There's a certain stillness to Gavin as Calem Pollet approaches.

I don't need to be afraid of you.

It's easier to think the words and harder to live by them; his eyes track the movements of the baton as Calem twirls it in his fingers.

A hand is extended and Gavin grips it in his own. His grip is surprisingly strong, almost crushing. It's more of a warning than he can give with his words, an attempted reminder of how things have changed. This wasn't Kanto.
