♂︎ SNOW CLOAK | AURORA VEIL, BLIZZARD, DISABLE, EXTRASENSORY, ICE BEAM, GRUDGE

The idea was to sign up for as much as possible to get as much of the rewards and exposure as he possibly could. Exposure was good for Mt. Pyre, Mr. Dom Pey always complained that he wished they hosted things closer to the mountain so he could participate.

But this... well, he hadn't realized something this ridiculous could actually be considered a possibly scenario for a battle.

With a groan, Sam fixed the brunette wig on his head. He was wearing a pair of glasses in the shape of hearts like Zac Ramsay's that this particular trainer had worn during that coastal biome contest. He had on a pair of flip-flops, some sort of canine evolution line shirt, and board shorts to go along with it.

Why had he drawn this guy's name?

He glanced down at the only canine pokémon he had, watching as he primped and pruned himself like some sort of star.

"At least one of us is having a good time."

Same told his Alolan vulpix, who looked to Sam and then stood, fluffing out his fur and standing tall.

As his name was called, he walked out, ready to make his appeal. First, the outfit was judged. Hopefully he'd nailed the trainer right. He had no idea who his opponent was, and he had equally no idea who they were dressed up as. All he knew as somehow he and vulpix had to pull a win out of this situation.

Highly unlikely.

But, to sell the 'cosplay,' he struck a pose he remembered seeing in one of the HNN or other news clippings that the Champion often made.

Melody was excited! More battles with a fun spin on them! This time she was supposed to Dress up like a famous trainer and be rated on how well they could capture their essence. Melody had stuck her hand into a hat and drew out the name of someone she could TOTALLY dress up as. Time to get to work! [break][break]

She was introduced by the referee who was also the judge for their costumes! Melody walked out onto the stage, her hair split into pigtails and a simple outfit that stormy silph recently wore to the beach! A red swimsuit with frills on it, Melody even wore red contacts and had her hair temporarily sprayed with temporary dye and styled into pigtails to try and mimic stormy as much as possible. The only thing giving Melody away was the fact that Melody's pigtails were a LOT longer. [break][break]

As she walked out onto the stage Melody snapped her fingers as the performer in her had to be flashy! "Let's turn up the heat in here! Infernape!" she says as an infernape jumps out from behind the stage and lets out a small burst of flames as it roared. Melody tried to capture stormy's firey personality and she hoped the referree would take note of it.

Seeing his opponent pull off an outfit and cosplay much better than he had, Sam furrowed his brow. He had a feeling the referee / judges were already knocking points for him.

Because Melody pretty well looked like Stormy... though, longer hair, and if Sam had to guess the measurements were a bit off but admittedly he hadn't been paying attention to Stormy's measurements when they battled and the only reason he was giving any mind now to Melody's was comparison's sake.

And yes, judging by her face shame and his stalking of her instagram, he knew that was Melody.

Though when that infernape showed itself, Sam winced. He looked down at his death glaring vulpix with an apologetic smile.

Smile, because he thought the irony a cruel joke.

"Like I knew it was going to be a type mix-match."

It was all drawn at random and Sam knew that. Didn't stop the vulpix from glaring up at the opponent. He even went so far as to give a might-y/ish bark, then her eyes gave a psychic gleam and she let loose an EXTRASENSORY.

Sam sighed, before apologizing with, "Sorry, he's mad at me."

Oh geez, the vulpix was angry at him huh? Melody felt bad and could relate to his pain as her own Canine Pokémon had a penchant for having a very strong character. [break][break]

Luckily she wasn't using herdier! The infernape was seemingly punched or slammed with a psychic power that neither Melody nor Infernape could really see. She pondered for a second trying to figure out a way to combat that and so Melody decided to take to the skys! "Infernape! Acrobatics!" she orders as Infernape leaps into the air with a light blue glow around it's body as he moves quickly enough to leave after images behind as he strikes at vulpix a couple of times.

Watching the infernape's skill reminds Sam of his own. He knows how he could have countered it sooner, by using a blizzard to force wind and counter the acrobatics. It wouldn't have done much damage, but it would have caused the monkey to lose it's balance.

He, however, doesn't order such a thing. Instead, he taps his chin in thought.

"What would kyle lopez do?"

The thought is mumbled, and by time he's figured it out, he looks at his vulpix apologetically.

"Sorry." Enthusiastically, and so out of character, he flails like a dope and points at the monkey. "Well counter it already!" He even tries to mock kyle lopez's speech.

Vulpix looks at him like an idiot before snorting and looking forward. Fine, he'd play along. He mocked a mightyena howl and then locked eyes with the infernape, attempting to DISABLE the use of those acrobatics.

Ohhh he was even acting like kyle too? Well from talking and hanging out with Kyle quite a bit she could already tell he was doing a pretty good job of imitating him. Melody however didn't really know much about stormy personally to really even try imitating her. [break][break]

Vulpix's disable hits true as suddenly the light blue energy that coated Infernape's body suddenly goes out and Infernape cant leap around like it was previously doing. "Disable huh?" She says "No matter, we can just switch it up. Infernape flare blitz!" she orders as Infernape coats it's body in flames and charges straight at vulpix looking to turn up the heat on the ice type pokemon.

Panic swept over Vulpix' features. His eyes bulged, tails separated and fur bristled. The flare blitz would hurt like a son of a bitch, so she quickly scrambled up as much energy as she could muster to send a BLIZZARD to slow it down.

While ice matching up against snow wouldn't be effective, the hope was that the wind and ice would melt against the infernape and possibly freeze it.

Sam sighed, watching the fight. For a moment, he wondered if he should have made an appointment at the groomers. So, in true kyle lopez fashion, he proceeded to pull out his phone and make said appointment through their online system. Vulpix would actually freeze him in his sleep otherwise.

Blizzard was surprisingly effective against infernape! It's flames slowly died down during the blizzard and eventually frost grew on it's body. "Woahhh that thing packs some serious heat!" She comments before pausing for a second "I mean cold?" she said curiously. However Melody was stuck! What could she do? [break][break]

"Infernape! Break out of it! Keep your flame going!" she called out wondering if it could even hear her. For now however Infernape was stuck and wide open for Vulpix to keep it's combo going!

Relaxing a bit now that the opponent wasn't coming at her like a monkey lit aflame by the fires of hell itself, the vulpix relaxed.

"That's not all you've got!" Sam's Kyle impersonation was failing slowly, he was beginning to lose steam. "Let's show her what we've got! Stop that monkey from thawing out!"

Vulpix fluffed his fur, shooting out an ICE BEAM from his muzzle with as might a cry as the little fluff ball could muster, anyway.

The ice beam slammed into the ice crystal that was forming around infernape as Melody slowly began to grin, realizing what would eventually happen with infernape. "INFERNAPE. BLAZE." she shouts as there was steam slowly coming off of the oversized ice cube began to crack from the heat pouring out from the infernape's body and exploded sending out a massive cloud of mist from the sudden change in temperature.[break][break]

"Flare blitz again! full power!" she orders as infernape covers it's body in flames and dashes towards vulpix as he angrily stomped his feet across the battle field towards the small ice dog.

There was no chance. Vulpix knew it, no matter how he braced, that infernape was going to finish it in the next move. Oh the dramatic flare in which he fainted. Full ham, crying out and allowing his body to flop and tumble. Once he was unconscious, Sam let out a small sigh and returned him, pocketing the capsule and glancing at his pokémon.

The battle was called then, and the outfits judged. Overall, and Sam knew it, Melody had won. He accepted his defeat with a smile, then moved over toward Melody and smiled.

"It was a pleasure, Miss Miro."

Oh my god if ALL Pokémon could talk the things this vulpix would probably shout at it's trainer for this battle. "Infernape! Stop!" she ordered as the Infernape suddenly moved out of the way and not hit the Vulpix that seemingly used memento on the opponent. Dang this Pokémon was hardcore! Melody could at least respect it, she wondered how close these two were that Vulpix was ok behaving like this without fear of repercussions from it's trainer. [break][break]

As he approached Melody "Oh! Please just melody is fine! Miss Miro is my mom haha." she giggled, "Sam carter right?" she asked to make sure she recognized him from the recent Hoenn news articles.

he felt like a broken record but it seemed melody had recognized him, for that he is thankful. he sees the handshake through before withdrawing his hand and putting it on his wig, removing it.

"you've done a very good Stormy Silph cosplay. i'm sure she'd be thrilled, you ought to text it to her."

Melody smiled at him, he was kind from what she could tell, she expected as much from someone who tends to the dead. She laughed at texting stormy "Haha, that would certainly be a fun way to introduce myself. Hey stormy! I cosplayed you in this battle! How'd I do?" she laughed a bit at herself. [break][break]

"Then again she might be flattered. I know very little of her hehe. Have you met her or Kyle yet? You did a pretty good at impersonating Kyle honestly. All you needed was your vulpix, he's genuinely obsessed with dogs." she tells him as she's pretty close friends with him.
