this time, excadrill avoids the EARTH POWER, digging down low and back into the ground just as bits of earth slam against each other.

Bo merely shook his head.

“Again!”

They were spamming. He also knew, by now, although Nidoking would be vulnerable to the EARTHQUAKE and struck, it would take a little more to faint it. For now, they could take the hit in favor of continuing their assault. The beast did its best to focus its energy even as it struggled against cracking ground.

EARTH POWER struck out for a fourth time around the Excadrill. By this point, its defense-lowering qualities would hopefully have made their vulnerable enough to succumb. Bo watched expectantly, confident as ever.

The cries of his Nidoking’s pain rang out, but he couldn’t hear it through his invisible anger.

A dark side flashed.

it's funny because cian used to do the same thing when they were younger. now with the tables turned, he can't help but feel annoyed at having to react to the same move over and over again.

excadrill seems to share the same sentiment. the mole continues DIGGING, avoiding the EARTH POWER only to continue the EARTHQUAKE.

earth splinters below, cracking, and if they're not careful...

Bo gritted his teeth invisibly. Stared.

As the Nidoking prepared for a fifth assault of the same, the Maher brother called, “Wait.”

The beast did as told, focusing more on attempting to minimize the damage it took from the EARTHQUAKE, though it wasn’t very fast, and it was clear that it was hurt.

it doesn't take long for the EARTHQUAKE to pass and when it does, excadrill's popping back out of the ground beneath nidoking to throw his CRUSH CLAW down at the poison-type.

Bo and the Nidoking both heard the Excadrill coming, and when it broke the sand, he knew exactly what he was going to do:

“Again!”

EARTH POWER, for the fifth time, would claim take their victory. ^{[ooc: noodles said i could]}

He didn’t look proud of himself. In fact, he still looked a little pissed off, maybe. It was hard to tell, but if anyone could, it’d be Cian.

Without approaching, he stood there a moment.

Then, “You know where Roman is, Cian?”

it's humiliating.

and in a way, it only further pushes them apart.

cian doesn't answer the question, at least not until after he approaches to recall the excadrill.

Bo watched the Excadrill finally succumb, sniffing casually and setting his jaw a bit. It hadn’t been the most interesting battle. He’d used brute force to make some sort of point, maybe.

Maybe he was just angry, and it had finally boiled over for once.

The battle ended, and as soon as the question was answered, he was moving. Nidoking was returned on his way past, over sand, breaking distance between himself and his brother.

Closer, closer, until he was in his face, knuckles, the ones forever reading ‘DEATH’, forming a fist around the collar of Cian’s shirt to get a good hold of him and yank him forward, almost choking a bit.

“Where is he?”

People stared, and in his heatedness, he didn’t seem to notice.

Something crumbled in him, and his eyes softened with a cornered sort of pain.

Bo had never been violent before Rocket—and then, in a matter of months, he’d been turned into something brutal. He’d put it behind him, now, he hoped. It’d been brief enough not to bleed into the person he really was.

The peaceful one. Bo. The rock. Calm, but resolute.

Now, he was shaking in anger, cripplingly affected by lack of control and unfounded implications; judgment. Roman Maher had never once seen him violent. Granted, though, he hadn’t exactly seen much of Bo at all.

And Bo hadn't seen much of him. And now he was gone.

Feeling like he might be sick, Bo breathed roughly through his nose, willing himself to keep threatening hold on his brother—even though it felt weird, and stung his soul.

Gold eyes hardened again, protectiveness ultimately overwhelming all else.

“What do you think?”

not really. as angry and frustrated as cian is, he knows his brother isn't the type. but he only continues when bo doesn't let go.

his hand snaps up, defensive as he squeezes at bo's wrist. there's defiance in the way he refuses to shift his glare away.
