The light of a crescent moon fell upon a darkened sea, its surface shimmering as gentle waves softly doused a sandy beach. The man, standing in perfect silence, watched the way the thin reflection of the pearl-like satellite swayed and danced with the motion of the tide – the latter whispering a song unlike any other sound.

It was relaxing, perhaps even hypnotic.

He watched, he listened, and nearby, his two pokémon played – being all too rare for them to feel comfortable enough to do such things these days. Only when there was no one else around. Only when they were at a place they like. Only when he was comfortable as well. They stayed alert in case they needed to jump to action, but for the most part, they enjoyed themselves as they had always done together.

The sea, the beach; these were the sort of places where they all felt safe, all those things that often haunted his nights being carried away by the song of the waves.

As he watched the waves, something was washed ashore. A strange silhouette in the darkness; two round eyes glimmering under the moonlight from within a violet shell. It stared at him, and he stared back, the man crouching down to get a better look of the pokémon that didn’t really seem capable of doing much.

Huh.

It was kind of cute, in a way.

His actions caught the attention of both his pokémon, a Glaceon soon standing by his left and Sylveon by his right, both of them looking at the Bivalve Pokémon with curiosity, assessing if it meant any harm. Melpomene stepped forward, Ezzelin was more cautious and stayed close to Mars.

”Freeze-dry,” he commanded calmly, and in turn the Glaceon took a deep breath. Then blowing a gust of cold air towards the Shellder and freezing the specks of water that remained upon its shell. It froze the sand as well… and the seafoam, and the water, and everything directly in contact with the little Shellder.

Mars paid the sudden cold no mind, doing no more than lightly tossing a pokéball at the Water type.
