As if saccharin, the smile the receptionist gives the man is sickeningly sweet, and if she is intimidated at all by his appearance or demeanor, she does not display it. Much alike the place around her, the woman is beautiful, elegant, and businesslike in both attitude and appearance, but if one were to look for long enough, one would perhaps notice that all this is no more than a carefully constructed façade. Such are the ways of Piazza Oro Grande Bank.

And yet, up here, in the highest floor of the bank’s headquarters, what awaits GABRIEL BLACK inside the CEO’s office is a much different sight. The place is simple yet elegant; the personal touch of one Martín del Mar showing itself in the form of mahogany wood, a Renaissance-style painting, and minimalistic design. It makes no illusions to be something it's not; it’s a nice office with a great view, that is all.

Slateport harbour extends beyond high windows, and the man who stands beside them peels his gaze away from the scene the moment the doors are open.

He too offers a smile, but his lacks the sweet quality of that of the receptionist. Instead, it is as confident as it is radiant and calm.

This is perhaps the first time he addresses Gabriel in this manner, but it won’t be the last. After all, this man is not the kid who spent a lifetime being forced to address his family’s contacts with faked respect. naturally domineering, he hardly notices when other shy away, or break eye contact with him anymore. however, the woman's clear resolve shines through, and he gets her a mental nod of approval.

following her lead, he enters the man's office, turning a pointed gaze onto the ceo who lies next to the impressive view. as decorum goes, he allows the establishments owner to make the greeting.

many would view that statement as something more than it was, and perhaps, that was the case. but, that was the reason of which he said it in the first place. he wasn't here for paltry games, or to catch up - business was in gabriel's blood. that meant he needed to take the measure of the man before him at all costs.

"it has. i'm told uriah is fitting in as well. how is your grandfather doing?"
