on."

"So exploiting others for their beliefs," sounded very Rocket say the least. He doesn't say it in a way where it sounds judgmental though, just a fact off hearsay. As he retrieves the pokeball with his new tool in toe another ghost seems to float on by. It bounces in the air in place as it circles him. As if judging the man for something when it seems to feel something akin to the scientist. Sensing an emptiness within him just like their was an emptiness within her. Although her emptiness allowed air for her to float. So the driftloon wraps one of her strings around his wrist lifting it up, as if to UNBURDEN him of weight like she was. [break][break]

If only things were so simple. He'll give it an amused smile at most but allows it to continue to hold his arm as if it seemed to try befriending him. [break][break]

"A tad more on the practical side, in Kanto my division was responsible for genetically altering pokemon to make them stronger than the norm," he explains briefly as the driftloon played with his arm seeming to bring him closer to another desk.

"Are you interested in science at all Father Bill?"

"Whoa, slow down there," Bill said, his easy smile fading to hardline lips and hurt eyes. "Nobody is exploiting anyone. Not in my Church. Arceus is real, Pryde, and the Church is a place people come and pay to become closer to that divine light." As Bill approached the misinformed man he sidestepped a pair of grasping, rocky hands and dropping a Pokeball into the Pokemon's grip instead. The Binacle jerked back from the sphere but, too late, it was sucked in.

"People pay for gym membership. They pay for college. Why is it suddenly exploitative when it's spiritual enrichment?" Bill's voice lowered, taking on a reassuring tone. "I know your experience with the Church has been limited, otherwise you'd never think the way you do." Bill's smile slid back into place, like a crescent moon reappearing from a bank of clouds. "You're a man of science, a smart man. I can tell that from the questions you ask. But the questions also tell me that you've missed out on some important first-hand experience."

"How about you drop by the Church next time you're in Sootopolis. I'll show you what we're really about." Bill retrieved the Pokeball, and followed Pryde towards the desk. "Tell me more about this genetic manipulation? That sounds right up my alley."
