battle after battle after battle. and of course she was running late for this one. but it didn't matter. things were supposed to be relaxed right now. it was supposed to just be a fun tournament. but it was a precursor to her actually starting to do gym battles in hoenn and she couldn't feel more fucked up about it.

"sorry i'm late! it's some sort of thing that battles are just happening in the middle of the walkway. are you ready to get started though?"

she was. she had a lot of battles on her dance card right now.

"would you like this one? i have two."

milcrey is her first pokemon up, a small pokemon that wasn't very smart or good at battling but she also wasn't having this be a very serious battle either. so of course instead of doing anything useful while confused, the pokemon hurt herself. not something she could help. but annoying nonetheless.

"i'd love one, thank you."

food was great at festivals like this but when you were going back and forth from battle to battle it was sometimes hard to find the time to get the time to eat.

thanks! she sat next to him sort of, watching as the battle got into full swing. it was bouffalant's turn now which would hopefully go better than milcrey's... anything would be better than milcrey.

the bull focused hard... on nothing really since the opponent went up into the air but at least he was... focusing.

"have you had a lot of battles?"

it was at least worthwhile to have some sort of conversation she supposed.

giselle nodded, having done quite a few battles so far. it was rough but it was necessary. after all she was going to have to work her way up somehow right now.

"it's been fun though. i kind of joined in late..."

late was an understatement but that didn't really matter much. miltank rushed forward with a high horsepower, ready to slam into whatever target got in her way since her compatriots hadn't really done much at all.

oh, she'd entirely forgotten to answer about the crepe... her brain was scattered. "yes! sorry! i'm just, a little bit out of sorts i think?" after all there were only so many battles you could have before it all started to run together.

as milcrey banged her head into the wall on accident the flames hit the little pokemon hard, burning her in the process as well. battles were rough... and sometimes it was probably a better idea to leave certain pokemon out of them...

she wasn't sure what else to say really, so instead she nibbled on the crepe. it really did taste good. even if she'd forgotten that it existed for a hot minute. it was just par for course. she'd lost so many drinks setting them down and forgetting where she had left it. a shame really. some of them had been really nice.

bouffalant of course thought he was strong enough and smart enough to take the bounce attack in turn. he wasn't but, as it hit his head he used megahorn to attempt to fling the other pokemon away from himself. shaking his head after due to the feeling of being stunned by the bounce.

[break][break] droplets splash as the miltank comes crashing into her with horsepower. the vaporeon lets out a squeal of pain, but otherwise leaps back to her feet. "muddy water!" sure enough, a sludgy wave rises and comes crashing down towards her opponent.

her pokemon... hadn't done well. the synergy had been awful and they hadn't really been paying much attention. but it didn't matter now. at least it was another battle under their belt. "thanks... it was neat seeing different types of battles." since she hadn't known anything about rotation battles before this. it was something to think about a tleast.
