Maybe this was the last one. He was finding being around the people here increasingly difficult, and his familial situation had left him in a bit of a bitter mood.

He took a sip from a bottle of water and eyed and then poured a little down the back of his neck, looking over at his opponent.

“Hey. Name's Bo.”

He released Durant and Golem, both prepared for another good match. Perhaps Durant would redeem itself this time after a crushing lost to Raziel Beckett 's Riolu.

“Ya ready?”

very quickly, the air around them starts to shift, dark clouds drawing close, and from the SNOW WARNING comes HAIL. it's cooling.

"ready when you are, hotshot!"

“Alright, then.”

Like her pokemon. Maybe this would be easy—but he knew better than to doubt a stranger.

“Golem: STEALTH ROCK.”

They’d set the field with rocky obstacles, on the ground and levitating all around both the Frosmoth and Abomasnow.

“Durant: go under.”

Durant used DIG, cutting into the ground with steel pincers and disappearing. Golem stood, hardy and bracing itself for a possible double assault.

frosmoth scatters STUN SPORE around them; a nice surprise for the durant later.

peering through the HAIL, aria considers their options. she's not the best battler by any means but her pokemon could hold their own.

"let's set up defenses."

roots start to grow and spread, anchoring abomasnow to the ground with INGRAIN.

Typically, Durant could evade paralysis with its steel typing. Unfortunately, the STUN SPORE which was scattered over the surface of the ground would prove dangerous.

Fortunately, the Abomasnow was pulled and weighted to the ground—perfect for Durant to come slashing straight up with an X-SCISSOR through the dirt.

Only then would it face the possible effects of STUN SPORE.

Golem didn’t need further instruction. She held back, and then energy glowed from the ground as stones rose. ROCK THROW launched in the direction of the opponents from across the field.

[attr="class","aria"]the X-SCISSOR connects, slicing clean against frosmoth's belly. she flutters up, screeching in pain as she sets up an AURORA VEIL that washes over them.

abomasnow, rooted in the ground, shrugs off the ROCK THROW with relative ease, taking it on behalf of the frosmoth as well.

abomasnow returns a BLIZZARD.

A BLIZZARD fell over rock, wearing down and crumbling off bits of stone—but small, like pebbles, and the sand that surrounded them.

The cool air, which had previously been comfortable despite the HAIL, was made into biting cold.

Abomasnow proved resilient, even against their rock-type attacks. No matter. Now that the STUN SPORE had settle into the ground and it was safer to close the distance, Golem did just that. Her fiercest move, DOUBLE EDGE, came in from both sides towards the rooted monster.

Meanwhile, Durant created a terrible screeching METAL SOUND by rubbing its steely pincers together.

abomasnow does just that — anchoring himself into the ground, he leans forward to take the DOUBLE EDGE; both hands reaching up to push against the sudden impact and weight of the golem.

then, one arm extends out and swings a WOOD HAMMER down.

the METAL SOUND is annoying.

to counter it, frosmoth uses BUG BUZZ which rings just as loud.

While the Abomasnow would have perhaps been on target, the RECOIL from DOUBLE EDGE blasted the Golem back out of reach—still damaging it, but perhaps not as much as the WOOD HAMMER might have.

With one final, especially loud screech, Durant was off in defense of its teammate, scurrying swiftly towards the Abomasnow and attempting to clamp down on an appendage with VISE GRIP.

[attr="class","aria"]VISE GRIP wraps around abomasnow's ankle, hurting him immensely. he lets out a deafeaning roar that howls with the BLIZZARD.

like her partner, frosmoth also uses BLIZZARD.

Golem finally began to catch a chill, apparently. Knowing to keep moving, lest she be frozen solid, she went back in towards the Abomasnow with a BULLDOZE.

Meanwhile, Durant seemed pretty unperturbed about the weather. It did not let up. Was it growling? Was that something Durants did?

Its VICE GRIP merely clamped down harder on the ankle it still had in its pincers.

the air around them chills drastically as a SHEER COLD covers the battlefield.

As the BLIZZARD continued, Golem finally began to FREEZE. It would maybe take a little bit more, but she would fight through until she froze solid—Bo knew that much, and made no move to recall her.

The SHEER COLD stopped her in place. Would this finally be the match that toppled her streak? Surely not…

There was little else that could be done. As ice began to form, the remainder of her energy glowed, sending ROCK THROW towards the Frosmoth this time, to hopefully knock it out of the air, and within reach of the Durant—who delivered another X-SCISSOR across the rooted pokemon.

the ROCK THROW slams against frosmoth as she takes off into the air. she squeals, crying as she plummets straight towards the ground. she is swiftly recalled.

similarly, X-SCISSOR cuts at the roots that keep abomasnow awake and able to battle. once they're snipped, he feels vitality draining, and falls to the ground, fainting after throwing one final WOOD HAMMER at the durant which faints it.

"that was a...really close battle."
