One would be forgiven if they mistook Sebastian as someone of importance. The entourage of an emboar and an incineroar seemed to impose the visual of two bodyguards, though the human was the tallest thanks to his choice of traditional geta. All were clad in the traditional clothing of red haori with white hakama as they had dressed to celebrate the new year.

The three had just finished performing some improvised wrestling event, and Sebastian had decided it would be nice to expose the two fighters to some good old-fashioned culture. Besides, it was not like he was likely to ever have a reason to come back to Oldale Town.

As they came upon a local shrine, Sebastian didn't even get the chance to finish reading the information plaque before a few children sprinted out. The sounds of whistling and crackling preceded the surfacing of smoke. Sebastian drove a palm to his face in frustration but gathered himself with little more than the hope of providing some assistance to those that may have been threatened by the fire.

"Hock, Rude. We need to go in there and make sure no one's hurt." The two fire types nodded, and they followed Sebastian into the burning holy ground.

Lucas went to the shrine to both look around and offer his monetary support. Shrines these days didn't have as many members attending ceremonies. Which meant less money was brought it, threatening the continuation of shrines as maintenance costs rose. Knowing this the man came to make an offer. His monthly support in exchange for artifacts from the shrine. He knew how far back some of them went, and was intent on adding them to his collection. Some might think a shrine would never do that, but money was a powerful tool of persuasion.

As the collector leisurely made his way to the shrine he notices kids run past him from the its direction. Fear written over them. Worried he breaks into a sprint. As the shrine came into view he saw billowing smoke coming from it. The shrine is burning, but more importantly its artifacts are burning. Tossing a ball into the air Lucas releases his gyarados, crushing the nearby flora. "Ladon, rain dance!" Anger fills his voice. Running inside the holy ground he releases an Aegislash and Kabutops that flank him. Footsteps can be heard not far ahead. Whether they were ones of a person fleeing, or a person rushing forward he was wasn't sure.

While his choice of footwear gave him height over his pokemon, they made it impossible for Sebastian to outpace the two fire types. He didn't mind this. It was better if they were the ones to face check a burning room, considering they were the ones that would not become another victim in this situation.

It did not take long for a familiar voice to catch his attention. The voice resonated a command from behind him as opposed to calling for help from in front of him, meaning this was another respondent to the sudden disaster. He whistled to the big boys so that they knew to slacken their pace. Sebastian also reduced the speed of his erratic run so that he may glance at the newcomer, and it did not take long for him to see and apply the familiar face to the familiar voice he had heard earlier.

"You!" he called optimistically, though he and Lucas had never formally met. All he recalled was that this guy also shot his shot at Articuno during the Aurorus Ball, and he wondered if the shared experience of being passed on made them some weird form of emotional eskimo brothers.

The man recognized him. How he did Lucas wasn't sure. Perhaps an educated citizen? That'd be a first. Lucas recognized the pale man as well, to his own astonishment. He was on the front page of the most recent issue of the Hoenn News Network. He had a face that was hard to forget. But his name, that was easy to forget for the head scientist.

"Is everyone out?" He said, forgoing his usual formalities. As the trainers ran the kabutops shot mud towards various fires. They sizzled in response, dead within moments. "How'd this even happen?" The tower moaned as a support pillar is consumed by flames. The heat licked Lucas' face as he ran deeper into the burning sanctuary.

There seemed to be an air of recognition from the swarthy fellow, and Sebastian couldn't hold him to a courtesy that he was unable to fulfill himself. As such, he would not complain about cutting to the chase.

"It would seem so. It looked like some crazy kids set off a bunch of fire works in here, but it was a lot of noise so I guess--," Sebastian paused. He would have liked to say that it looked like everyone was able to clear the scene thanks to the loud warning that fireworks inherently provide, but he was able to pick up on some muffled screams not too far ahead.

"I think one of the kids that started this got stuck! Can you go to the heart of the shrine and kill the fire there?" Sebastian wouldn't offer much time for Lucas to respond. He peeled away to the entrance of a corridor where some fixtures had collapsed in a manner that served to imprison a child in a tent of impending doom. Hock began to lift the debris while Rude attempted to retrieve the frantic boy.

"Of course it was, who else would have done it," the scientist grumbled. This was why he didn't trust younger folk. Most of them these days were delinquents. They had no respect for anyone or anything around them.

"Got it," Lucas shouted. He broke off in the direction of the scream. His two pokemon trailed close behind.

It didn't take long for Lucas to find the presumed culprit of the fire. They were pinned beneath a fallen support pillar. Flames raged around them. Immense amounts of smoke filled the air. Lucas broke out into a coughing fit. One arm covered his mouth while the other flailed madly as a prompt for the pokemon to help. Aegislash slashed through the pillars. The gesture is met with screams from the boy, fearful of the blade. Still, the Aegislash persisted. Kabutops meanwhile attempted to quell the roaring flames. Mudshots flew through the air. Drowning any flames they collided with.

The collaborative efforts of the two burly fire pokemon were rewarded with the release of the child, and Rude would tuck the boy under his arm like an overnight bag and make his way to the entrance. Sebastian had asked him to do so, and to observe the child in case the release of carbon had affected him.

Hock and Sebastian made their way down the main hall to where Lucas was in the middle of a rescue operation, though it appeared things were under control through the combined efforts of the scientist's pokemon. By now Sebastian's scarf was wrapped around his face like some sort of old-fashioned bandit to filter the smoke. He could make see the rescue of the second child through the clouded air, so he would release Gwen and Sage into the fray with hopes of aiding in the quelling of the flames. The oranguru would release a wave of psychic to push away the smoke, and then it would concentrate on drawing the flames to areas where the kabutops had already laid mud. Empoleon would release brine into the air so that it drizzled back down like a sprinkler system.
