Piazza Oro Grande Bank has existed in the Hoenn region for quite some time, having branches in just about every city and town. However, their popularity has greatly increased under Martín’s leadership, the shift in both their banking practices and marketing tactics being a rather obvious one. Advertisements featuring their mascot Meowths are a common sight on merch, billboards, TV, and streaming services.
II. His name is often spoken of in business cycles and not just because of his position as bank CEO. He’s often making investments, finding new business ventures, and is heavily involved in the stock market (particularly owning a high number of stocks for Macro Cosmos subsidiaries, but also being one to participate in certain shorts).

III. A known philanthropist. Several articles have been written about the aid he has provided to charities and conservation programs, as well as about his donations to worthy causes (More details on this in League Knowledge). II. Moved to Hoenn from Sinnoh, where he supposedly began to amass his wealth. Has a masters in Business & Economics from the University of Veilstone.

III. Known supporter of the League. Between his efforts to help charities and his generous donations to what he considers to be “worthy causes”, he appears to be the kind of person who has Hoenn’s best interest at heart always. Among these efforts, the follow are a few examples:

These people know for specific reasons, while most of Team Rocket would only have access to what’s publicly available about him (if they even know that much to begin with).

II. Mars has provided funds for Team Rocket and has an excellent track record with missions despite receiving no training from them (this being due to his family’s own training).

III. Up until very recently (post Sootopolis), he generally has preferred to try and mostly go unnoticed within the organization.

The Marzáns are a wealthy family that arrived at Sinnoh from the regions west of Kalos about half a century ago. Thanks to their successful import and export business, they made their mark in Sinnoh’s economy as one of the region’s largest companies, the public being unaware that this is no more than a front. While there are rumours about them, none go deep enough to uncover the truth, their illegal activities being left only to be known by those who frequent such circles. With a strict structure that resembles a mafia in every sense, the Marzáns lie at the center of what the media sometimes refers to as the SINNOH SYNDICATE; a group which influence reaches most parts of the region and that has been accused of crimes going from loan sharking and racketeering to extortion and even assassination.
II. Mars’ mother, Isabel Lidia Marzán Bernat, had a chronic heart condition that caused complications on the day he was born, causing her to lose her life. His father, known to him only as Leone, has been removed from all records.

III. Shortly after his mother died, Mars’ father took him away in fear of his father-in-law’s intentions to raise Mars’ as the heir to the Marzán family’s mafia.

VI. They lived in hiding for six years, the last couple of them being spent at Ambrette Town, Kalos

V. When the Marzáns finally caught up with them, Leone was tortured and killed in front of a six year old Mars, his grandfather’s words at those moments being ones that remain with him to this day: “this is what happens when you betray our family”.

VI. Upon returning to Sinnoh, Mars spent a long time in isolation from the world, being raised by his family to be everything they wanted him to be as both a criminal and their only heir.

VII. The first friend he ever made was Cosima, who would later go on to become his wife.

VIII. Despite his family’s abuse and conditioning, he thrived in high school and easily achieved popularity thanks to his natural charisma – trying to make the best out of every moment he had. However, the difficult life he had to keep secret from everyone led to anger issues, and it wasn’t rare for him to get caught up in brutal fights.

IX. By the time he was 18 he had done a lot to earn his family’s trust (including having killed more than a few times), and thus they allowed him to attend university in Veilstone City.

X. From this point on he began secretly amassing his own wealth, his talent for business being one that didn’t go unnoticed.

XI. At 22, thanks to pressure from both their families, he married Cosima, who he had been dating for a couple of years. She became pregnant shortly after their wedding.

XII. Thanks to her pregnancy, Mars chose to tell her the truth about his family, because he feared their child would grow up in the same way he did. Cosima insisted they should leave, and when the Marzáns learned this, it got her killed. To the world, it was a tragic accident. To Mars, the attack from a rival organization (or at least that’s what the Marzáns wanted him to believe).

XIII. After months of grief, he learned the truth about his family’s involvement, and upon doing as much, he began to make plans to put an end to them – to put an end to their actions, but also for the sake of revenge. For his father, for Cosima, and also for himself.

XIV. He convinced his family to let him move to Hoenn and manage the bank they secretly are part owners of. That which they use for both laundering and offshore banking. For this, he changed his name to MARTÍN DEL MAR and crafted a pristine public image.

XV. Giving his family the pretext of building stronger business relations, and giving Team Rocket the pretext of offering financial support in exchange for their resources, he joined them, while behind the scenes his intentions have always been to use said resources to put an end to the Sinnoh Syndicate.

XVI. During his time in Hoenn, he has built connections, and a few people are aware of his plans and support them. Slowly, it all begins to be set in motion...
