It was very weird. Cardamom had been standing on his side of the arena, about to select a Pokemon to send out, when the Quagsire had just walked past and placed a Pokeball in his hand. There was a slight click as it was apparently officially registered to him. Before he could say anything else, it waddled into place on the other side of the arena, before turning to give him a dopey smile and a thumbs-up. Not sure how to respond, Cardamom returned the gesture with a confused stare.[break][break]
Now, he supposed, all that was left was to wait for his opponent...and hope that this Quagsire knew what it was doing.

Chu-e was just as confused with the Quagsire as Cardamom Bliss was. He tilted his head at it but he had already had his pokemon out for this match. A Houndoom. Oh well. He really wasn't trying that hard for this tournament anyway.

"Okay, um..." said Cardamom. Before he could say anything else, the Quagsire started shimmying back and forth. As it did, clouds started to gather above, and slowly rain started pouring down on them, answering the Rain Dance call.

Chu-e sighed as he squinted up at the rain. Well, that was a problem... especially since his pokemon was a fire type....

Damn, oh well.

Shrugging it off, Chu-e called out to his pokemon.

"Try Smog!"

The Houndoom send out a collection of noxious fumes.

As smog filled the battlefield, the Quagsire started coughing, in an almost exaggerated manner, making Cardamom stare again. However, even as it did so, it raised its arms, and the ground around it started to churn, slowly mixing with the water from the rain before firing a blast of Muddy Water towards the Houndoom. Cardamom, not knowing what else to do, clapped.

If Cardamom Bliss didn't know what to do, Chu-e sure as hell didn't. So, in turn, even as his dog was drowned out by the nasty water, he also golf clapped for the weird shenanigans happening on the field.

Wild.

The waterlogged canine tried to get in close to do just that.

Perhaps because he was too distracted by the beauty of the rain he had summoned, the Quagsire didn't even try to get out of the way as the Houndoom's fangs closed down on his side. He didn't even let out a yelp, simply picking up a ball of mud from the ground and mashing it into the Houndoom's face, looking more like a schoolyard fight than the Mud Shot attack it was meant to be.

The Houndoom blinked at the ball of mud in it's face, seeming more confused than anything.

Either way, even if it hurt, he tried to shake it off and use his Embargo on the Quagsire.

I can't even remember what that move does, but by george Houndoom does it.

The Quagsire let out a gasp as the Dark energy settled over him, then blinked and shrugged. Not having a held item, it seemed to have no effect on him. He then grabbed another fistful of mud, executing another close-up Mud Shot at Houndoom's face.

More Mud was slapped on the Houndoom's face. This was getting ridiculous! He hadn't asked for a facial!

Even though this all hurt very badly, he let out a Play Rough to try and knock the Quagsire down. He can just hold on a little longer!

The Quagsire was knocked to the ground, rolling around a bit as he struggled to sit back up. Finally, he managed to stand, before raising both hands. Slowly, a ball of light started to gather between them. "Quaaaaaaaaag..." he boomed, before firing a Hyper Beam with a loud "...sirrrrrrrre!"

The beam of light came straight towards Houndoom!

But he managed to duck down just in time, the beam of pure energy going right between his horns.

It took a moment for him to register he was still okay.

And then he tried to Crunch the Quagsire while it was down!

Quagsire was panting after that last move, still recharging his energy, when the Houndoom went barreling into him and bit down, in what was apparently a critical strike. He stumbled backwards, raising an arm and falling to the ground in a dramatic faint, arm raised. For a moment, Cardamom stared. "Um...I guess that means you win?" he said slowly, carefully reaching out to press the button on the Pokeball. It did indeed recall the Quagsire, though the whole thing was still extremely confusing.
