sam had gotten there to take care of business. you know, no big deal.

once finished with said business he'd needed a ride back to mt. pyre. usually he'd take his gardevoir, but she was keeping an eye on the grounds for him and making sure no 'instances' happened. he really needed to get two gardevoir. or maybe an abra. or... both?

definitely both.

he looked up to the corviknight taxi he'd ordered and arched an eyebrow. he knew this guy, right? yes, the festival.

"mr. connors, how have you been?" he asked and then his curiosity follows quickly. "...you pilot a taxi?"

so color him surprised at who he finds when he descends.

he waits patiently for sam, in no real hurry to get off the ground. greyson coaxes the bird's feathers, careful not to slice his skin open.

"this is z —— had him since i was a kid. a bit haughty, but he means well. are you ready?"

z doesn't much care for the answer, pushing off the ground with a gentle ringing, like one large mobile silverware drawer.

next stop: mt. pyre.

the only answer given is a nod, watching as greyson is careful to pet in a way that he won't have the steel cutting into his skin. a habit developed by experience, not happenstance. greyson and z had clearly been together for a while, as greyson claimed.

"i feel that way about my gastly-- well, now gengar i suppose."

the fact that his gastly had recently evolved into a gengar was hard to get used to.

"he's a hassle, but usually he means well. his humor's a bit darker than most people care for, so he causes more harm than good in his comedic moments."

sam usually laughed at him, though. which had always been the ghost's point when entertaining.

something comforting about listening to others talk about the bond they, and their pokemon share. most would see z has an alpha predator with little regard for others, but, greyson knew that wasn't true. he just was a little misunderstood.

sam's frown showed he wasn't much of a fan about the nickname. it had caused a great deal of people to fear him, and that was the last impression he'd wanted for his mother's business.

"it was actually partially the reason i branched off, into hoenn, and left the pokémon tower to be tended by mother and her small staff."

probably still was. maybe he didn't have a choice, in leaving his mother behind. greyson didn't judge.

"kanto itself isn't to fear. it's a very beautiful region with it's own charms. it's the people and organizations that make for an ugly visit."

honestly, sam wouldn't recommend it. kanto's import and the like was all plummeting. he could barely send things to his mother via his noctowl given how dangerous it was.

and his mother? yeah, he couldn't get her to leave if he tried. she was still pining after the man who broke her heart, believing he was the only one who could mend it.

seemed that greyson was one of those sort of people who didn't much care for the doom and gloom that those sort of topics brought up. sam didn't care either way, letting the subject change without fuss.

"it's a very friendly region."

and thirsty. but he wasn't going to mention that. instead, he just shrugged his shoulders.

"i'm honestly not used to the influx of people who just want to get to know a person, instead of having ulterior motives."

really he just has trust issues it's fine.

sam takes the card with zero hesitation. he knows a trainer card when he sees it. the pose and expression, the way greyson's card is laid out, he smiles, then takes out his own.

"same for you, greyson. never hesitate to call if you're in need of assistance."

or just to pop by for the day. so far, he would consider greyson a friend, an ally.
