It had been some time since Thomas was able to go out into the wild to search for Pokemon. In that time, a woman he was beginning to grow close to, Reila, ended up dead. Hers was just another in a string of deaths that suddenly hit the Hoenn Region, including a young woman and her child, a shrink in Lilycove, a boy who worked in a casino in Mauville, among others. Thomas took some time to focus on his work, in an attempt to dull the pain of losing her.

Thomas was finally back on the road, this time going through Route 112. The trainer walked through the area, accompanied by his Flygon, Kiryu. The green dragon hovered just behind the trainer, looking out for any signs of trouble. Meanwhile, Thomas' hand was at the ready to grab any of the other five capsules containing his other companions, should Kiryu not be enough for the encounter. The headset with the high quality earplugs was worn around his neck, ready for the event that Thomas needed to order a Boomburst from his companion.

Kiryu, from his position in the air, would spot something coming their way. The Flygon would let out a cry to alert Thomas to this, causing Thomas to slow down, and continue with caution. Eventually, Thomas himself would see the figure in the distance, sprinting towards him. The Kalosian could make out the horned canine as it got closer. Thomas would stop in his tracks, and wait for the Houndoom to get closer, once the creature ran close enough to be roughly identified.

"Get ready, Kiryu. Dragon Dance up!" The Flygon would nod, and begin to perform a dance to bolster his strength and speed.

Once the fiery canine got close, she would lunge at the trainer, fangs crackling with electricity as she tried to go for his throat. Thomas would quickly sidestep around the canine, dodging and getting behind the creature. Thomas would immediately backpedal away from Houndoom, knowing the pointed tail was strong enough to be used to strangle him, should she get the opportunity to do so.

"Kiryu! Rock Slide!", called out Thomas.

The Flygon would gather nearby rocks, hurling them at the Houndoom. Despite her attempts to dodge the attack, the rocks came at her too fast, and with a final yelp, the Houndoom would be knocked unconscious by the attack. Once Kiryu saw she was down, the Flygon would stop his onslaught. Meanwhile, Thomas walked over to the Houndoom, checking on her. After a moment of consideration, Thomas pulled out a Pokeball, and tapped her with it, hoping for the best.
